How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Couldn't resist staying up for a bit of tennis.

Layed Bhagdatis at 1.29. Currently 2.28 to buy back. :-))))))))))

Bhagdatis out to 3.5 and collapsing. Going to let it ride a while.

Got a bit hairy at times but now very nicely green.

Good night.

good trading john

Harlosh - 18 Jan 2006 10:08 - 7963 of 10502

Could have been a lot better Steve. Played my strategy of the seed losing the first set. In fact he lost the first two sets. He actually went on to lose but the advantage of playing the seed is he will always give a good run for your money which means great trading opportunities.

Out for the rest of the day now to escape the sea of red :-(((((

Anyone trading the snooker note that bbc2 currently is not live but a frame behind - its live on Eurosport 2 (411 on sky)

Scripophilist - 18 Jan 2006 19:18 - 7965 of 10502

Man U at 1.08/1.09 to beat Burton, was 1.06 earlier. Can't seen Man Utd not finishing the job.

Fundamentalist - 18 Jan 2006 19:26 - 7966 of 10502

Agree scrip

would have priced it at 1.03/1.04 myself

also like the look of Juve tonite

Fundamentalist - 18 Jan 2006 19:27 - 7967 of 10502

Having some fun on the snooker at the mo - the quality of play is awful leading to some nice price swings in each frame

Scripophilist - 18 Jan 2006 19:33 - 7968 of 10502

May have a look at snooker. I probably would have priced it shorter also. Burton a 10% chance of getting a result at Old Trafford, just can't see it.

Scripophilist - 18 Jan 2006 19:33 - 7969 of 10502

Made some money before the off and will top it up as we head into the match.

Fundamentalist - 18 Jan 2006 19:36 - 7970 of 10502

Juve game being played on a hard almost frozen pitch - ball bouncing all over the place. No position on this basis

bakko - 18 Jan 2006 19:41 - 7971 of 10502

Evening All

Agree with you Scrip in that I can't see Man U slipping up tonight but definitely no Rooney or Ronaldo.

No value in it whatsoever and may look at Serie A games instead

Scripophilist - 18 Jan 2006 19:43 - 7972 of 10502

Somebody just laid ManU for 11.5k, could be a bookie hedging. But then they would be on the back side wouldn't they?

I've managed to shove 20k through the book before the match starts. Quite an active market thanks to the odds I think.

Fundamentalist - 18 Jan 2006 19:45 - 7973 of 10502

Juve created 4 chances in first 10 mins, have backed them small

scrip - why would a bookie be hedging by laying at a higher price?

Scripophilist - 18 Jan 2006 19:47 - 7974 of 10502

I edited my last post!

bakko - 18 Jan 2006 19:47 - 7975 of 10502

Steve....What channel are you getting Juve stuff from or is it from the forums?

Fundamentalist - 18 Jan 2006 19:53 - 7976 of 10502

Scrip

Bak - its on bravo (124 on sky)

Fundamentalist - 18 Jan 2006 19:54 - 7977 of 10502
