Even the RC version of Windows 7 is far better than Vista or XP ever were. It will be the most succeseful OS since the launch of Windows 95.

The only reservation that I have is that the RC is Windows 7 Ultimate, which is what I'll stick with. I'm not sure how good the Prof/Business version will be and I'm sure that, as with XP and Vista, the Home version will be a total waste of money.

That seems to be OK.

Unplug the network cable, open a command prompt and run ping 192.168.1.1

You should get something like

Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64

That will show that you are getting through to the router.

Next try ping moneyam.com.com

You should get something like
Pinging c18-ss-1-lb.cnet.com [216.239.122.33] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 216.239.122.33: bytes=32 time=141ms TTL=239

If you do then your WiFi connection should be working OK, which would point to a problem with the Internet Explorer connection.

My kids are converting some DVDs to itunes mp4 format using a download from tucows called cucusoft. Once it's been saved to the PC AVG checks it and say there are three trojan files called iTunesLocalised.dll, iTunes.dll and iTunesRegistry.dll.

It's saying they are a Trojan horse small.BOG.

I don't actually believe it, but would appreciate the opinion of someone who knows.

Thanks Haystack. That's the sort of stuff I tried to find without success. AVG has done this to me with other stuff, so I've made iTunes an exception.

This may be the dumbest query you have - but where do I find the option to allow me to fit the page width to the screen size, such that I don't have to scroll right and left to read pages

Just found a little 'PC Designer Toy'.

Easy to use and quite interesting. It assists you to make a list of component parts so you can design your own PC. Actually, it does test your knowledge a bit but it also really does make the job fairly easy.

That is apart from nailing and glueing all the bits together inside the box and then getting it up and working! Hah! :-)

Joe, the display normally adapts to your screen,. but there are ususally some elements of a web page that can't be narrowed, hence the need to scroll, and I don't think there's anything you can do about it.

What browser are you using?

Have just bought a new PC and it has a quirky problem. All running well except when I switch it on, the cursor is frozen. If I plug the mouse into a different USB port, it unfreezes. Doesn't matter which of the USB ports I use, it will only come to life if I switch it to another port. The problem is not the mouse though as I have tried another mouse and same problem occurs. Do you think I should take this back for a replacement or is there an obvious solution! Any help please appreciated.

Possible Conclusion:

A frozen mouse has got to eat so poster obviously fed the mouse some cheese. Most probably warm toasted cheese and with a glass of USB port.

LOL ExecLine! The mouse isn't called Big Al..but then it would probably need Armagnac to revive!
