World cup 2010, What chances for the Home sides and Ireland !. (2010)

required field - 12 Oct 2008 18:43

Thought I'd start a football blog, we might keep this going until 2010.....England doing well....did not see the match or even the goals....I'd like Michael owen back in the squad though....and I think Peter Crouch would make a very good substitute...remember against Argentina in Geneva a few years ago....with Michael Owen and some very good movements on and off the ball...they caused havoc.....did see Scotland's missed chance....that could be very costly losing those 2 points !.

Clubman3509 - 23 Jun 2010 17:33 - 961 of 1154

Why is jockland not in the world cup

Treblewide - 23 Jun 2010 17:42 - 962 of 1154

cc nothing to do with me being scottish......i am a neutral so i can actually be balanced...if you think you will beat germany and the argies good on you...lets wait and see.....from early on looked like a brazil argentina final...dont see anything today to change that

clubman we are not there as we are not good enough

Chris Carson - 23 Jun 2010 17:56 - 963 of 1154

Treb, I live in Aberdeen. If you as a Scotsman are not hoping England get knocked out by ANYONE, then you are in a majority of ONE! If the English up there game they can beat Germany no bother. Argentina on form todate I agree are favourites.

Treblewide - 23 Jun 2010 18:09 - 964 of 1154

cc i must admit i dont want them to win it but it does not mean i am blinkered not so much the team it is the media/commentary....that irish/scouse idiot today was driving me mental

Treblewide - 23 Jun 2010 18:14 - 965 of 1154

cc....just hope win or loose the germany game both sets of fans behave...glad to see no trouble so far.

required field - 24 Jun 2010 12:11 - 966 of 1154

I think that our form is coming back....bit by bit....the England lads missed a lot of chances...the Germans are going to be tough....but I think we can win, this is not a great german team by any means....and we will need to score several times no doubt....forget about the latter stages at the moment and let's take this : one game at a time.....the south americans are doing well and we might see Uruguay in the semis unless....the USA....I think they will beat Ghana.
The african nations have done pretty much nothing except the flurry against France to no avail.....they have too many participants....and just don't perform....unless Ghana pull off a surprise : their quota must be reduced !.....
The South Americans are pretty impressive so far....not one defeat and will be pressing for an extra spot in future world cups.....

HARRYCAT - 24 Jun 2010 12:55 - 967 of 1154

My Messi bet for the Golden Boot isn't looking too clever atm. Hope you are right about the S. Americans, rf!

required field - 24 Jun 2010 14:12 - 968 of 1154

I hope not.....we might bump into the Argies if we get past Germany...and that's a big "if" at the moment....each round will be incredibly difficult, but I see England's momentum building with improved performances.....the last was much better and perhaps the next will be better still !.

skinny - 24 Jun 2010 14:21 - 969 of 1154

This is what we want on Sunday - Awesome England thrash Germany :-)

Dil - 24 Jun 2010 19:30 - 970 of 1154

They struggled to beat Wales at home in the qualifiers ... that shows how good the Germans really are.

required field - 24 Jun 2010 22:39 - 971 of 1154

I reckon England will need to score 3 times, because you can be certain that they will get at least one....

Dil - 24 Jun 2010 23:06 - 972 of 1154

Dream on .... Germans won't score , one will do but that might prove hard.

required field - 25 Jun 2010 08:42 - 973 of 1154

Hey !, I would think that we might go one up, and unless we get a second or even a third : they draw level right at the end....that sort of game....if we get one goal : we have to get a second...it's a must !.

Dil - 25 Jun 2010 11:11 - 974 of 1154

Trust me , they won't score.

Clubman3509 - 25 Jun 2010 13:54 - 975 of 1154

England 2 Germany 1

HARRYCAT - 25 Jun 2010 14:15 - 976 of 1154

Both 13/8 on Sportingbet. Draw 21/10.

required field - 25 Jun 2010 14:50 - 977 of 1154

I'm convinced we can win this one......but boy ! do we have to go for it and keep that defense tight.

required field - 25 Jun 2010 17:23 - 978 of 1154

Disappointing game : Brazil-Portugal....0-0......The Dutch will push the Brazilians hard in the quarters if they both go that far of course,...they should do......feel a bit sorry for Ivory Coast....a good side....just very unlucky to be in that group.....no France, no Italy......heck of a lot of surprises this year, more than usual....Portugal will be difficult to knock out by the look of it.....

goldfinger - 27 Jun 2010 00:13 - 979 of 1154

Ohh never mind refs etc, etc, lets get stuck in and prove ourselves as the best around.

My mind tomorrow is on winning only.

No silly historical crap not that we arent anyway better than Fritz....... we are.

What we need is that spirit that John Terry portrayed in the last game when diving full length on the floor at about 18inch up from the ground and going for a header after putting in a fantastic block.

My god that should be what an England player should be looking to do if they want to win the Fritz and the games after.

We are going to win.

Forget peanaltys and extra time just have a belief.

Come on lads follow me in............ CHARGE.

tabasco - 27 Jun 2010 08:53 - 980 of 1154

Fully agree NuggetI have forgiven Terry after that last heroic performance.

We are just starting to prepare for the daymight even fit in most of the F1...

I would like to see this team starting:-

Goalkeeper: David James

Defenders: Glen JohnsonJohn Terry Jamie Carragher / Michael Dawson? Ashley Cole

Midfielders: James Milner, Frank Lampard, Gareth Barry, Steven Gerrard,

Striker: Jermain DefoeWayne Rooney

I would play Jamie Carragher on experience and with the choices available

Result 2-1 Englandand let us prey Rooney is 100% fitcan we have all the British behind us today
Have a great day and celebrations to you all!!.GO ON MY SON!!!!
