Dowgate Capital (DGT) are sitting
in the middle of a goldmine!
This company through
their sole trading arm City Financial Associates are looking to take full
advantage of the "booming" AIM market this year.
Dowgate provide NOMAD (NOMinated ADvisor) services to AIM companies
and also have full Corporate Broker status which means that they can fund
placements on behalf of the companies they represent.
|
|
On first sight, the
fact that Dowgate exist in the often veiled financial services sector
makes you think twice about investing in company such as this because
it would be impossible to understand what they were doing - however, think
again!
DGT bring new companies
to the AIM (Alternative Investment Market). For each new company "floated"
on AIM, they take arrangement fees when acting as NOMAD. After the company
is launched then for a nice steady earner DGT get another healthy chunk
of cash every year for looking after them (note that all AIM companies
must have a nominated adviser - thereby securing a ready source of recurring
income).
Because DGT also act
as a Corporate broker they can get a very healthy percentage for arranging
placement of shares with insititutions before a new company floats. In
addition, because placements come outside the sphere of yearly NOMAD work,
they can also gain healthy percentages of placements which companies may
need to make throughout the year when they need a quick injection of cash
to speed growth.
Current NOMADships:
28 companies represented (gives recurring income of approx 480,000
per year)
Current on-going Brokerage
agreements: 19 companies (income depends on placements)
For flotations, depending
on the size of a company, fees charged will be anything from 50,000
to 100,000+
For placements (the real earner), DGT get anything from 3% to around 12%
of the TOTAL AMOUNT RAISED - For example a new company raising 3M
though a placement will earn DGT anything from 90,000 to 360,000
!
These figures are indicative as actual deals all differ due to circumstances
and DGT sometimes take payment in shares - they still have a tasty chunk
of Setstone shares and when this Russian exploration company comes back
to AIM, predictions are that the share price will rocket.
Note that the amount that this little company can earn in fees is huge
and every new deal that comes through we know will contribute another
healthy chunk into the bottom line. The good news with every new floatation
means that it's another chunk of recurring revenue which could go on for
years, with DGT having to do very little.
New clients gained in 2005 are:
Mediazest
(NOMAD & broker) Elite Strategies (NOMAD) Process Handling (NOMAD) Poland Investment Fund (NOMAD) Nanotech Energy (NOMAD & broker) Archimedia Ventures (NOMAD & broker) Red Leopard Holdings (NOMAD) Alba Mineral Resources (NOMAD & broker) Intandem Films (NOMAD & broker) Motive Television (NOMAD) IncaGold (NOMAD) Sportswinbet (NOMAD & Broker) Infoscreen Networks (NOMAD & Broker) Mark Kingsley (NOMAD & Broker) Croatia Ventures (NOMAD & Broker) Pantheon Leisure (NOMAD) Firenze Ventures (Ofex Advisor) FlightStore Group (NOMAD & Broker) Euro Capital Projects (NOMAD) Pearl Street Holdings (NOMAD) Worldwide Natural Resources (Ofex Advisor) Dovedale Ventures (Ofex Advisor) Other 2005 work completed:Neptune-Calculus VCT offer for subs of up to 12 million

Volume about 100K. Probably mostly buys as two transactions accounted for 10.5 million shares at 0.54p; likely reported late (half marked as B - presumably a broker to broker transaction?). Some optimism for 2007. So good luck all and a prosperous new year!

Capper, I'm happy with what I have, but at .45p, I would have had to have bought more.

Hi All !
Is there a date for results as yet?

Even The Shark would've bought @ 0.45p, Rod! But a penny by March, Eric? Respectfully disagree, sir (as this would be a 67% rise which I cannot believe based on recent performance). Continue to spectate from the fence for the time being...

Last year price almost doubled (to 0.95p) in March from lower trading base, either side of 0.5p and the same I recall happened in previous year - althoughcharts don't go back far enough. Not hugely confident because we don't have visibility of trading picture. One possibility is that sp could rise, say to 0.9p ahead of the results which could disappoint. Having said that present price is below acquisition price of SPE and is a bit of a no-brainer.

Results last year were March 1. Expect something similar this year, although possible that the necessary acquisition accounting will take a week or two longer to audit and agree.
Was hoping for a trading update in the next few days, but that's not really TR's style. So I guess we'll just have to wait.
MarcusA -why ever not!?! Last year the SP went from 0.49p at the beginning of January to 0.98p on March 9 - a faster reflection of the previous year's performance when it went from 0.40p in Jan to 0.85p on July 18. The size of the rise has nothing to do wiith anything - other than it is the established pattern for this share. It's the scale of undervaluation being recognised that will drive this big leap when it comes. Even on weak recent results of only say 1m net profits to Dec 31, that's still a PE of only 6.7. If Q1 07 and the foreward looking statements are good at results time, then there is every reason to expect the SP to rise as suddenly as it has on previous occasions. That does not come with a guarantee or imply that I am betting on this happening - it's just that it is certainly well within any spectrum of probable SP action anyone could reasonably predict from here.
As I am now fully loaded at break even price of 0.577p I am happy to hold until the happy event unfolds and then some.
See you sitting on the sidelines as we whizz past! Give us a wave.

Stockdog,
I have traded this co. (long, med. & short term) going way back to its Abinger days and made a few en route every time, glad to say. However this time around the cycle may not be so good as the AIM Market environment has changed c.t. 12 months ago. Just not AS favourable as it was, IMO. Question for you: IYO, why has the sp back-tracked after every single climb which you describe, above? Why hasn't Dowgate moved onward & upward towards 2p, 3p... and beyond? Sorry, that was 2 questions!

I cannot forecast to you the action of DGT. It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma; but perhaps there is a key. That key is Rawlinson's natural interest.

marcus. You had two replies, form sd and myself, which effectiely said the same thing. Its an interesting pattern. I did sound a not of caution but I believe its odds on that the same pattern will recur again. Once the results are out, the price will quite likely fall back on the OOSOOM principle but it is on teh cards that a reassessment is made by the market and the price moves further ahead or at least holds its level. Worth having a stake at current price because that doesn't hold any hostages to fortune.
