grannyboy , Owen Smith is in danger of losing his safe Labour seat at the next general election which ever way he votes.

Wales like the north of England have had enough of the clowns running the Labour Party and are deserting them in droves.

IMO Labour will abstain on the Article 50 vote with just a few of their loonies voting against.

Maybe 50 Labour voting against. The rest voting for. Corbyn has agreed to 3 days debate. The real problem is the Lord's. There are no set timetables for amendments.

That would be the only way. The use of the Parliament Act requires a wait of a year. That would put A50 back to 2018.

Being thick here but was't there a thought that if the Lords didn't vote it through , they would be seen as going against the will of the people and there could be moves to remove the House of Lords . Sure I heard one Lord actually say this on c4 on the night .

That would require 2/3 majority in Commons. Very unlikely. The use of the Parliament Act to force it through would also take a year.

If the Lords voted it down then a General Election would be called, and
once the Tory's won a large majority, with the help of UKIP winning between
around 70-100 seats from Labour, the Lords would then be subject to a
serious re-organisation..IF NOT SHUT DOWN,,,,LOL!

Corbyn has announced today that he wants a three line whip on voting for A50. Expect some resignations from his front bench after vote.

She is MP for the most marginal Constituency. Hampstead and Kilburn had a majority of 44 when it was held by Glenda Jackson. She is worried about losing her seat because her seat was a strong remain one. She cannot afford to vote for A50 with Corbyn. She won't be the last to go.
