FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

Claret Dragon - 10 Oct 2018 21:01 - 21861 of 21973

3% down

required field - 11 Oct 2018 09:37 - 21862 of 21973

Ftse just diving at the moment.....never thought this autumn would spring this....have to say....

Claret Dragon - 11 Oct 2018 10:21 - 21863 of 21973

I took a small loss on FTSE 100. Looked like a rversal candle on Tuesday

Didnt work out.

But now the question is where do we pause 6900?

cynic - 11 Oct 2018 11:54 - 21864 of 21973

cash dow is indicating another fall of 330+ and is currently sitting at 25,285

if that proves to be true say 30 minutes after the opening, then even further heavy blooodletting could ensue

Claret Dragon - 11 Oct 2018 19:34 - 21865 of 21973

FTSE 100 put toe in the water below 7000

Back to 1999 levels

Dow 10400 back then.

Sorry for history lesson but UK has not performed that well.

cynic - 11 Oct 2018 21:39 - 21866 of 21973

DOW
totally nuts
down about 700 i think at one time and also back to level and then finished -550 or something daft, with final nonsense after hours of +140 from closing level to 25,200

cynic - 16 Oct 2018 14:46 - 21867 of 21973

DAX
looking healthy for the first time is ages, having just cracked north of 11,700
can it hold it through to the morning?

cynic - 17 Oct 2018 12:27 - 21868 of 21973

DAX
now trickling back towards the 11,700 level, so depending on how weakly DOW opens, it may be worth a modest long

cynic - 18 Oct 2018 16:23 - 21869 of 21973

all markets now crumbling/crashing again :-(

Claret Dragon - 23 Oct 2018 11:40 - 21870 of 21973

cynic - 23 Oct 2018 12:37 - 21871 of 21973

HARRYCAT - 23 Oct 2018 13:57 - 21874 of 21973

Isn't that what the 'flat cap & whippet brigade' wear? You must be from 'oop norf' Stan? ;o)

cynic - 23 Oct 2018 15:24 - 21875 of 21973

nope - just army uniform

anyway, it takes a very brave or foolish man to play these current markets .... they're truly scary

Claret Dragon - 23 Oct 2018 15:35 - 21876 of 21973

Italians now got a decision to make.

Stick or twist

Stan - 23 Oct 2018 16:42 - 21877 of 21973

So the rumour goes to the first one and for the second, not any more Harry as it's too grim up north.😀

cynic - 24 Oct 2018 16:11 - 21878 of 21973

DOW collapsing yet again (-245) so taking all others with it

Claret Dragon - 24 Oct 2018 20:56 - 21879 of 21973

650 down

Stan - 24 Oct 2018 23:51 - 21880 of 21973
