World cup 2010, What chances for the Home sides and Ireland !. (2010)

required field - 12 Oct 2008 18:43

Thought I'd start a football blog, we might keep this going until 2010.....England doing well....did not see the match or even the goals....I'd like Michael owen back in the squad though....and I think Peter Crouch would make a very good substitute...remember against Argentina in Geneva a few years ago....with Michael Owen and some very good movements on and off the ball...they caused havoc.....did see Scotland's missed chance....that could be very costly losing those 2 points !.

I have two questions about doppelgangers : why is Raymond Domenech (the french trainer) disguised as the fish in Stingray...you know the episode when the "webbed thing" visits the earthlings on dry land and has to disguise itself...and how come Van Nistelroy is the employee of the month !.....answers on a postcard please.....

Surprised no opinions expressed re:JT.

JoeI dont expect you would wont to hear my viewbut as you have asked.I would ban him from playing for England till after the World CupChelsea should strip him of the captaincyfine him a shed load of money and donate it to a charity that helps Woman with similar problems to his Wife except they have no financial back-upnowhere to live children to look afterno incomeetc he lives a privileged lifeis a roll model for young kids aspiring to the greatest English sports honourhe now wants to be a Squire in a Country Mansionthere is no disputing he is a very good footballerbut as a person he is rotten to the corethe story is well documentedhe has done the dirty many times beforedidnt his Mother along with his Mother-in-law get arrested for shoplifting last year?the Guy has two children he is prepared to risk for a bit on the sidenice chap his wife would get a 10ml settlementand his ex. Lover is open to offers around 250,000 for the storyI hope they both get it.just because he thinks he can do anything with his feetdont mean to say he can do anything with his dick!!!.do not mess with loved ones emotionsunless you are prepared to take the consequences

When will Guys learn that women are so much more than a fannythe few jaded strumpets that seduce for fameoffer little else!!! Mind you his Mum kept his name nice and easy for spellingit all becomes clear now!

Joe Say - 02 Feb 2010 18:41 - 645 of 1154

Tabsaco - view well expressed but playing devils advocate

Why the focus on JT, and not the strumpet that has played 2 footballers off at least, is selling her story to the paper and will no doubt go for every penny from her ex's.

Does she hold any blame ?

And why was the story billed initially using the term "team-mate", conveniently distorting the real time line ?

tabasco - 03 Feb 2010 07:43 - 646 of 1154

Joe.I have a philosophy in life that I try and maintain in all situationsI am not a religious freakfar from itprobably been a little too naughty over the years but do unto others as you would have others do unto you. [Matthew 7:12]my Mother installed that at a young age and it is as good a measure of a human being that you can getJT has a wife and two children that he should have loved above allthe strumpet had another notch to gain and nothing to loosethey both had equal choicewho would you blame?

Joe Say - 03 Feb 2010 18:33 - 647 of 1154

Fair point, and judging by todays rumours seems only the beginning of it all. If even partially true he'll have to step down as Englands captain.

However, still doesn't excuse the initial "team mate" billing - how the media like to moralise, even when they're plainly mispresenting the facts.

tabasco - 04 Feb 2010 09:32 - 648 of 1154

Jermain Defoe illustrated what a handful he is last nightsure he missed a few chancesbut his movement off a tight marking centre forwardmade him unstoppablehe created several more chances then any other English striker would have Wayne Rooney is a fantastic all-round playerthat plays in the holeDefoe is the best finisher we haveFabio will pick him as our No1 striker for the World Cup that I am sure!Harry is a shrewd judge and has signed him a number of timesincluding as a fifteen year oldwill some on here that dont rate himjust follow him around on a matchyou will be surprised at the chances he creates from nothing.

required field - 04 Feb 2010 12:59 - 649 of 1154

He's improving, no doubt but still misses too many chances....this looks very good for the national side......with both main strikers in tremendous form.....Spurs might not make the final if they bump into Chelsea or ManCity (not so good in defense) a good side that puts them under pressure will notch up quite a few goals against them and on a day when the Crouch-Defoe partnership fails will leave them stranded .....Leeds have done well and their coffers will be topped up : they must gain promotion to the Championship.....after that who knows... a year later, the premiership possibly ?.

tabasco - 04 Feb 2010 13:39 - 650 of 1154

RFI am not a Spurs fanbut I know a good player when I see onehad Jermain Defoe been called RonodonodinnioorJazonodondinnio.he would be the envy of English fans and have a 70ml. Price tag

Chris Carson - 04 Feb 2010 13:55 - 651 of 1154

Tab - Just a thought If Rooney and Defoe were companys, which one would you buy and who would pay the highest Divi? :o)

tabasco - 04 Feb 2010 16:03 - 652 of 1154

Chriswithout wishing to be a Politicianyour question has not got a straightforward answerif the players were companiesI would go with the better marketed and known brandRooney.if I was a football manager that needed a goal scorerI would buy Defoe without questionRooney is a superb talent that works hard for his teamif as a Manager I owned both playersin the current marketwhich is tightI would value Rooney at around the same price City paid for Tevez.47ml and Defoe around 35ml.I favour Rooney value wise as he would be worth more to a club taking into account his commercial valuebums on seatsshirts etc, . I have been saying Defoe is Englands best Goalscorer for the last five yearsI have not seen anything in those years to make me change my mind. Just my opinion of courseI am going to upset RF nowand say I value Michael Owens free transfer to United as expensive

required field - 04 Feb 2010 16:12 - 653 of 1154

The problem is Spurs are not exactly playing in Europe that much and great strikers in my book have to.....the defenders in those games are much better than the average run of the mill premiership ones where one little turn sends them the wrong way, that won't work against the Barca's, Milans etc...so J.Defoe has to carry on scoring when playing for the national side...he's doing well and let's hope this form carries on.....because a couple of years ago he was hopeless...what a change now !........M. Owen....needs to get on the field and achieve some sharpness...

tabasco - 04 Feb 2010 16:41 - 654 of 1154

RFthe Premier League is Europe!!!! and the best league in the World to say Defoe was hopeless a couple of years agoastounds meSpurs were the bottom club in October 2008.Harry comes.soon signs Defoebingounder two years and challenging the big threewhat part of that dont you get?

required field - 04 Feb 2010 16:50 - 655 of 1154

He used to miss chance after chance, at some stage, I think it was against Jamaica it was like missing an elephant in a corridor......not now, he's a much better striker...I wish him well...and could be one of the revelations of the world cup because outside Britain not many people will know about him.....must go because the markets are costing me...damn...

ptholden - 04 Feb 2010 16:58 - 656 of 1154

If you compare Defoe's Premiership record v Rooney, there is little comparison. Rooney has outscored Defore most seasons and that whilst playing behind other recognised strikers. This season Rooney is already five ahead, indicative of his new role post Ronaldo. Whilst Defoe rarely tracks back (fair enough for a striker) Rooney can be found all over the pitch, his energy is astonishing.

tabasco - 04 Feb 2010 17:05 - 657 of 1154

RFhe appears to miss chances because he creates so many.any footballer is only in possession of the ballon average around 3-4 minutes in a full matchso what do they do with the other 86 minutesdo me a favour and watch how Defoe makes runsbends runspulls off defendersswitches sidesgets in more shots than mostwhich other players benefit fromsavesfollow upsdeflections.he shuts down defenders.is like a whippet and his work rate is phenomenalis it a coincidence that clubs he leaves do badand clubs he joins do good?RF dont ever apply for the England job.please.

Chris Carson - 04 Feb 2010 17:17 - 658 of 1154

Tab - As an Evertonian Rooney and I admit this is a very childish view in the red of Man Utd is a fat greedy bastard! However In an England shirt he is the finest player our country has witnessed for many years and provided he avoids injury can get even better! No brainer who is more important to the National team. :o)))

ptholden - 04 Feb 2010 17:19 - 659 of 1154

Since making his debut at the age of 17 in 1999 Defoe has scored 95 Premiership goals, an average of just over 7. Or put another way he scores a goal every 3 games.

Rooney on the other hand has scored 100 premiership goals since making his debut in 2001, an average of just over 11; however, he scores on average once every 2 games, pretty good for someone who has not historically played as the main front man.

There really is no comparison.

ptholden - 04 Feb 2010 17:23 - 660 of 1154

If you want more proof how much Rooney means to his team he has accumulated 88 assists compared to Defoe's 44 during their Premiership careers, not dificult to see who adds more to the team ethic!
