FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

Claret Dragon - 12 Nov 2018 16:51 - 21901 of 21973

cynic - 20 Nov 2018 13:42 - 21907 of 21973

DOW looks to be heading for yet another hammering today

HARRYCAT - 20 Nov 2018 17:59 - 21908 of 21973

From the tv news / financial channels that I watch, I get the feeling that sentiment is starting to waver from the Bulls to the Bears. Nvidia, Apple and GM in the US have fallen heavily and the 'experts' are now talking about re-shuffling their portfolios into more defensive sectors.
Potentially higher interest rates might nudge sentiment a bit further into the defensive stocks.

cynic - 21 Nov 2018 15:11 - 21909 of 21973

DAX
just broken back north of 11,200
if it can hold then it's potentially quite important at least in the short term

FTSE
teasing to go above 7025
keep watching

Claret Dragon - 22 Nov 2018 11:35 - 21910 of 21973

Back down again.

cynic - 03 Dec 2018 02:53 - 21911 of 21973

HARRYCAT - 04 Dec 2018 17:40 - 21913 of 21973

US markets shut tomorrow, I think, for the funeral of G W Bush.

Fred1new - 04 Dec 2018 21:42 - 21914 of 21973

Dow down 3+%.

Stan - 04 Dec 2018 21:44 - 21915 of 21973

Claret Dragon - 05 Dec 2018 08:25 - 21916 of 21973

cynic - 06 Dec 2018 07:04 - 21918 of 21973

cash indicators are vile once again, the markets being upset (apparently)by the arrest of this Huawei woman ..... surely not another implication that the chinese are eager to infiltrate western data on all levels?

meanwhile, the real labour leader says .....
Unite leader warns Labour against backing second referendum

Claret Dragon - 06 Dec 2018 07:09 - 21919 of 21973
