TOK - I've been getting similar in the last couple of days, but coupled with IE or CHROME locking up - no idea as to the cause (as yet).

I get varied amounts of that file, sometimes several a day sometimes 1 or 2. I'm sure its to do with my stockwatch refreshing as it only happens when that's open.
No point in approaching moneyam as their default answer is it's something wrong with my pc.
they don't seem to have any harmfull effect and I just delete them.

was in local pc shop when someone phoned in with that problem. They want you to allow remote access to you pc so they can "fix" some problems. You haven't got any but will once you let them in. They will then offer further repairs - for a fee of course.
Calls like that tend to stop if you ask them if they've heard of the telephone preference service.

It might be an idea to try clearing your Java cache.

Note: Java cache is different than your Browser cache. Clearing your Java cache can be a quick and easy fix.

Click the following things in order: Start > Control Panel > Java.
Note: If you do not see the Java icon, click on Switch to Classic View in the menu on the left-hand side, and this should allow you to see the Java icon.
Under the General tab, click the Settings button located in the Temporary Internet Files section.
Then click on Delete Files...
A dialog box will appear. Make sure all the options are selected, and click OK.

Note: Clearing your Temporary Internet Files from your browser might not clear your Java cache. To make sure your Java cache is clear, you must clear your Java cache as instructed above.

You should also make sure you're running the latest version of Java. There is a loink on the MoneyAM Stockwatch page that will assist with that.

Haystack .. thinking of using 7day shop for ink and a mouse .. the mice price seem too good to be true though, so hesitating at the mo'. You know what they say about if it's looks too good to be true, then ... :)

I have bought quite a few things from 7day shop such as memory sticks, film processing, ink and they have been pretty good. Mice are very variable as are keyboards. Some are pretty basic. I guess it might depend on whether the mouse was branded or not. I think they have a good returns policy, but better check,

I've used them before without any problem - couple of years ago, but everything was OK.

thanks, mac but ink is one consumable I don't compromise on - always get the original make (HP in my case). Too many headaches with compatibles.

Thanks for the tip, Excel. My Java is up to date. An update arrived a couple of days ago and the thought did cross my mind that the two might be related.I use CCleaner regularly and that clears the Java cache.

TOK - I think it must be linked to the java update, as I too am having the problem since then. Just for interest, I don't use MAM's monitors!

Best one, imo, is Avast.
Have used AVG in the past, but found there have been some conflicting software issues with Vista.
Am only using XP & Vista, so not sure if there are any issues with 7.

I have used most of the free ones and now use Microsoft Essentials (free) and run a virus scan using Malwarebytes software every few days.

I'm using AVG on three machines here now. No obvious problems, but the Safe Search option is not compatible with FireFox 5 (yet). A minor issue, IMHO. Glad to be shot of Norton, BTW. Also McAfee.

Edit: Forgot to mention that they're all running XP SP3. Old-fashioned chap that I am.

TOK: It's as annoying as Norton, but in other ways. It was the default install on my OH's Dell desktop box, so we went with it as one of my respected techie colleagues used it instead of Norton. The constant rebooting for updates got on Mrs MM's , er y'know.

AVG updates most of the time without reboot and does it all much more unobtrusively. Also, it's the only AV package any of the software engineers in my company will now use. I just do what I'm told! :-)
