AFR ,,, (AFR)

TheFrenchConnection - 20 Mar 2006 15:46

Amities . l have been discreetly buying this stock since it was 39p . And the more i learn the bolder are the positions i take . .....Floated in Dec 2004 it was oversubscribed and before costs the required $15 million was raised. At the helm is ex BP head of Global exploration and Resavoir management . Furthermore a success story at Global Expo . Now Nick Johnstone wants to set up on his own . And after speaking to him l am not at all surprised . He is like a "Who s Who " of the hydrocarbon world ...He has ALL the prerequisites for success so why work for some other lackey ! .. namely connections from his ertwhistle employers . He has assembled a first class management team from ex colleauges at BP ; and is his business model is simple . AFR farms in on "Big Oils " inception upstream ; and with its scale of economy it works closely with "Big oils" fields on the look out for excellent workovers oppertunities .... Already lt has via a complicated j/v a percentage of the Sao Tome and Principe acreage -Located between the oil rich waters of Nigeria and those of Sao Tome and operated by Texaco / Chevron and Esso; and believed by many to be the new North sea . . 3D Seismic testing and magnetic graphic imagery and satellite imaging has located a labyrinth of channels leading to a main resavoir which is believed to14-15 mmbbls of oil and which would leave AFR with its share of 120/140 million barrels for NO cash outlay .To ensure early cash generation Afren has entered into a production sharing agreement in the developed Ogedeh field { adjacent to the BP operated Olowi marin field which is believed to yield 180 mmbbloe. Furthernore AFR has agreed to drill the lbekelia project for Ascent resources which is expected to produce 2,500 b/pdoe to satisfy AFR percentile share ,ln addition it is a believed resouce of several years . .. , .Not a bad start for a company with little more than six months in the making . ....and well worthy of investigation !! .....@+ J

ceo says nothing to worry about but delayed for a few days ---technical hitch at the accountants!! for those with faith this is another chance to get in before tomorrow's presentation--unfortunately I have no spare left to add to my holding. cynics might say --just as well!

cynic - 31 Mar 2009 12:43 - 582 of 655

cynic is an arsehole and topped up at 39.0

required field - 31 Mar 2009 13:34 - 583 of 655

Profit taking today, but the pullback should bring the buyers back !....50p plus still on as long as no oil price drop !.

cynic - 31 Mar 2009 14:06 - 584 of 655

pullback is more likely due to with the disquiet of delayed results.
it either IS something to worry about, or time to sack auditors .... i hope the latter

just as importantly, AFR should have put out a soothing announcement about this delay - i see none - which is just basic, good and sensible PR

required field - 31 Mar 2009 22:31 - 585 of 655

Moneyplus and Niceonecyril say there is a hitch of some kind,.....not very clever from Afren.....why not inform the shareholders with an announcement of some kind that there is a small delay !.

cynic - 01 Apr 2009 07:18 - 586 of 655

new rns says figures monday 6th april

niceonecyril - 01 Apr 2009 07:21 - 587 of 655

niceonecyril - 01 Apr 2009 07:21 - 588 of 655

market will be better informed?
cyril
PS. check URU, some very interesting developments?

niceonecyril - 01 Apr 2009 08:04 - 589 of 655

The RNSseems to have done the trick, plenty of buys coming in.

Here's a stock worth checking out,IRV copied by a very smart barra boy.

It's cheaper than that - 28.7p or more Div here over 55 weeks.

If you're a long tern buyer and net that divi off then over 57 weeks these shares cost you 158p - the PE would be 3.6 on that basis.

Not only that but director buys in the past week:

23.2K @ 213p
17K @ 200p
13.4K @ 199p.

How much hand holding do investors need? I can only think the punter out there are just shell shocked and think these are too cheap to be true, as they did with WSH @ 180p recently.

Earnings grew 16% in this recession, the divi was raised 5%.

Where are the true investors? There will be punters screaming about buying these so cheap @ 3 on a PE of 6 in the not too distant future imo.

Borrowed from another bb Hope ok talha2

this was posted on 111 on Monday by a poster called cosiwant 2 before the expected and now delayed results.

I posted this a few days ago (Monday):

I have a Bloomberg terminal so can get access to latest analyst research on Afren.

Net Income is forecast to be:

2009 46.45 mn
2010 173.45 mn
2011 248 mn

I anticipate that these figures will be revised upwards tomorrow when the analysts have had a chance to review the latest figures. As well, if the oil price increases this will obviously cause these figures to be revised upwards as well.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
the same poster then posts this today

The most meaningful figures are the:

SALES:

2009 331 Million

2010 463 Million

2011 971 Million

PRE-TAX PROFIT

2009 107 Million

2010 213 Million

2011 494 Million

EPS

2009 16.7p/share

2010 16.0p/share (does not make sense given that turnover & profits are increasing)

2011 53.0p/share

I have been disheartened by the management's handling of the release of their results. However, I believe that this company's prospects are excellent given the expected growth in their earnings
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

from talha2 now

I can see from above why Afr need the full attention of analyst when they release results ,they have a staggering and phenomenal growth story to tell

kkeith2000 - 02 Apr 2009 09:57 - 595 of 655

Hello blanche hope your keeping well,,, from the dizzy heights from last year now down to these levels like many stocks now.
Am still holding as many from last year after some buying and selling some in order to keep a good average price
Looking forward to the results Monday, the future figures are staggering that was posted thanks ( maybe sometime soon we will be able to crack open that bottle of wine)

Take care Keith

A lot of thanks should go to the French connection who first started this thread.

cynic - 02 Apr 2009 12:17 - 597 of 655

unfortunately, he seems to have been guillotined many months ago ..... perhaps found guilty of gross verbosity!

cynic - 02 Apr 2009 12:44 - 598 of 655

quite heavy traffic today and sp off yet again, though buys/sells do not seem overly unmatched.
either there's something nasty to appear with monday's figures, or peeps are banking profits ahead of fiscal y/e or shorters are going to get badly burnt

niceonecyril - 02 Apr 2009 13:37 - 599 of 655

cynic i think your right, shorters and e/y sales? Maybe take down to 30p tomorrow
morning then i would expect them to close? So i just topped up, look forward to mondays results and possibly some news?
cyril

blanche - 02 Apr 2009 13:38 - 600 of 655

Hi Kieth long time no speak. Tell me about it!! Trying to buy as many as i can at these stupid levels. Average down at 31p so should be quids in in years to come. Always been one for my pension this.

Cynic cant see any bad news coming here. Like you have said mixture of profit taking by peeps that brought in the teens and shorters getting out. The buys and the sells are simalar down to long termers buying up more. IMO 8-)
