FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

Looks good now :)

cynic - 02 Feb 2018 10:38 - 21584 of 21973

DOW (cash)
showing DOWN 260 at 25,928 ...... not sure that there is any particular true reason, though no doubt some rationalisations - eg interest rates to rise in march

2517GEORGE - 02 Feb 2018 11:08 - 21585 of 21973

US 10 year treasury yield has broken a multi-decade downtrend.

what a shit week this has been

DOW currently down 320 at 25,865
DAX currently down 150 at 12,825
FTSE currently down 45 at 7,440

cynic - 02 Feb 2018 16:00 - 21591 of 21973

DOW
amazingly, it was only on 17/1 that this level (25,900) was passed
on 1/1 it stood at 24,750

Fred1new - 02 Feb 2018 17:41 - 21592 of 21973

I wonder what the market thinks of the UK economic future?

HARRYCAT - 02 Feb 2018 17:50 - 21593 of 21973

"what a shit week this has been.".......a bit emotional Mr C. Only shit if you are the wrong side of a trade surely? Most prices that go up too fast will eventually correct. Just saying!

hilary - 02 Feb 2018 18:05 - 21594 of 21973

For uppy-downey slopey lovers, we're at an interesting point right now.

cynic - 02 Feb 2018 20:05 - 21595 of 21973

WOW!
complete abdication as DOW collapses 600 points and still going

monday must surely be a total bloodbath

there'll be an awful lot of forced sales and the like, so if you're brave, there could be a good chance to make some money on the bounce as the dust settles

CC - 05 Feb 2018 08:19 - 21596 of 21973

Small long punt on FTSE at 7362

HARRYCAT - 05 Feb 2018 10:03 - 21597 of 21973

DOW futures negative so far. This afternoon FTSE might follow suit.

cynic - 05 Feb 2018 17:19 - 21598 of 21973

DOW
could have done you serious damage today unless you were very nimble and ever more lucky
it was down hugely on the cash this morning; clawed back to break evn and then dived again - now down 250 to 25,250

cynic - 05 Feb 2018 20:02 - 21599 of 21973

DOW now down 750 points to 24,750 and still looking to fall

cash DAX down 210

cash FTSE down 100
