Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

sorry sticky ...... went out and am currently in the process of ripping John Lewis to shreds for adopting a Ryanair mentality ...... my home course is one of the "surrey belt", and if you play golf, you should be able to work out which one is in the middle of a housing estate!

TANKER I think that Fred and cynic are the best posters on the board if you go on english presentation etc etc..
Both brilliant.
Wish I was in their league.
My things maths and making money but id swap it for what they have.
May seem humble but I put inteligence higer than wealth any day.
Look at me a £56 million fortune but can I post with panache like they do........no way.
Id swap any day.

?????????? how can you equate living in Cornwall with Northampton?????? ....... the similarity ends with, "ah well, the houses all have roofs, doors and windows"

let's put it this way - you'ld enjoy it a lot so long as you could ditch your chips at the gate! ..... actually, a number of guests have expressed surprise that the club and (especially) its staff are not in the the remotest sniffy

you wish! .... and strangely enough, we play golf at our golf club and if we discuss politics - certainly not unknown - then it is done without banner waving
you really do carry a whole bag of potatoes on your shoulder
for example - if it's a "name" golf club, then
1) there must be a lot of attractive, bored housewives looking for a shag with anyone
2) the members must all be frightfully self-important or worse
your unconsidered precepts and prejudices are truly farcical
perhaps you should look over the allotment fence occasionally, and you might perceive why you are often seen here as a very silly boy who thinks that anyone who happened to be brought up into (a semblance of) money, is garbage, has never done a hard day's work in his life, and has no idea of "the real world" ...... perhaps it is you who have no idea of that

JOHN LEWIS - Ryanair mentality
the short version, and confess to being apoplectic (cynic apoplectic? you may ask)
needed a new fridge and microwave for the office
easy-peasy .....
zanussi fridge with optional left/right-hand hinge.
left-handed please ..... that'll be an extra £30 as we'll have to switch it ..... excuse me, but it's offered as either/or so get one from zanussi if you don't have in stock ..... no!
delivery ..... JL deliver between 07:00 and 14:00 ..... but we're an office ...... in that case, to get delivery between 09:00 and 13:00 will cost an extra £50 ..... no offer to make the necessary note for the delivery guys; just take it or leave it
i cancelled the order on the spot
i then tried to speak to "director level" at h/o, but you're not allowed to do that
manager of customer relations (a misnomer if ever there was one) to whom one gets defaulted can and will only quote company policy back .... she could offer no logic as to why either charge
you want to shop at JL again?
i don't and hope i won't .... though with great reluctance shall continue to use waitrose as its quality/choice is head and shoulders above the opposition

I'm not sure which is more vomit inducing, the arrogant, obnoxious goldfinger or the trying to be nice goldfinger.
But I have never heard any golfer referring to their playing ability as 'par' generally the term scratch is favoured. Maybe it's some Lancashire expression? Or maybe someone is having a fantasty induced moment?
