How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

bakko - 08 Jan 2006 17:51 - 7732 of 10502

If that goal had gone in I'd been absolutely screwed!

Fundamentalist - 08 Jan 2006 18:44 - 7736 of 10502

Leicester started positively, could easily have been one up

Anyone know who Rasiak is up front for spurs and why hes playing ahead of defoe?

bakko - 08 Jan 2006 18:50 - 7737 of 10502

Haven't a clue on this Rasiak bloke.

Just been scanning the forum and there's a lot of losers today who'd backed Celtic and ManU at silly prices.

Over 2.5m backed at 1.11-1.15 on ManU

Fundamentalist - 08 Jan 2006 18:51 - 7738 of 10502

Fundamentalist - 08 Jan 2006 18:55 - 7741 of 10502

Would have had a good trading weekend if youd laid the top 3 this weekend

Cloudbase - 08 Jan 2006 19:17 - 7742 of 10502

Hi all.
schiff......nice work yesterday, well done. They say we generate or own luck.

Fundy..... was so knackered the other night on the cricket forgot to thank you
for all your help, would have been totally stumped without it. Working out odds
amount will take some getting used to, so different to futures trading where x points times $5 is your profit end of story.

schiff - 08 Jan 2006 19:36 - 7743 of 10502

Need your comments urgently! Rafael Nadal, recommended as a sporting bet by Inside Edge for the Australian Tennis Open, is 41/1 with centrebet (an Aussie bookie) and about 16 with Betfair. I have had a substantial bet with SB (and was instrumental in bringing the price down from 51/1 to 41/1!) and have laid it off with Betfair. The SB odds are available till 02.29 (not sure if Aussie time or ours) and you may be interested to have a go (purely on the difference).
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Fundamentalist - 08 Jan 2006 19:49 - 7744 of 10502

Schiff

is Nadal not injured and likely to pull out?

I think you may be in a hole here because the centrebet may well be whether he plays or not wheres as on here if he withdraws all bets will be refunded. I would advise checking the rules on your bet - will have a quick look around for any other info

anyone lay totenham at 1.07?

Fundamentalist - 08 Jan 2006 19:51 - 7745 of 10502

Cloudbase

it was a pleasure - nice to have someone else up to talk to.

I see the 20:20 game is being played at 8.30am our time tomorrow, will certainly not get involved till its clear what the sides are and who is batting first (i believe the aussies are without lee, mcgrath, gilchrist in addition to warne and kallis isnt playing for the saffers which is a +)
