THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Fidel Castro, a thorn in the side of the US, dies at 90

He ruled Cuba intransigently and with an iron grip on the populace. Tons of things were just 'outright banned' to enable him to continue to keep easier control.

I remember the 'Bay of Pigs' and how World War 3 was prevented with some last minute ballsy brinkmanship from Kennedy. No thanks to Fidel Castro who was definitely an enemy of the USA and the Free World and it was he who let the Russians put their nuclear missiles on Cuba, some mere 80 miles from the Florida coastline.

I'm glad he's gone and that the life of Cubans can continue to improve.

eg. Wi-fi hotspots would have been unheard of under Fidel Castro - but there are now more than 40 on the streets of the capital, Havana. Residents gathered around them to read more about his death and contact friends and relatives. Very few people have internet access at home. With undoubtedly now, many, many more of them to come.

What Cuba was really like under Fidel Castro

Yes the west was right(???) in their condemnation of Fidel Castro, and the
followers of the liberal west also applauded the invasion of Iraq to remove
the leader of that country, then there was Afghanistan, then the west fell
out of love with Gadafi and went on to bomb Libya in the west's determination
to remove Gadafi, and left the country in such a mess its now used as a
gateway to europe by hordes of economic iliterate immigrants..

Wonder who the next downtrodden country to be bombed/invaded in the west's
ideologically liberal pandering to save the world, no matter the cost..

What a boring life you must lead Fred.

iturama - 27 Nov 2016 10:35 - 75129 of 81564

Waste of money for the donors but not for Stein. Nice earner. Who had heard of her before the election? Trump is right on that one. A scammer.

John Major has coined the term "the tyrany of the majority". Now I dont want to question the judgement of a man that considered getting his leg over an old trout like Edwina Currie was a good idea, but I thought the idea of politics was to gain a majority. Maybe he congratulated himself when he managed to pull off the biggest defeat in 150 years in the GE of 1997. Dork.

Fred1new - 27 Nov 2016 11:11 - 75130 of 81564

Dumbo.

I am surprised that you are awake again.

grannyboy - 27 Nov 2016 11:16 - 75131 of 81564

The ruling class don't DO democratic majority's if it goes against the
results THEY want, just like referendums in general...Thats why undemocratic
politicians don't like referendums full stop!!

Jimmy,

I doubt there would be much difference between you drunk or sober.

To me, you seem blind to most things.
