FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

Skinny, how do you manage to get my charts to show, do you save them somewhere else then think to where ever you've saved them too?

skinny - 26 Nov 2012 15:27 - 9837 of 21973

In chrome, I highlight the link you have posted, click on the 'go to http' option (which opens the chart in a new tab) copy the img url and post it thus :-

I know you use explorer which I haven't used for ages - I'll have a look later and post the explorer route - unless an explorer user would would like to!

Agh, still not working for me even if I use Chrome...... I'll have to admit defeat and accept I'm unable to post anything more than letters :-(

I've just tried to load IE but my version is in a bit of a mess - I'll look this evening.

Shortie - in chrome if you highlight the link that you have posted and right click and take the 'go to http' option.

On the tab that is opened, hover over the chart, right click and take the 'copy image url' option - then post that as the link.

Carney named as new Bank of England governor

Mark Carney has been named as the new governor of the Bank of England by Chancellor George Osborne.

Mr Carney, the governor of the Canadian central bank, will serve a fixed term of five years and will hold new regulatory powers over banks.

Mr Carney was a surprise choice for the head of the UK's central bank and had previously ruled himself out.

30 min Wall st chart, support looks to be broken. Next support 12760 if we hold below 12930 at close tonight.

well my ftse long @ 5790 seems to be holding for now

cynic - 26 Nov 2012 17:55 - 9848 of 21973

my dow long from 12916 is ok at the the moment too
AAPL continues to rumble though i confess i banked profit in about 40% earlier at 577.75, primarily because dow was then looking weak

hilary - 26 Nov 2012 17:57 - 9849 of 21973

Just for you, cynic...

231 Hedge Funds are long AAPL. That's a lot of soft dollars to pay for a triple analyst AAPL upgrade.

skinny - 26 Nov 2012 18:09 - 9850 of 21973

AAPL now +3%

cynic - 26 Nov 2012 18:12 - 9852 of 21973

thanks hils ..... i trade in/out of AAPL quite a lot, but intrinsically it's a very good company with an undemanding p/e
