Hils
Maybe I was looking for a trade to try to get back into looking at FX again. I set my stop at 1.973 and didnt change it. I guess I should wait until I have some better tools at my disposal before trying again. As I said, limited access to anything at work but hope to habve my laptop with me soon.
Thanks for the comments

Jeff,
Do yourself a favour and get re-registered and set back up for MT4. Aside from it being free, it's just so much better than any web based charts that increasingly rely upon Java. There are indicators galore (far more powerful and sophisticated than the web based indicators) that can be downloaded for MT4 to do absolutely anything.
Once you've re-installed it, let me know and I'll try to steer you in the right direction.

Hils,
I note your recent chart posting to Jeff....and was particularly impressed with the rhs legends and other stuff..arrows etc. Is that the result of all your recent hard work coding? If so, well done and is it generally available as I would like to add it to my MT4 package. Thanks in advance. JT

John,
I've basically taken indicators that are freely available, thought how I could use them better to suit my style, and then re-coded them (it sounds flash, but it's more cut'n'paste than ace coding) to suit.
The trend indicator is the culmination of many weeks and months researching and hard graft. My current project is to get an EA coded professionally based around what you can see on that chart. If I can get it to work, it is my intention to get it to automatically trade multiple instruments for me so that I can say goodbye and walk away. It's my estimation that I'm a month or two away from that, so I'm understandably quite excited.

Hils,
Wonderful, although without wanting to 'dampen' your enthusiasm I suspect walking away could be a little too ambitious. Fyi I am running some automation software, but things like the broadband going down, and Newsy stuff on certain days, tends to screw with your life. Nevertheless please keep us all posted on your endeavors. Great that your attempting this. Best, John

Funnily enough, John, the prospect of waking up in the morning to a train crash is my biggest concern. But then I think "Hey, isn't that what the stops are for?"
Besides, I wouldn't walk away completely. I'd still look in frequently to check that it was working. I can also envisage that a major hardware upgrade would be on the cards.
All of this may be jumping the gun though. Firstly, I've read that coding projects have a habit of over-running by a factor of between 2 and 5. Secondly, even if the coder delivers, I'm still not 100% sure that my system is flawless and profitable.
It may all turn out to be a major embarassment!

joh/hils...there is free software out there that will monitor your automated systems for instance i have a monitor running from another location (my mates house!) that pings my autmated set up constantly...if for whatever reason the internet connection dies it will text me straight away or you can even set ip up to call your land line.
also if my broker looses connection from routing software or chart packag looses its feed I am instantly notified and if I am not in the house you can connect via XDA
i have been doing this stuff for a long time and it is no longer difficult or expensive
there is no need in this day and age to be sat at a screen.
if you need info on any of it let me know, as i say it is all FOC

That set up sounds terrific, Treble. I did a quick bit of Googling, but nothing immediately stood out.
Does your software have a name per chance?

Thanks for that, Treble. I can now see how that would be a starting point and it's certainly sown some seeds.
I'll be in touch again if and when I can get this up and running.

As you've got a SEK feed, Doris, the Dollar Index (USDX) would be useful imo.
USDX = 50.14348112 EURUSD^(-0.576) USDJPY^(0.136) GBPUSD^(-0.119) USDCAD^(0.091) USDSEK^(0.042) USDCHF^(0.036)
