I tried that GodMode that you kindly posted a while ago.
Basically I can't get it to work. I copied & pasted your code & checked it with the video. The icon doesn't change. It's still a folder named as per the code. When I click on it, I just get the message that the folder is empty. Any ideas please?
I'm running W7 64 bit.

I had the same problem as you and if memory serves solved it by creating a folder in C: drive in windows explorer then using suggested code.

Sorry to hear that, Bolshi.

Once you've created the folder then all you have to do is 'double click' on it to open it. And there, right before your very eyes, all the different settings you can mess about with, will appear.

For starters, GodMode is not really a mode. It's merely a folder packed with shortcuts to just about every settings change and administrative function in Windows 7. Everything you'll find in the Action Center, Backup and Restore, Autorun, Desktop Gadgets, Devices and Printers -- it's all there. All dumped in one central location for easy access.

Once again, here are the very simple magic instructions, as provided by the guys at Windows 7 Themes:

1. Create a new folder anywhere (you could use drive D:\ - but perhaps drive C:\ is best)

2. Rename the folder by removing 'New Folder' and pasting in the following text:

GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

That's it! You've now got your new, somewhat handy folder.

NB. By the way, I notice that if I try to use MoneyAM's 'Edit' facility with this post, then this bit of text alters itself to saying simply "GodMode." and all the rest of it just disappears. I have to start again and post the full piece of text back in again in its full original form to get it to end up reading correctly in the post. I wonder if something like this phenomena, is what you might be getting yourself?

Anyhow, when finished on your machine and done correctly, you should just see a folder in the Computer section, thast isn't coloured yellow like all the rest, but 'looking like a little blue monitor thingy on a stand'. Once you get this, then just 'double click' on it to open the folder.

I have WIN7 on a new PC and on my old WIN Vista I have for years used a software -Updata Fairshares.
I transferred the total Vista hard disc to the WIN7 one, only Updadta won`t open, all the files are there incl. the exe file, the troubleshooter won`t open them either- the one which " replicates" older Windows.
I found the Updata installation CD, but again WIN7 refuses to open that,looked on google but nothing on there works either- am I stuck?

The transferring of the disk to the new machine and the software not working is not that surprising. It may appear that you have transferred everything and it all ought to be the same, but there may be registry entries that would have been effectively part of the installed software base on the original PC. The new PC won't have those registry files as they are only set up during installation.

The problem with the installation CD is more of a mystery. It may be because you already have Updata on that disk but not installed (ie no registery files).

Not necessarily. Do you still have the old PC? If so then your current installation is fine. You might try removing all the Updata stuff on the new machine and trying Updata installation again on the new machine. I used to use Updata many years ago, but can't remember too much about it. I presume there is a licensing system. The installation is probably checking for the existance of a version on the machine that is in 'good standing' per the license. When you say that the installation CD won't open, what exactly do you mean by that in terms of actual symptoms.

If all else fail then contact updata.

Yes I did contact them, they were of no help,I only used the portfolio element of the software not the live feed.
"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of WIN7 your running.
Check your computerssystem information to see if you need x86(32bit) or 64 bit
version of the prog-and contact the software publisher-hollow laugh for the last bit.

Actually there are a couple of other transferred progs from the old PC showing the same message.
I can use the old PC if necessary but the screen is knacked, I can watch it on the tele
if necessary!

That's a different problem. Some programs meant for XP may not run in Vista or Win 7. There are features in Vista and Win 7 where you can run programs in XP compaitibility mode. Some of these features come as standard but some are only in versions such as Vista ultimate (not sure of the Win 7 equivalent). Try the Windows Help system and look for XP etc.

Bought a Philips DVD Player with USB connector for a friend as I've had a few of them myself, the USB 16GB stick works fine, but when I plug in a WD portable HD in the USB port it says Invalid Input, but it does work on mine and my computers, any ideas???

Croc running on I Mac had no probs at all at all, but now cant bring up stock watch, all other pages fine, and jave checked and updated help ??

I'm not sure if it's anything to do with your problem but I'm getting lots of error messages on Stockwatch since the last Java update. Definately with Stockwatch when it's running. 12 reports today.
This type of report appearing on my desktop :

Same here, Bolshi. Four error messages today. Stockwatch seems to hang before opening in dribs and drabs. Other MoneyAm non-streaming pages not affected and neither are streaming pages from other sites. I've posted the full error message but nobody was interested. It's been going on for some weeks now.

Skinny and cowshapedfish were having the same problem. I wonder if they have it sorted?

No - I'm still getting them but I don't use stockwatch. I seem to get it if I go off the BB to a chart or rns or similar. I did send Ian one of the reports.

Hi All,

Just a note to let you know that the Java Update 26 did cause a problem when multiple applets were loaded (e.g. combinations of stockwatches and trades applets), and then some were closed. On closing one, it caused Java to crash and that killed the remaining applets. A workaround for the problem caused by this update was put in place on Friday afternoon and seems to be working well.

I have flagged it back up to George.

In the meantime, you could try rolling back to an earlier version of Java as that is the piece of software that is reporting the error.
