Israeli Gaza conflict?????? (GAZA)

Fred1new - 06 Jan 2009 19:21

Will this increase or decrease the likelihood of terrorist actions in America, Europe and the rest of the world?

If you were a member of a family murdered in this conflict, would you be seeking revenge?

Should Tzipi Livni and Ehud Olmert, be tried for war crimes if or when this conflict comes to an end?

What will the price of oil be in 4 weeks time?

Fred - by "observe from a distance" I think you mean chicken out and run away without answering the myriad of questions posted to you by many.

Panorama tonight

Gaza: Out of the Ruins
09 Feb 2009, 20:30 on BBC One

Synopsis:As Israel prepares to vote on its future, the BBC's Middle East editor Jeremy Bowen travels through a devastated Gaza to ask where the recent Operation Cast Lead now leaves the future of the region.

With feelings running high on all sides, Bowen follows extraordinary personal stories across the frontline, and pieces together rival claims about war crimes and the targeting of civilians.

And he asks whether the 22-day offensive has really weakened the Hamas movement, or if the violence has simply sowed the seeds of further bloodshed.

Gausie .... i think "apologist" may be derogatory, or have i suddenly got thin-skinned, unlikely as that may be! ..... as you may (not) have realised, i march to my own tune, but admit that in this instance i tend to be more anti-israel than anything ... that does not mean i am pro-hamas either, but assuredly have immense sympathy for what in the main are the innocent families caught in the middle of everything in Gaza.
-----------------------------------------------
Exactly my stance on this senseless warhowever your stance now appears to be a knock-knee'd Henas opposed to the a bow-legg'd chicken

cynic - 09 Feb 2009 15:09 - 882 of 6906

lol
bow-legged i own up to!
as for being schizoid, only my other half can know or even comment!!

MrCharts - 09 Feb 2009 15:25 - 883 of 6906

The BBC's Bowen is hardly objective with his history of reporting.

Haystack - 09 Feb 2009 15:46 - 884 of 6906

I must say that Fred is beginning to sound a lot like Mrs Whitehouse, who used to complain about TV progranms that she hadn't even seen.

Fred1new - 09 Feb 2009 16:24 - 885 of 6906

Haystack.

I have to respond. Unlike Mary Whitehouse I dont have any wish for any form of censorship, other than self-censorship. However, my wife and I did to a degree censor what my children watched on Television etc. when they were very young. When they were old enough to make sensible judgments for themselves, they were could view or read whatever they wished.

Personally, I am prepared for people to wallow in whatever appeals to them, as long as what they are doing, does not impinge detrimentally on others around them. But, quite often, I have no wish to join them.

Occasionally I use crudity get a message through, and those who know me, know my spoken words can often broken up with four letter expletives. But these friends know that I am not trying to be offensive to them when I do so.

Ruth - 09 Feb 2009 16:34 - 886 of 6906

You mean you have some friends?
would you have let your children watch the video posted on here Fred, or would you have censored it?
Now bear in mind youde actually have to view it first to consider its content,
oh now youve got yourself in a sticky wicket Fred, how are you going to reply to this one?i await with great anticipation your reply

Haystack - 09 Feb 2009 17:03 - 887 of 6906

Fred
As usual, you completely missed the point. It was a comment about whether you had watched the video on Youtube.

Fred1new - 09 Feb 2009 17:16 - 888 of 6906

No, I haven't viewed the video and haven't commented on it either. But I will watch with interest tonight's Panorama.

MightyMicro - 09 Feb 2009 17:35 - 889 of 6906

Fred: you'll watch Beeb Bowen tonight because you know you'll find enough material there to support your prejudices but you absolutely refuse to watch (or admit to watching) the vid in post 821 because you know it provides evidence that Hamas are an evil terrorist organisation that brainwashes children into hatred of Jews before they're even old enough to hold a Kalashnikov.

I expect that comes under the heading of wallowing in what appeals to you.

PS (on edit) BTW, Fred, nearly forgot -- have you watched the vid in post 23 of the Weekend Chat Thread yet?

Fred1new - 09 Feb 2009 17:53 - 890 of 6906

MM, You are doing a good job of antagonizing a large number of people and making them less than sympathetic to Israel. My feeling is that you have been brainwashed.

Consider what is being preached by the extremes of Zionists to their followers. Both side have the same sort of bigots.

cynic - 09 Feb 2009 17:59 - 891 of 6906

Bowen is an excellent reporter, though it is difficult to ignore the fact that the UK establishment is traditionally biased towards the arabs, or against israel, which is not quite the same thing.

on the other hand, the hamas kiddies-tv cartoon looks to be incontrovertible, and to say it is appalling is a gross understatement ...... if the cartoon was "faked" hamas and the rest of their crew would have lost no time in turning it to their own propaganda advantage ..... their silence is deafening and condemnatory for that reason

MightyMicro - 09 Feb 2009 18:32 - 892 of 6906

MM, You are doing a good job of antagonizing a large number of people

Well, Fred, you would know all about that.

MrCharts - 09 Feb 2009 20:31 - 893 of 6906

Rockets still being launched into Israel by Hamas.
If Netanyahu becomes the next PM after the elections tomorrow, the kid gloves will be off.......certain people will need to take a handful of tranquillisers and a reality check......

hilary - 09 Feb 2009 20:46 - 894 of 6906

I certainly hope that you're not suggesting anybody on this thread might be on special medication, charts Mr C.

MightyMicro - 09 Feb 2009 22:33 - 895 of 6906

Fred, I have just re-read your response to me which said:

MM, You are doing a good job of antagonizing a large number of people and making them less than sympathetic to Israel. My feeling is that you have been brainwashed.

I have to say that it is quite remarkable that you, of all people, have the affront to say that to me on a public forum. How very dare you.

I require a retraction and an apology.

MM

What took you so long, Dezza?

Whenever Fred takes agin folk, he uses their words and turns them around.

Until Fred made that remark, he had side-stepped the issue with regard to comments about 'that video' and his continued assertion of not having watched it, together with his carefully worded repostes to being compared with Mrs Whitehouse.
Or so he thought.

And Fred, you know very well that I choose my words - with utmost caution.

chocolat - 09 Feb 2009 23:11 - 897 of 6906

Hey Hiltops - you almost confused me there - cynic is Mr C.

At his age, he deserves a bit of respect ;)

MightyMicro - 09 Feb 2009 23:19 - 898 of 6906

Thanks, Choccopops.

So, Fred, what about the vid in post 821? Watched it yet? I'll keep asking and. no doubt, you'll keep evading. What an utterly dishonest sod you are.
