FWIW, has anyone noticed that judging by the last few days all you have to do to make a few bob is go long at 1 O'clock Dow time and sell at the next days open?

Snoball: u r quite right i have been taking longs around that time( without looking at the time)lately and it seems to work.
What are your guesstimates today? Reckon will head down towards close -mild profit taking in lieu of terror threats as time gets near xmas and not leave their hard earned cash vulnerable-that would be a logical move but the market is an alien and doesnot really follow "our logic"

Have a good xmas and a propserous new year and many thanks for your undevoted work and postings on this thread. I hope with all your help we can make it one of the best ones around in the new year.

The U.S. government has received intelligence reports that al-Qaida is planning attacks against U.S. interests in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Yemen and Kenya, Cable News Network reported Tuesday, citing a senior State Department official. The official said the intelligence spells out a general threat of attack against U.S. interests in those countries, but doesn't mention a specific target, CNN reported.

Yep, zarif. Looks like they are doing just that and getting ready for the holiday. No 3 o'clock rally by the look of it.

Just got a MoneyAM email pushing Capital Spreads. Looks like they are offering good deals on the spreads. 5 points on the Dow daily. 50 per 1 deposit. Looks very tempting. Anybody using them?

re:capital spreads.
I am not using them but have opened an account online with them -have not put any money in it but am using their charting as its quite good. Couple of times did notice that their price and the market prices were different compared with ig etc.

Ym is range bound and with the mad cow scare,dollar getting a pasting on all fronts its not surprising- but one thing that i have learnt from experience and scars to prove is that in this market ASSUME NOTHING the market can do anything and with the recent weak openings and strong closings anything is possible.
ps: even if the market does not head south i am sure the traders will be full of shorts (the liquid kind) at the early closing of 18.00hrs gmt.

Due to the festive holidays the vols will be low and the volatility whipsaws etc will be high.The trend is your friend and is long.Traditionally the last 5 days before new year are up days ending the last year on a positive note so my guesstimates is long. But u should be able to hopefully scalp longs and shorts if you look at the key levels long above say 10375 and shorts from 10275 (these are daily not futures).

Yes I'm hear - I wouldn't mind knowing either!

I forgot that the US closed early on Boxing day and left a Dj long open (a first for me!). Checked in today to trade UK shares, only to find currently more than 25 pts up! All morning I've been holding off closing the position, wondering how far it may go - as I have a habit of getting out too early! Will try and hold on until US open and see what happens then.

Well done lw: U see sometimes things just happen right and no matterwhat anyone says all the ta etc helps but if "luck" is with u u cant go wrong. I hope u cream the dow today.

Thanks zarif - but I'm starting to get nervous, as the saying goes " a profit is only a profit if you take it!"

Lw: Move your s/l to lock in the profit. I think the dow is going to be up today and tomorrow and i would put the ceiling around 10410 and then down move tomorrow around 6-7pmour time. How is that for my xstal ball. Lets see if it happens like that.

Zarif, you'll have to excuse me for being dim, but I'm not sure what you mean by "move your s/l to lock in the profit"

lw: say you have position open long at 9000 (s/l at 8950) and the price now is 9200. then to lock in your profit just move the stop at say 9180.there will be a bit of trade off and also you have to watch as to how close u can move the stop depending on the s/b co and min points away from mkt etc.
