World cup 2010, What chances for the Home sides and Ireland !. (2010)

required field - 12 Oct 2008 18:43

Thought I'd start a football blog, we might keep this going until 2010.....England doing well....did not see the match or even the goals....I'd like Michael owen back in the squad though....and I think Peter Crouch would make a very good substitute...remember against Argentina in Geneva a few years ago....with Michael Owen and some very good movements on and off the ball...they caused havoc.....did see Scotland's missed chance....that could be very costly losing those 2 points !.

Tabasco, Redknapp lost his first game 10-0, yes he did get Bournemouth promotion but he also got them relagated 2 years later. He tries to be the cheeky chappy cockney but he taps players up look what Steve Bruce and Benitez have had to say in the last week?. As for West Ham and the young players he produced Tony Carr the youth coach at West Ham must take most of the credit for Cole, Lampard, Ferdinad x2, Defoe, etc and he is still producing good players. Redknapp was also sacked from his job with the Seattle Sounders And got Southampton relagated (but I must say what a great job he did there all Pompey fans will be ever greatful to him for that). Look at the money he has spent at the clubs he has been at.
As for Tony Adams this guy should be given a chance a young English manager we have no money and he is doing the best job he can, he may well get the sack but most fans are behind him at the moment, if we go down then so be it. As to your History Question as i said before we at Portsmouth have had a great 5 years but thats what it is History. I see somebody up top is reading my last post as it looks like Defoe is out for the season. anyway predictions for relagation please here's mine 1. West Brom, 2. Middlesbrough, 3. Newcastle/Stoke.

Flasher - Difficult call on the relegation front this year - personally I think Hull could be one despite their start.

Newcastle - may well depend on the activity over the next few days.

Stoke - Yes please

WBA - unfortunate, as they are a good club on and off the pitch

Joe Say....about Aston Villa...with a couple of extra players : I could see them being close to the top next year, this season regardless of yesterday's result the Gunners are struggling to keep up with them.....anyway we shall see !, my tips (for what it's worth ) for relegation : West Brom, Portsmouth and Middlesbrough !.

Buzz is Adams sacked Monday. Who's out there?.

Stan - 01 Feb 2009 17:08 - 266 of 1154

On the cards from the moment he was appointed, so not surprised if true.

flasher - 02 Feb 2009 15:17 - 267 of 1154

It seems they have kissed and made up for a couple of more games.

Under Adams Portsmouth won only two league games the last of which was against Blackburn Rovers on 30 November and Pompey were knocked out of the FA Cup by Swansea Citythey would have been relegated without doubtthe loyal bods have acted to give the new manager a fighting chance(now do you understand loyalty in football Flasher) I have pretty much been right about Pompey so farA. Curbishley will be their next Managerhe will also save them from relegation.just in the nick of time Flasher!

Scolari sacked by Chelsea

flasher - 09 Feb 2009 17:10 - 271 of 1154

tabasco, The simple facts are Pompey fans didn't want him sacked Like i said if he did take us down then so be it the truth is sell Muntari, Defoe, Mendez, Diarra, Total 50 million then you are going to struggle. We played well and could have beat Liverpool on saturday the real people who should take the blame are Distin, Campbell and James etc. Loyalty is supporting your team and manager when times are shit ie going to Doncaster on a wednesday evening then working the next day. Unless English managers are given a chance are national team will never have an English manager. I am surprised you never predicted Scolari being sacked 3rd in the league 20 wins from 35 looks like Zola for Chelsea. Avram Grant is staying in a hotel down here!. ps Redknapp is a TWAT and always will be.

tabasco - 09 Feb 2009 17:31 - 272 of 1154

FlasherI hope you get what all the supporters wantwhether it be success or a likeable personality...........In Alan Curbishley you will have probably bothIn Avram Grant you may not get either?

flasher - 09 Feb 2009 18:15 - 273 of 1154

Thank you

flasher - 10 Feb 2009 19:13 - 274 of 1154

Poor old Tony couldn't even win the the news headlines for a day, bloody Chelsea go and sack Scolari.

required field - 12 Feb 2009 16:49 - 275 of 1154

How about Terry Venables for Portsmouth.....he's very quiet at the moment !....saw some of the game.... and England badly missed the likes of Joe Cole, Gerrard, Owen, Rooney...just too many good players not there....those newcomer England players must understand that they must play quick little exchanges on the attack in midfield against the likes of Spain and such...the ball down the wing and over is unlikely to work very much against top opposition...the players have to be closer together at times...being spread out too much in a game like that is not going to pay off going forward !.

required field - 12 Feb 2009 16:52 - 276 of 1154

Have to mention Ecuador once again...they beat our under 21's I see...(remember Greece in 2004) !.....how about that country springing a surprise at the next world cup...South American dark horses in 2010 ?.

flasher - 12 Feb 2009 17:31 - 277 of 1154

Betting suspended on Roy Keane, but I think they may well keep with Hart and Kidd until the outcome of the survival battle is over. Mexico losing to the States may be Sven on the way.

required field - 17 Feb 2009 10:16 - 278 of 1154

Gunners through....big chance of a big four in the cup semis... : Arsenal, ManU, Chelsea and Everton.....bets on who could win it ?...the cup being the cup..a surprise is always possible !.

required field - 25 Feb 2009 09:06 - 279 of 1154

MU and Arsenal played well last night....both could go through, must keep that defense tight in the return legs....we shall see what results the reds and blues come up with tonight !.

required field - 26 Feb 2009 20:19 - 280 of 1154

As far as I'm concerned...pretty good results in the Champions league...no losses and not one goal conceded...roll on the second legs....2 teams through would be good, 3 would be great, 4 would be mighty impressive !,.....I have to question the idea of Spurs and Villa not playing to full strength.....Spurs are in the league cup final on sunday (cannot see them winning this time !) but could play some of their best players in the second half of the Uefa tie if things go wrong....Villa ?....they have just lost but over the whole of the rest of the season ?...it would not make any difference !, resting them !!!?....it is Europe after all..takes a lot of doing just getting there !.
