Dear All,

I am organising this years MoneyAM Golf Day which is in aid of the Macmillan Cancer Fund. It will be a great day out and all for a worthy cause.

Macmillan dedicates itself to giving every person in the land equal and ready access to the best information, treatment and care for cancer.

As this years event is a charity event, the total cost of the whole day will be 85 (around 20 - 25 will be donated from every entry to the Macmillan Cancer Fund). This will include all golfing activities on the day, bacon rolls on arrival, lunch, an evening dinner, and prize giving ceremony.

The winners of this years event (the afternoon's Texas Scramble) will get 1 years free subscription to MoneyAM Level 2, and the prestigious MoneyAM Annual Golf Challenge Cup which the team will share.

Second and Third place teams will each receive medals, plus 6 months worth of MoneyAM Level 2

MoneyAM will also get prizes for 1, 2, 3, nearest the pin and longest drive in the morning Stableford competition. I will present a Wooden Spoon on the day, so you should all be wary of that!

Itinerary for the Day

8.30 am onwards: Arrival at VGC Meet and greet bacon rolls on arrival

9.30 am onwards: 11 hole Stableford Tee off in groups of 3/4 from 8.30AM although I expect a number will arrive after 9.30am, either pre arranged or allocated on the day

From 12.30: Light rolling Lunch after completion of morning Stableford. Menu - Cold Meat Buffet with New Potatoes and Salad.

1.30 pm: 18 Hole Texas Scramble Pre-arranged teams of 4, each player must hit at least 3 drives and handicap is 1/8th of combined total. Individual entries will be teamed up by organiser in advance

What is Texas Scramble? This is a game of 3 or 4 player teams. All players in a team tee off then the team chooses their best drive and all 3 or 4 will play their second shot from that spot. This continues until the hole is completed, including putting out. There are many variations of handicapping and play, so I have chosen a percentage of combined HCP, with each team member taking 3 compulsory drives.

7.00 pm Evening Meal and Prize Giving:

Starter: Homemade Soup

Main: Chicken Breast with Gruyere cheese wrapped in Bacon

Dessert: Fruit crumble served with Custard

As with previous years, I will need to collect the cash of all participants up front, and I think we will follow the method we have done before:

Cheques payable to: R W L Colby
And please send your cheques (with a note giving your MoneyAM username) to the following address: Ian Taylor MoneyAM Ltd Thames House 18 Park Street London SE1 9ER

Ian will then forward them on to me.

The nearest train station is St Albans City which is about 1km north, and there is a very good 3 star Quality Inn 300 yards away on London Road for around 75 per night.

This years event which will be the best ever. I hope to see familiar and new faces alike in what could prove to be the biggest Golf day we have had so far. Although I am sure competition will be fierce, this is also designed to be an enjoyable day for all.

If you are interested in coming along (and all are welcome), please can you indicate so on this thread, and we can then start collating numbers and collecting the cash.

I look forward to seeing you all there,

SOS
Should that read Kama Sutra - and I'm not having any of that kinky stuff in my team.

But I am sure I'd be more than happy to be in DCB's team - but we can sort all that out nearer the date - it'll depend on whether I will have my warders with me.

Bullshare - 06 Feb 2007 14:23 - 84 of 207

Whoops big spello!

chocolat - 06 Feb 2007 14:24 - 85 of 207

Bullshare - 06 Feb 2007 14:25 - 86 of 207

Choccie; Who rattled your cage:-)

chocolat - 06 Feb 2007 14:27 - 87 of 207

Was just finishing a banana :P

Bullshare - 06 Feb 2007 14:29 - 88 of 207

I don't think we need the detail:-)

mg - 06 Feb 2007 14:31 - 89 of 207

Bacon and banana - the Cheshire set certainly know how to live it up.

Bullshare - 06 Feb 2007 14:33 - 90 of 207

MG: Footballers wives territory, WAGS :-)

chocolat - 06 Feb 2007 14:48 - 91 of 207

So which poor sod will have me on the team? ;)

Bullshare - 06 Feb 2007 15:08 - 92 of 207

You're in Martini's buggy!

MightyMicro - 06 Feb 2007 15:42 - 93 of 207

Choccy: Just make sure the old chap doesn't get lost again.

Bobcolby - 06 Feb 2007 16:21 - 94 of 207

Eventually each team will be christened and a captain chosen.

For example, MGs team could be called "The Wa**kers" and he would be the numero uno in that team.

In the same vein, Bullie could captain "The Bullshitters", Martini "The Sots" etc. I am sure you get the gist.

Any suggestions for team names??

Dead Cat Bounce - 06 Feb 2007 16:40 - 95 of 207

Bob - I hope your golf is better than your spelling. Only one "a" or "n" in "wa*kers".

Mike - many thanks for the kind invitation to join one of your teams. With me in it, the name should be "The Zimmerfarmers". Please let me know when and to whom I should pay the day's fee.

Very much looking forward to seeing you all on the day, provided that the local outbreak of H5N1 doesn't kill us all here in Suffolk.

regards

dcb

chocolat - 06 Feb 2007 17:01 - 96 of 207

There's no room on Mikie's farm, dcb ;)

Gonna get my own hottie tottie team together then :P

mg - 06 Feb 2007 17:09 - 97 of 207

Choccie - will that be the Cheshire Cats then?

DCB - his spelling is better than his golf.

Bobcolby - 06 Feb 2007 17:11 - 98 of 207

dcb

Your right my spelling is really bad, walkers has only 1 l in it.

The cheque should be sent via Moneyam, instructions at top of thread. Send the cheque as soon as you like, any interest will go to Macmillan charity not me or Moneyam.

See you at Verulam

Bobcolby - 06 Feb 2007 17:19 - 99 of 207

Choc "Hot Tottie" it is then. Very welcome.

mg how about "Muggers"

Bullshare - 06 Feb 2007 18:20 - 100 of 207

I thought MG's would be the "Flatulent Fairies" or 'Winson Green jail breakers' :-0)
