How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Just had a look at the new software offered by AB for 25. Don't know about you but looks to be far too much info to take in all at once. Bit miffed also that they are charging for it when upgrades are supposed to be FOC.

Scripophilist - 04 Feb 2005 21:10 - 926 of 10502

I may get the chance to trial it FOC Harlosh. I have been speaking to AB at the moment about a number of things. I will try and get a look at it and do a write up. I am also seeing Betfair and Sporting Lot on Monday so something may come out of that. Don't know yet.

Scotland doing very well against France this could be my biggest pay day ever. Just considering when to cover the position.

Dil - 05 Feb 2005 14:52 - 933 of 10502

I've covered and already on a no lose situation with Wales but only win if Wales win :-)

cunningham - 05 Feb 2005 14:54 - 934 of 10502

Same position in the Scoland game, only win if Scotland win but no exposure otherwise. Did not intend to be in this position just mis-judged the odds when I greened up.

The jocks have done us proud - im closing and reversing it at half time - i think the french will have had a rocket at half time

Scripophilist - 05 Feb 2005 15:10 - 942 of 10502

Palace Vs Bolton was interesting but only an average punt. Hoping for something more interesting this afternoon. I am doing the garden and fixing the garage door as well. Talk about multitasking!! I just thank the lord for the invention of wireless LAN though the neighbours keep wondering why I have a laptop with me where ever I go.

cunningham - 05 Feb 2005 15:11 - 943 of 10502

Backed Scotland Just before kick off at 1.51. Layed after they scored the penalty at 1.54.

Have now managed to get green across the piece but only by a small amount.

Scripophilist - 05 Feb 2005 15:11 - 944 of 10502

GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNN ME UP!

Now all green on Liverpool...
