Dil, Does not just interpret your ramblings Fred1 but just states the facts as they are, because it appears you are blinded or so confused within your own ideology that you really cannot get a handle on the true situation that your Labour/Marxist friends are forming long lines and waiting around on hospital beds with the assistance of many hospital workers, with nothing more than a cold or some other minor excuse to avoid work and make the services of the NHS look as though they are underfunded by the Government to try to get your friends in power. Contactless Credit Cards - for low value card transactions. Most credit cards and bank cards now have a facility to be used like this (just check your own cards to see) - BUT the facility does have to be set up to work like that by the card user. The benefit being, that you don't have to bother with your PIN and can touch the retailer's card reader.

I'm sure most of you are aware, that these cards can be scanned by criminal-type persons nearby who are adequately 'tooled up' to be able to sneakily read adjacent peoples' card details.

1. You can 'shield your cards' by putting them in scanner-proof special metal wallets or holders or individual shielding card wallets or...

2. You can also shield all your cards by placing a 'self activating' scanner-preventer' in your credit card wallet (these are automatically activated by transmission signals from the criminal's machine). I see the cost of these things varies from around £6 - £50 each but, as the technology is identical for them all, it's best to shop around for your own 'card reading preventer' deal.

I personally seem to favour the latter method and indeed, there is one (there maybe others) such a product with its own downloadable Android App for you to use so that you can test if the scanner preventer is actually working.

cynic, As the banks replace cards, they all are going Contactless, so no choice.

Never used contactless and no intention to do so, the sooner we become a cashless society the sooner it will cost us dear. I shield my bank card with card clash protection cards, how effective it is I have no idea but haven't been compromised so far.

CT - fact or opinion? ...... my bank debit card was recently cloned (easily worked out that it was my local garage), and the replacement is certainly not contactless

likewise, i only bank on line because my bank has a very good security system even to reach my account

From what you've typed, it sounds like you use more than one shield for just the one bank card...? And also, you don't know if it works or not but have no reason in your mind to want to check it?

As to the way you carry your wallet - I can only think that you stuff it up your *** poor sods that accept your card thereafter.

I use 2 M&S NFC Blocking cards (1 black & 1 white) with my bank card sandwiched between them.

airline is prepaid ....... hotel is often prepaid 100%
i only have a bank debit card and an amex charge card which i carry on my person only when likely to be needed
most often, i pay for meals in cash
as for cash limits being taken abroad, i think it's usually $10/20,000 if any limit at all
