I don't know if anybody was watching this on Bet Angel but every now and again somebody was coming into the market and laying 10k+ on the horse. Some very big volume on the lay side going through. Just looked so obvious to me, so obvious. So I laid it a 1.78

Chelsea's odds look a little skinny to me away to Charlton, currently priced @ 1.62

Charlton are off to a good start and it is well documented that local matches are much more likely to be closely contested.

Backing Charlton on this one. Chelsea although undefeated are not playing well. Charlton on the other hand have had a very good start and are scoring goals. If there is a good time to turn the Blues over it might just be now. Only a small bet, but with the odds as they are it does have its attractions.

Surely backing charlton is the wrong bet, Chelsea havent conceded a goal yet (i think - if they have its only one) - if you think Chelsea are short and Charlton have a chance then surely you should lay Chelsea (and have the draw in your favour) - from a trading perspective you can trade out if Charlton go ahead or if 0-0 at half time. Charlton price will drift as the game goes on and your only chance to trade out is if they go 1-0 up

Having read some of the recent comments coming out of chelsea, im seriously tempted to back 0-0 in chelsea games and trade out after 15-20 mins though want to look into what % of games last yr they scored or conceded in the first 20 mins versus the decay in 0-0 odds

Goal scoring this year in the premiership has been very slow at around an average of 2.00 goals a game. Historically well below the norm. I am working on a lucky league this year which aims to indentify potential shocks by pricing teams that have played well but not scored well and vice versa. No idea what will come from it but just playing and documenting for this year.

I am sure what you say is probably correct from a trading perspective, but this is just a punt on a feeling rather than disciplined trading. I am sure Scrip will knock that out of me during the course!

Problem with laying Chelsea is that (as I see it) the return would be so much smaller or I would have to risk more. I may be able to trade my way out if Chelsea were to take the lead, but to be honest not too sure how to do that effectively at the moment, so sticking with the smaller 'back' bet and hoping for the best.

Also playing golf tomorrow, which complicates matters slightly, but have left an unmatched lay bet against Charlton at lower odds in the event that they manage to take the lead at some point.

fair enough - 1 thing - if Charlton do take the lead the market will be suspended and all pending bets cancelled hence this bet will not get filled whatever happens

Steve is right from the perspective of chance of success a lay draw or Chelsea would give you multiple profit opportunities but if you are playing golf then that sort of scuppers it.
