Referendum : to be in Europe or not to be ?, that is the question ! (REF)

required field - 03 Feb 2016 10:00

Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

HARRYCAT - 14 Apr 2016 12:55 - 721 of 12628

What, a bit like Australia competing in the Eurovision song contest then??? ;o)

grannyboy - 14 Apr 2016 13:12 - 722 of 12628

stan how fricking stupid can you and your botty buddy fred get?????

"perhaps you might like to have a look at an atlas,
and note that USA/China/Brazil are no where near Europe so obviously
are never going to be members of it"

YOU do realise how STUPID that reply comes across as???

BUT they DO trade with the EU....And they DO NOT have
to be a member or pay a membership fee.......

jimmy b - 14 Apr 2016 13:19 - 723 of 12628

and note that USA/China/Brazil are no where near Europe so obviously
are never going to be members of it"
------------------

Stan neither are we soon .

Haystack - 14 Apr 2016 13:21 - 724 of 12628

Every country trades with every other country. That won't change, however there are added tariffs between the US and the EU. That is why there have been years of talks over a free trade agreement which doesn't exist yet. The same applies to all other countries outside the EU.

jimmy b - 14 Apr 2016 13:29 - 725 of 12628

If they want to punish us for leaving, i for one will not buy another German car (i love German cars) however over the last 10 years many other car companies have started to build to German standards ,they had to or they wouldn't sell cars .
There are plenty of other brands out there that now have Audi Mercedes BMW VW build quality ,it's not all about them ,we hold a good set of cards as well and they know it.

Haystack - 14 Apr 2016 13:39 - 726 of 12628

It is not punishing us. Tariffs are normal without a free trade agreement. The TTIP agreement that the EU has been negotiating with the US since 2013 is nearly in place. Outside the EU, we will be at a disadvantage in trade with the US compared with the EU.

grannyboy - 14 Apr 2016 13:41 - 727 of 12628

Yes I believe that the duty that the USA pay is 3%, and i'm assuming vice versa at this time.

But certain products like steel from China has an import tax of 220% into the US.

grannyboy - 14 Apr 2016 13:45 - 728 of 12628

If a trade agreement with the USA under the TTIP umbrella, then it'l open up big American Health corporation's to privatise the NHS..

Haystack - 14 Apr 2016 13:47 - 729 of 12628

The duty varies by product. The 3% figure is the overall average effect across all products.

Haystack - 14 Apr 2016 13:50 - 730 of 12628

The TTIP scare story about privatising the NHS is nonsense put about by left wing pressure groups.

jimmy b - 14 Apr 2016 13:51 - 731 of 12628

The NHS is almost finished anyway unless we stop mass immigration.

grannyboy - 14 Apr 2016 14:21 - 732 of 12628

"Outside the EU, we will be at a disadvantage in trade with the US compared
with the EU"

Why should we be, we can negotiate our own trade deals with
the US, they won't stop trading with us just like we won't
stop trading with them.....

VICTIM - 14 Apr 2016 14:59 - 733 of 12628

All these scare stories are for ordinary people who don't go into depth , they hear this and that and think stay as we are already in . The stayers know this but when people dissect it flaws abound , this where the out campaign must get through to them .

grannyboy - 14 Apr 2016 15:39 - 735 of 12628

Cartoons like that don't hold sway....The Europhiles
would like to portray the UK as cutting themselves off
from the world if they vote to leave.

Nothing could be further from the truth...
We want to trade with europe, but we don't want to be
ruled by europe...We like europe and its culture and architecture...
but not have to pay BILLIONS for the privilege of being a member..

But we also want to trade with the rest of the world, and to get
the best skilled workers, whereas now priority is given to workers of europe.

Fred1new - 14 Apr 2016 15:40 - 736 of 12628

We want. We want. We want!

grannyboy - 14 Apr 2016 15:44 - 737 of 12628

German Green MEP Rebecca Harms has called for an end to
referendums across the EU because... "Democracy threatens the EU"

So that's their aim eventually..

2517GEORGE - 14 Apr 2016 15:46 - 738 of 12628

That has always been their aim grannyboy, to remove the sovereignty of all member countries.
2517

grannyboy - 14 Apr 2016 15:55 - 739 of 12628

2517, Yes that's why we have to vote LEAVE, otherwise
we'll be drawn further down the road to total intergration
and lose our identity for ever...

VICTIM - 14 Apr 2016 15:56 - 740 of 12628

Is it their aim George or Germany's aim I wonder . How to conquer Europe without firing a shot maybe , and we are falling over our selves to make it happen .
