Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

David Miliband: we need a second vote on Brexit deal
Former Labour minister enters fray over Europe to urge fightback on ‘act of economic self-harm’
David Miliband makes a dramatic entry into the debate about Britain’s exit from the EU with an impassioned call for politicians from all parties to work together to avoid the Tory high command driving the country “off a cliff”.
Labour’s former foreign secretary warns that Brexit is an “unparalleled act of economic self-harm” and suggests that it is up to MPs of all political colours to fight back against its worst consequences. The country’s future, he argues, should be decided by another vote on the terms of a final settlement – either by referendum or in parliament.
In a scathing article in the Observer, Miliband writes: “Delegating to May and Davis, never mind Johnson and Fox, the settlement of a workable alternative to EU membership is a delusion, not just an abdication.”
He also heaps praise on the Tory chancellor, Philip Hammond, who is leading pressure inside the cabinet for a transition deal with the EU to soften the blow of a Brexit rupture. “I never thought I would say this, but Philip Hammond is also playing an important, even valiant, role. A transition of the kind he has advocated is vital.”

An extract from Trevor Phillips' article in the DM. He makes many points about the hypocrisy of the left including that made by labour MP Jess Phillips, no relation, that Left-wing men are 'the worst, the actual worst' when it comes to sexism.
He also comments that "the Socialist Workers Party — the most influential surviving Trotskyite group — remains close to the hard Left activists who so influence Labour today.
Yet the SWP barely survived the departure of hundreds of members after its Central Committee refused in 2010 to refer an allegation of rape against a leading member, 'Comrade Delta', to the police.
Instead, the 17-year-old complainant was compelled to appear before a secret party hearing; she left the room in tears, saying they had questioned her about her drinking habits and thought she was 'a slut who asked for it'.
'Comrade Delta', naturally, was cleared of any wrongdoing by the kangaroo court"
Ah the central committees and secret courts, reminiscent of the good old days of Gulags and forced labour. How I miss them.
And Comrade Delta; I can imagine the scene.
What is your name then comrade?
Derek.
Derek? We've got lots of those. We'll call you Comrade Delta!
Cool. Do I get a spandex suit as well?
Don't push your luck. You can have your choice of the totty but don't touch the fat bird, Comrade Deltress, she is reserved for the Supreme Leader.
Never entered my head.

Russia Opposes Further Economic Sanctions Against North Korea
Wed, 16th Aug 2017 14:44
MOSCOW (Alliance News) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov expressed opposition on Wednesday to imposing further economic sanctions on North Korea, saying the "opportunities for economic pressure have practically been exhausted."
"We cannot support the ideas that some of our partners continue to put forward and that literally aim to economically strangle North Korea," Lavrov said in comments carried by state news agency TASS.
Lavrov met with South Korea's ambassador to Russia, Park Ro Byug, during the day to exchange opinions about issues concerning bilateral relations, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a terse statement.
Lavrov noted a slight easing in tensions over the Korean Peninsula in recent days, according to TASS. Last week Lavrov said "the risks are very high" that the US and North Korea could go to war.
Russia and China, permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, have the closest diplomatic relations with the isolated state of North Korea.
Earlier this month the UN Security Council voted unanimously to impose new economic sanctions on North Korea in an effort to curb the state's nuclear weapons programme.

I do not see how a factual comment can be considered as being 'rascist'.
IMHO, Sarah Champion is correct when she says that there is a problem in that British Pakistani men are raping and exploiting white girls and that there is a cultural link.

Is ISIS Behind the Car Ramming Today in Las Ramblas, Barcelona?
Possible truck ramming attack has taken place in Barcelona, Spain when a driver ran into a crowd. Gun shots have also been reported. La Vanguardia has confirmed an attack and says that “dozens” are injured.
According to Spanish journalist Marta Pastor, the attacker is believed to be from the Maghreb, a region in Northwest Africa. The countries within the region usually include Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya. TV3 of Spain reports that there are two armed people in a Turkish restaurant with hostages.
El Pais writes, “[Las Ramblas] is now cordoned off and the downtown settlements have been evacuated… Police sources have explained that it is a white van that ran down several people, and after the driver fled on foot.” They add that the driver ran over people while they were attempting to cross the street during a traffic light.

I have a friend who has a flat about 1 mile from Las Rambla. He does not do mobile phones so I am awaiting a reply to an email.
We have strolled up that street many times over the years.
