PC & MAC CLINIC - On line problem solving. (CPU)

Crocodile - 16 Dec 2002 03:59

cowshapedfish - 06 Jul 2011 19:48 - 9569 of 11003

How odd. I'm on free at present so gonna change over to full stream after next month. I'm sure it' s something to do with the intermittent nature of temp access to stockwatch (free) as opposed to paid

HARRYCAT - 06 Jul 2011 20:06 - 9570 of 11003

Cowshape - Have a look at post #9549.
What software are you running? XP with the Java update seems o.k. but I know IE9 has a number of issues which I believe are being slowly resolved. I don't think XP supports IE9, so presumably you are running Vista or 7?

cowshapedfish - 06 Jul 2011 22:13 - 9571 of 11003

Harrycat

Vista with Maxthon browser though Ive tried new Java with other browsers and it will not function correctly..it once did but not now..very odd

thanks

The Other Kevin - 07 Jul 2011 07:58 - 9573 of 11003

I'm running with IE 8 and XP pro and since the Java update I get one or two Java crash error messages a day. I think it's linked to streaming Stockwatch but there doesn't seem to be a clue in the code that the error messages contain. If someone thinks they may be able to decipher the code I'll post the next one that appears.

MightyMicro - 07 Jul 2011 09:06 - 9574 of 11003

TOK: Probably worth posting the error messages. Not seen any problem myself. (FireFox 5.0, Java update 26, Win XP Pro SP3, Lenovo ThinkPad T500)

skinny - 07 Jul 2011 09:14 - 9575 of 11003

This is the header of the report that I'm getting - if you want the rest posting, let me know.

What sort of spec is your machine?

ie, CPU? RAM? Operating System? etc?

skinny - 07 Jul 2011 09:28 - 9577 of 11003

Windows XP SP3
Pentium 4 2.53ghz
1 Gig of ram

The Other Kevin - 07 Jul 2011 09:31 - 9578 of 11003

My error messages are similar to Skinny's. (Sod's law I haven't had one yet today).
2 gig AMD Athlon 64
2048 meg RAM
3 GB main hard drive
XP3 Pro

skinny - 07 Jul 2011 09:35 - 9579 of 11003

Ironically - neither have I !

I have pointed it out before, but I don't use stockwatch ( I still use AFN monitors ) and I get the error on both Chrome & IE. Therefore I assume the problem is with Java itself as that seems to be the only common factor?

ExecLine - 07 Jul 2011 09:39 - 9580 of 11003

Nothing much wrong with that spec', except that possibly at least another 1GB of RAM might be be useful and make things a bit easier for processing lots of info'.

Also, what Browser are you using and what version?

skinny - 07 Jul 2011 09:45 - 9581 of 11003

I Agree about the RAM, but thats the max for the mother board! IE8, but as stated, I get the same error with Chrome!

On edit :- IE7

The Other Kevin - 07 Jul 2011 22:57 - 9582 of 11003

Only one error message today. Here it is. Can anyone decipher the code?

I cant send emails from windows mail on one PC on my home network.

Error number 0x800CCC0B. windows has detected an IP address conflict!

I have checked my account settings several times and it is the virgin address that is the problem. Sky account is fine, internet connection is excellent.

Browsing on internet tells me to set all my network to auto detect setting which I have done, but problem still exists.

Virgin broadband helpline has been no help at all. Quite the opposite in fact. One of them told me to take my PC along to PC/Computer world and get it repaired, another said he would escalate to level2 for assistance and they demanded 10pm before they would even attempt to fix the problem. I have no intention of taking up either option for obvious reasons.

Any suggestions?

Rich - it might be worth emailing Mega Bucks - I think he runs some (dubious) websites :-)
