How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Fundamentalist - 12 Mar 2006 16:23 - 9362 of 10502

1-0 Henry :-)

bakko - 12 Mar 2006 16:23 - 9363 of 10502

I'll swap your trade for mine anytime.

Got caught out in the end. Had plenty of opportunities to get out but didn't.

Henry has just put the Ars 1-0

WOODIE - 12 Mar 2006 16:24 - 9364 of 10502

cant belive some people put order in for sa at 1.01 could not lose match bet was matched!

compoundup - 12 Mar 2006 16:25 - 9365 of 10502

Wasn't online but saw a fair bit of the match. Have never seen anything like it. I wonder if anyone was daft enough to back SA at the start of their innings and what odds they could have been offered?

Fundamentalist - 12 Mar 2006 16:29 - 9366 of 10502

Edward

150 was matched on the saffers.

bakko - 12 Mar 2006 16:34 - 9367 of 10502

I would assume that a fair amount of the 150 matched would have been layers.

A very painful lay off for those concerned.

compoundup - 12 Mar 2006 16:38 - 9368 of 10502

Shame that was the last in the series - still, not long to wait for ODI's in India.

Fundamentalist - 12 Mar 2006 16:39 - 9369 of 10502

Not long to wait but more anti social hours :-(

Fundamentalist - 12 Mar 2006 16:41 - 9370 of 10502

oh sh*t - looks like Toure has picked up a nasty injury

Fundamentalist - 12 Mar 2006 17:28 - 9371 of 10502

how many chances do arsenal need to make this game safe - get a horrible feeling we might regret keep missing them

Fundamentalist - 12 Mar 2006 17:35 - 9372 of 10502

FFS

get flagged offside when not, then Fabregas gets bundled over

Fundamentalist - 12 Mar 2006 17:43 - 9373 of 10502

Get in you beauty - great ball Gerrard :-)

Fundamentalist - 12 Mar 2006 17:50 - 9374 of 10502

Fundamentalist - 13 Mar 2006 16:29 - 9375 of 10502

Having probs with betfair (not Betangel) and also the forum today - doesnt bode well ahead of Cheltenham for the next 4 days

Scripophilist - 13 Mar 2006 18:05 - 9376 of 10502

We have had lots of people emailing us saying they have had problems.

Fundamentalist - 13 Mar 2006 18:19 - 9377 of 10502

Not likely to cause me huge probs as im planning on doing more punting than trading at cheltenham though for those who are trading, keep an eye on how the site is performing, personally would be surprised if it doesnt go down at some stage before friday

Scripophilist - 14 Mar 2006 08:53 - 9378 of 10502

All, how is Betfair performing this morning for you?

We are fine over here and at several other locations but I was interested to see if problems are still persisting out there.

Fundamentalist - 14 Mar 2006 09:33 - 9379 of 10502

Scrip

just trying to look through the cheltenham cards and have a read of the forum. Very slow for pages to load. this is on betfair not betangel. in addition the forum is really struggling, only loading approx 1 page in 3 which is never a good sign (invariably the forum falls over before the site does)

a few people onm the forum also reporting poor performance/slowness

Dil - 14 Mar 2006 09:51 - 9380 of 10502

Seems ok here but I have had problems with it freezing on me over the last week or so.
