MELDEX. Double your money- quicktime. (MDX)

kitosdad - 12 Dec 2007 16:20

The engines have fired up at last for MDX. ( BPRG ) At long last they are being recognised for the force they will become over the next two years. On the cusp of disclosing huge revenue-earning deals with Global pharmacists. These have been hinted at as being unrolled before the years end, but may be in the next days. You still have time to get in at a bargain-basement price before the SP takes off for real shortly.

Richard Trevillion is chief executive of Meldex International, a growing and successful pharmaceutical business. Since joining the company 18 months ago he has turned the business around from losing 10million a year to a projected pre-tax profit of 4.5m. Richard has built and sold a number of businesses since leaving investment banking seven years ago. Here Richard shares his secrets for success in business:

Making a success of any business takes dedication. You need to have the right people around you and be focused on what you want to achieve. It's exciting but can be daunting. In achieving success there is no real substitute for a clear vision and hard work.

Have focus: Don't get distracted or diverted. This requires confidence which is born out of research. With a clear goal and calculated milestones you can plan for success.

Don't be afraid: Fear of failure is the biggest barrier to success.

Everybody makes mistakes and regularly. In this country we are particularly prone to pointing out and highlighting failure.

You have to develop a thick skin to succeed.

Don't try to do everything: Nobody can - you will fail. Have the confidence to delegate and don't forget that in the process they will also make mistakes from which they and you will learn.

Don't take unnecessary risks: Contrary to the popular view of the entrepreneur being a risk taker, in my experience the successful entrepreneur is able to assess risks quickly and mitigate them at the same time. This ability comes with focus and confidence.

Cash, cash, cash: It's an old cliche, but no one goes out of business by making a loss. Get your cashflow wrong, though, and you're dead. You need cash to pay staff, tax, etc. Steady cashflow is vital, so make sure you get paid on time.

Build the right team: The right people are fundamental to success. You have to have a mix and be challenged. Not everyone will share all of your drive and goals but they must share your enthusiasm.

Find a release mechanism: Setting up a business is challenging and when everyone is looking to you to decide it can be very lonely as well. You can get so caught up that solutions become increasingly difficult to find. Take time out somehow and you will find ideas begin to flow.

Get fit, stay fit: The fitter you are the more energy you will have and the more resilient you will be to the daily challenges.
