The main activity of Biofuels is the large scale production and exploitation of biodiesel and glycerine following the construction and commissioning of the initial plant.
Biodiesel is produced from vegetable oils and, as an environmentally friendly product, can make a significant contribution towards reducing green house gases and meeting Kyoto targets.

RNS's from BFC can be viewed at:

Yes cynic, BFC has a cock-up management team and I think they deserve it!

hyleo's call was wrong though perhaps only in its timing ....... is sp just suffering from the current and general malaise in alternative fuel shares or is the money now running out fast? ....... probably both, and put my money on it just before Christmas (should have done same with SEO when it was 3p!)

Have had a passing interest in BFC, primarily because I'm an agriculturalist and this is one of the first of the industrial scale biofuels plants that provides a real alternative to providing food.
The problem is, IMHO, the break even price of the raw material that they need, I.e. oilseed rape (OSR) is around 170/tonne and that is ex the farm before transport costs to their site. In the past year ex-farm OSR has risen from around 130/tonne to currently 173/tonne with farmers receiving an oil bonus of around 10-12/tonne on top. Therefore the cost of the OSR to BFC is probably around 190, which makes the entire job unviable. (It only works in other countries as they get Gov't support, (either direct or indirectly) for their biofuels industry. There is Gov't support in the UK, but no where near enough to make this pay at present raw material costs, against current oil prices.
Also, the total capacity of biofuel plants either built or planned in the uk comes to around 3x the current national crop. Due to crop rotation limits there is no way that the UK can produce enough OSR to supply all these plants. Therefore most will either not be built or will run uneconomically or rely on imported OSR.
Just my thoughts

I doubt he'll send any money to the U.K. ahoj - He's more involved in US operations seeing as he is the president and probably couldnt care less what BFC is doing in the UK.
So dont get too optimisitc
