World cup 2010, What chances for the Home sides and Ireland !. (2010)

required field - 12 Oct 2008 18:43

Thought I'd start a football blog, we might keep this going until 2010.....England doing well....did not see the match or even the goals....I'd like Michael owen back in the squad though....and I think Peter Crouch would make a very good substitute...remember against Argentina in Geneva a few years ago....with Michael Owen and some very good movements on and off the ball...they caused havoc.....did see Scotland's missed chance....that could be very costly losing those 2 points !.

Missed penalty plus spanish ref was very picky!

Lets hope we don't get that ref in any of our matches. Maybe he is on a bung from the chinese mafia betting mob.

Rooney disinterested;
Gerard out of form
Lampard an international joke.

...and they're the best players ....

ptholden - 18 Jun 2010 21:17 - 908 of 1154

Pretty much agree dd.
Difficult to sum up how poor this peformance has been, but I'll give it a go.

The back four, with the exception of Ash Cole is awful, a decent team is going to rip them to pieces, no doubt about that.

The midfield is unbalanced, Lampard has been a spectator for two games and should be ashamed of his level of effort and performance; he should be dropped and Gerrard moved into the centre, with Joe Cole given an opportunity on the left.

Heskey, doesn't score goals and he hasn't been anywhere near as effective as in the USA game. What on earth has happened to Rooney? How has he gone from such an outstanding player with Utd to a total loss tonight? It is all beyond me.

At the end of the day, the team looks uncomfortable and Capello seems to be in the process of proving he is uncapable of making the right changes when it's going badly. The sooner we're knocked out of this competition, the better, I really just can't stand the disappointment at every major tournament :-(

Make me eat my words England!

BRING ON JOE COLE....what the hell is the matter with those liverpool players.....?...pathetic....Glen Johnson should not be on the field in that form....did not kick one single ball straght....Lampard did nothing....aghhhh...yuck....i

Chris Carson - 18 Jun 2010 21:33 - 910 of 1154

Can only get better, has to! You can see and feel the frustration, Capello has got it wrong it's so kin obvious.

ptholden - 18 Jun 2010 21:36 - 911 of 1154

CC, we all thought that after the USA game and it just got a whole lot worse. Unless they click against Slovenia, they are off home, simples.

required field - 18 Jun 2010 21:37 - 912 of 1154

What ?, they can't put some passes together....John Terry was like in the twilight zone....a team from league 2 would have beaten them today .....long balls up to Heskey...what a Crap way of playing....

ptholden - 18 Jun 2010 21:37 - 913 of 1154

RF, Lampard plays for Chelski! (But you probably knew that). In such a pivotal position, he is probably the worst player in the side, will Capello have the guts to drop him? I doubt it, Gerrard is the natural replacement.

HARRYCAT - 18 Jun 2010 21:43 - 914 of 1154

Pants, but at least they didn't lose. How bad would that have been?!!!

required field - 18 Jun 2010 21:55 - 915 of 1154

JC is the answer.....don't these players know that this is not the tiddlywinks league where a mistake happens 3 times a minute....and then they have the ball again...that doesn't happen here...forget about the golf course, thay should be training.....

dealerdear - 18 Jun 2010 21:57 - 916 of 1154

There's one good thing.

As a rugby union fan, they make Johno's England look good...

required field - 18 Jun 2010 22:01 - 917 of 1154

Ajusting seems to be the big problem.....when you don't get the ball as a forward you come back ...you flood the midfield : 6 or even 7 players, ...then breakout, but close together not with crappy long balls flying all over the place....that only works twice in a game....terrible performance, the worst for ages....what were those players from Liverpool and that includes Rooney thinking of.....?.....stupid crosses into the penalty box with no imagination at all.....

Chris Carson - 18 Jun 2010 22:12 - 918 of 1154

Pretty obvious want to go home for a shag! sorry to be crude but Capello's team selection, regime, rigid 4-4-2 tactics has destroyed any confidence those players ever had to the extent that they are unrecognisable!

I'll be gutted if England get knocked out in the group stages rather than on penalties.

Just won't be the same.

Even your lot could have won today Treb , that's how bad they were.

goldfinger - 19 Jun 2010 06:23 - 921 of 1154

Well your right DIL, shite performance from a overated team on the night.

Was the Keiser right............ looks like it.

Rooney (utd fan here aswell) was pathetic.

Lampard, is he really there in SA????????.

Dont ever swear but on holiday abroad and cant get to sleep thinking of that shite ive just seen, must be one of the worst performances ever .

Look, at least if they are as bad as they seem lets kick ass and get a bit physical.

Taken to special brew, weve had it.

The England world cup team visited an orphanage in south africa today.
"Its so good to put a smile on the faces of people constantly struggling and facing the impossible"... said Jamal Umbobo aged 6.

required field - 19 Jun 2010 09:18 - 923 of 1154

I'm starting to think that David Beckham is a jinx !...if he's around, things go pearshaped.....and what on earth were those sloppy backpasses to David James : it's a miracle that the Algerians did not get on to the end of one of those.....Glen Johnson was the worse along with John Terry who looked completely out of sorts....all this crap about 442...451....it should be about short clever build up with the players linking up, not the crappy long ball up front....Lampard does not create anything, although his shots on goal can be dangerous....Joe Cole must be on the field !.
