THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

ITS VERY SAD FOR THE UK TO BE SO DEVIDED BY MPS OF ALL PARTIES WHO ARE NOT HONEST
ALL PARTIES

Excellent comparison of each party's Election Manifestos:

Manuel,

The reason for posting "balanced" because many who view the programs think the media was anti-Corbyn and moderates, without examining the contents of their remarks.

As a counter to those thinking that Corbyn had too much exposure.

May's nodding responses seemed almost neuropathic. (?)

I.E opinion based on previous stances or leanings.

EXEC . THAT IS THE BEST POST AND CONFIRMED OUR VOTES FOR MAY

cynic - 08 Jun 2017 11:15 - 77485 of 81564

i know that the air time given to each is very tightly controlled and monitored

that was not the point i was making at all and as you know full well
my issue remains that BBC is or at least was held up as being the paragon of balanced reporting
this is now more than sullied

Laurenrose - 08 Jun 2017 11:21 - 77486 of 81564

all posters must know by now voting labour we would have freds all over holding out white flags ,

cynic - 08 Jun 2017 11:27 - 77487 of 81564

for the first time in about 50 years i popped into ladbrokes to see the election odds, but they are clearly not allowed on polling day
however, i was appalled at the absolute stink of foul air in there ........ it was worse than a rugby changing room in my long past playing days

iturama - 08 Jun 2017 11:33 - 77488 of 81564

I was a little surprised to see Theresa May's full home address in Sonning on the ballot sheet, while "Lord Buckethead" lived 'somewhere in Bromley' or such like. The ballot sheet resembled a toilet role given the amount of air heads that couldn't resist running against a sitting PM.

cynic - 08 Jun 2017 11:36 - 77489 of 81564

you're my near neighbour though a different constituency
at least 3 of our candidates had beaconsfield addresses, including the incumbent ...... at least that's fairly local, unlike some who live several hundred miles from their constituencies

Here's a good web site for punters to go mad and place a straight Election bet:

https://www.betfair.com/exchange/plus/politics/market/1.131081434

For instance, if you are absolutely certain, that Theresa May will still be the Prime Minister after the General Election, then a £1,000 bet on here will get you a profit of £150 to £160 (x 0.95) - as I type.

As I type, there is currently enough liquidity to place such a bet but I guess it won't necessarily last for ever.

Laurenrose - 08 Jun 2017 11:39 - 77491 of 81564

cynic , Ladbrokes this no racist post . if you go in to Ladbrokes in my town centre after 11am you would not get in full of migrants . they do not course any trouble but some do pong a little

cynic - 08 Jun 2017 11:42 - 77492 of 81564

i think there were just a few diehards in there, but as i said, it reeked

EL - shows how little i understand about betting shops and odds .... couldn't make much sense of that betfair site

If you think UKIP will get at least one MP elected, you can currently get around 6 (or 7) to 1 at:

Care to bet UKIP will get at least one MP (or won't)?

Time to spent £100 to educate yourself then. Eh, Cynic?

'Beginners Luck' could well kick in.

I agree with Fred about the BBC or at least on TV as I don't listen to the radio. I always find them pretty balanced.

Anyone see Sturgeon the other night on Ask The Leader ? She got a right going over off a Scottish audience about calling for another referendum and her handling of things north of the border.

grannyboy - 08 Jun 2017 12:40 - 77498 of 81564

And what some socialist scum forget when they complain about who owns
the newspapers and the owners political views expressed in their outlook,
is the public have a choice whether to buy that publication or not...

Where as the public are forced to pay a licence fee and do not have a choice,
so the state subsidised bbc should not be run for the liberal lefties, by liberal
lefties...

ExecLine - 08 Jun 2017 13:47 - 77499 of 81564

Just like the Nazis burning Jewish books and literature in WWII, a number of Labour supporters are buying up shed loads of The Sun, The Mail and The Express and 'skipping', 'binning' or even burning them.

Q. Why?
A. These papers are so 'anti-Corbyn' today, so they think, that by doing this it will help keep potential Labour voters on side or at least not send them off to vote Tory.

cynic - 08 Jun 2017 14:13 - 77500 of 81564

the newsagents will be very happy indeed :-)
