Fred - the clip is from a popular (!) TV show for kids put out by Gaza state controlled TV. That's Hamas. (in case you don't understand what Gaza state controlled means.)

The Hamas charter - to destroy the state of Israel and to slaughter Jews wherever they are found - you claim time and time again that it's rhetoric. I hope the preschool kids who watch this sort of TV have sufficiently advanced communication skills, a well developed sense of irony, and an analytical and knowledgable understanding of world history to form a similar opinion to yours. Do you suppose these young children recognise that Assud is being rhetorical? Or do you think they just watch, listen, and take it all in?

You're quite fond of pointing out to Mr Charts that you're glad he's not on one side of any negotiating table. Whilst Hamas are in power, the guys who commission and sponsor this very TV show are on the the other side of the table. Are you glad about that?

Quite apart from that, you can negotiate with rational people who might be your enemies or have opposing interests, you cannot negotiate or discuss with the irrational and those who do not even acknowledge your right to life and existence.

I havent watched the Clip you are referring to, but I will try to answer your question.

Children do introject morals and values from their parents or carers.
(As can be observed from the contents of many of many of the postings on this thread.)
Also, they can develop their morality from conscious observation of their peers, teacher, and lecturers, or from reading and the media at later stages in their lives.

The majority of people are generally intellectually capable of reviewing parts of their early learning and modify their behaviour and outdated stances by re-evaluation of their positioning. That is by updating their internal databases of information and consciously modifying outdated pieces of data they are capable of change.

Generally, those who do, have a more flexible understanding and tolerant attitude to their fellow human beings. The latter is not obligatory, but personally I have observed this happening to myself, members of my family and those around me. Some of whom have had lousy experiences and discrimination through various stages of their lives.
I think and hope that everybody is capable of such revisions. Generally, the ones who do, appear to be more mature, rational and happier individuals.

Also, I have known and seen adults from horrendous personal family backgrounds, develop into caring, thoughtful, decent and successful adults. They were able to put their psychopathic backgrounds behind them and mature in well-formed individuals.

They were not blinkered or distorted by their pasts, nor did they project their problems, attitudes, feelings, or suppositions on to others.

From what is posted on this thread one can see that some are frightened and lack the will to reconsider their past or present beliefs and positions, preferring to hang on to them even thought they are outdated, while the world around them changes.

I dont think a personality is a fixed entity; it is constantly modifying and developing. Sometimes developing for the better and sometimes not so.

This probably reads as pompous, but you asked me a question on a subject I have thought about and considered on and off for over 50 years.

I have tried to simplify the answer to a very complex problem. At least I try to think and question my beliefs.

Doing this for many creates too much uncertainty for them.

I would think it is a fairly accurate portrait of yourself. Possibly the source of your information and humour.

Revert to reading and viewing the international opinion of Israel's action and consider where your head is.

The opinion of the United Nations the humanitarian groups, the American Administration and spokesmen of the majority of European governments have similar views to mine. Perhaps you are sharing a psychosis. Consider your reactions to any criticism of Irsrael's murderous disprortionate actions.

There are even groups of Israelis within Israel who are condemning the actions.

Fred is just deliberately on a wind up mission now but seeing as he mentioned it amazing that somebody who says "at least I try to think and question my beliefs" refuses to watch that video (or at least refuses to admit to having watched it.)
