Referendum : to be in Europe or not to be ?, that is the question ! (REF)

required field - 03 Feb 2016 10:00

Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

Haystack - 05 Jul 2016 15:37 - 4241 of 12628

I am just being realistic.

VICTIM - 05 Jul 2016 15:38 - 4242 of 12628

Maybe if you kept the EU out cap on instead of removing it depending on what suits a particular individual at the time . You are very confusing to say the least , stick to one side please Haystack .

cynic - 05 Jul 2016 15:38 - 4243 of 12628

a 2nd referendum would be truly preposterous and throw the whole exercise into disrepute
as one makes one bed, so must one lie in it

Haystack - 05 Jul 2016 15:39 - 4244 of 12628

I have seen the games that are played in parliament close up. I was working in Westminster as part of Ken Clarke's campaign team when he stood for leader in 2005.

Haystack - 05 Jul 2016 15:44 - 4245 of 12628

I do think a second referendum would be a mistake and would bring democracy into disrepute. That, of course, would not prevent it from happening.

I wonder what the feeling across the country would be if we go into a recession, house prices fall, unemployment rises. These are all thing that are on the cards over the next few years even before we leave the EU.

Only the last two days, two major Property funds (Aviva today) have stopped trading due to liquidity problems. It may be up to 2 years before people can withdraw funds from them. They may both have forced sales of their commercial property at low prices due to lack of business confidence.

I was Maggie Thatchers right hand man ,we were in love back then .

Fred1new - 05 Jul 2016 15:54 - 4247 of 12628

If one makes a contract on falsified information, as could be argued has happened during the referendum, I think that a court of law may look kindly on the submission to nullify the contract.

Haystack - 05 Jul 2016 15:56 - 4248 of 12628

Sky reporting just now that a recession is odds on for the end of this year.

VICTIM - 05 Jul 2016 15:56 - 4249 of 12628

I wonder how long the EU will wait for us to actually start to leave , If I was them I'd throw us out . Even Merkel has said get on with it ffs . Is this the beginning of the end or the end of the beginning or erm something . If a picture paints a thousand words then why can't i paint EU . It takes two to tango , What's love got to do with it .Virgin on the ridiculous .

cynic - 05 Jul 2016 15:57 - 4250 of 12628

the same could be said of any general election stretching back centuries!

Haystack - 05 Jul 2016 16:00 - 4251 of 12628

Being reported that Fox will be eliminated this evening (no surprise) and Gove may quit.

It will be interesting to see if MPs vote for Crabb in the next roudn to keep Andrea out of the last two. If they do then they will have an all Remainer contest for leader.

Keep your betting money in your pocket on this one, Haystack.

LEADSOM LEADS: New poll of Tory activists shows Brexiteer BEATING Theresa May for PM

ANDREA Leadsom has surged ahead of Theresa May in the race to become Britain's next Prime Minister, a bombshell poll suggests.

jimmy b - 05 Jul 2016 16:02 - 4253 of 12628

This is getting ridiculous ,what is the matter with everyone ? read my lips, we are leaving the EU ,the British people voted OUT ,end of story.

And yes we could change the result of any future election if this was overturned .

Haystack - 05 Jul 2016 16:03 - 4254 of 12628

Conservative Home is a very biased site. I have been following their nonsense for a few weeks now.

jimmy b - 05 Jul 2016 16:04 - 4255 of 12628

You were saying without doubt that we would remain Haystack so i wouldn't bet your money.

VICTIM - 05 Jul 2016 16:04 - 4256 of 12628

You have to admire Haystack , he just doesn't give a feck what other people think just keeps banging on and on .

VICTIM - 05 Jul 2016 16:06 - 4257 of 12628

Yes jimmy even Diane Abbot said the vote stands and we are out and should get on with making it work .

Haystack - 05 Jul 2016 16:12 - 4258 of 12628

The poll in the Express from Conservative Home was published yesterday and based on analysis done previous to that.

Haystack - 05 Jul 2016 16:13 - 4259 of 12628

I am not saying that we will definitely remain. I just think there is a strong chance. Public opinion may well change over the next couple of years.

VICTIM - 05 Jul 2016 16:19 - 4260 of 12628

I had a feeling you might slaughter Leadsom's case .
