THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

The crooks come in all colours Stan, the labour party excel at troughing, look at the Kinnock tribe, gorging themselves at the public purse.

And people like you keep voting for them! Any bells ringing Stan?

FAKE NEWS

CNN reporters resign over retracted Russia story as Trump goads network

Three journalists have resigned from US media network CNN after the organisation retracted a news story related to potential links between Donald Trump's campaign team and Russia.

The story was taken off the broadcaster's website on Friday after an internal investigation from the news agency, while it also issued an apology to the Trump aide in question, Anthony Scaramucci.

It claimed that Scaramucci met with the head of a Russian investment fund in the weeks leading up to Trump's inauguration as US President.

CNN said in a statement that the article did not meet the network's editorial standards.

"In the aftermath of the retraction of a story published on CNN.com, CNN has accepted the resignations of the employees involved in the story's publication."

Journalist Thomas Frank, who was the author of the story in question, was joined by investigative reporters Eric Lictblau and Lex Harris in handing in their resignations.

Trump has had a fiery relationship with the news outlet, repeatedly citing it as an example of the 'fake news' that has targeted him throughout his campaign and presidency. He taunted CNN in a series of tweets on Tuesday.

"Wow, CNN had to retract big story on 'Russia,' with 3 employees forced to resign. What about all the other phony stories they do? FAKE NEWS!," Trump tweeted.

He later added: "Fake News CNN is looking at big management changes now that they got caught falsely pushing their phony Russian stories. Ratings way down!"

Fred1new - 28 Jun 2017 08:50 - 78185 of 81564

Max,

Consider when you go out for a meal and have a bottle of plonk with it and then pay the bill that some have to live for a week on what you pay.

There is a necessity for differential "wages", but it is the levels of differentials which is the problem.

At the moment, society is beginning to revert to the standards of thiefdoms or chiefdoms based on handed down "stolen" advantages.

Fred1new - 28 Jun 2017 08:51 - 78186 of 81564

Of course, many of those who benefit the most will defend those practices the most strongly.

2517GEORGE - 28 Jun 2017 09:10 - 78191 of 81564

The misguided Labour voters/supporters believing in Corbyn's promised land need only look to America to see how Trump's promises are panning out

Stan - 28 Jun 2017 09:16 - 78192 of 81564

So that's at least £1 billion to prop up an incompetent prime minister, and an 8% pay rise for the most privileged family in the world.

Meanwhile you've got people burning to death in buildings on the back of saving a few grand, and public services cut to the bare bone in the name of austerity.

This government seriously needs to recalibrate its priorities, because this is nothing short of a national scandal.

Or better still kick them out!

Fred

Consider when you fill up your vehicle with fuel and then pay the bill that some have to live for a week on what you pay.

2517GEORGE - 28 Jun 2017 09:44 - 78197 of 81564

Nick Ross (ex crimewatch) approached the current mayor of London (Labour) in 2008/9 to get a sprinkler system installed in Grenfell and other tower blocks---he was told NO not cost effective---------what price 79+ lives, obviously too high for caring Labour.

Dil - 28 Jun 2017 09:47 - 78200 of 81564

If Labour were as good as you seem to think Stan then everyone would be moving to Wales except our education results are worse than England and our NHS no better than England both fully under the control of Welsh Labour (who continually try to distance themselves from Corbyn and his loony chums).

At least you could come and watch a proper team :-)
