Referendum : to be in Europe or not to be ?, that is the question ! (REF)

required field - 03 Feb 2016 10:00

Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

jimmy b - 29 Apr 2016 12:04 - 1401 of 12628

Fred you know nothing about international road transport so shut up .

cynic - 29 Apr 2016 12:07 - 1402 of 12628

there's an awful lot of intermodal stuff too (containers) which gets moved across the channel on ships ..... so how does fred reckon that would be treated?

jimmy b - 29 Apr 2016 12:10 - 1403 of 12628

cynic ,i only know about road transport ,it was my business for years and i can't have Fred talking nonsense about charges etc .

VICTIM - 29 Apr 2016 12:16 - 1404 of 12628

jimmy you can do this you will love this piece in the Telegraph a Michael Petley founder of the city investment managers ECU group . The EU merry go round is broken time to get out .

cynic - 29 Apr 2016 12:16 - 1405 of 12628

i confess i skip straight past at least 95% of his stuff

Fred1new - 29 Apr 2016 12:34 - 1406 of 12628

I am told one of the first signs of senility is repeating oneself.

2517GEORGE - 29 Apr 2016 12:46 - 1407 of 12628

Fred------------45% of (what figure) UK exports to the EU, less than 10% of (what figure) exports from EU to UK.

Stan - 29 Apr 2016 13:23 - 1408 of 12628

I want a vote to get rid of you 'Winging" outers.

2517GEORGE - 29 Apr 2016 13:25 - 1409 of 12628

In that case Stan we will treat you as per the EU--------- 27 against 1 for---sorry you can't have a vote.

cynic - 29 Apr 2016 13:33 - 1410 of 12628

as this is primarily a shares board .......
what sectors will benefit most if the vote is to stay in, which it (almost) certainly will be?

Fred1new - 29 Apr 2016 13:38 - 1411 of 12628

Dumbo,

P 1401

Are you an international lorry driver?

jimmy b - 29 Apr 2016 13:55 - 1412 of 12628

No Fred i owned a transport company and yes i have driven , but up until mid 2000's i knew every rule and regulation so no point you spouting off about tunnel costs road charges etc .

cynic - 29 Apr 2016 14:00 - 1413 of 12628

really tough biz that jimmy, especially in uk
main probs as i see it are the heavy cost of diesel and the expense of getting across the channel
domestically, the place is over-run with diddy companies cutting the legs off rates

jimmy b - 29 Apr 2016 14:25 - 1414 of 12628

I sold up after many years and yes it was always tough and not a level playing field with road tax and derv so cheap abroad ,plus road tolls which the Europeans didn't have to pay when they used our roads .However we had 1200 litre fuel tanks and mainly filled up in Luxembourg .I did ok in the end.

Stan - 29 Apr 2016 14:30 - 1415 of 12628

Well there's a surprise JB used to be a lorry driver.. who would have thought that listening to him "rant off" on a daily basis.

cynic - 29 Apr 2016 14:46 - 1416 of 12628

and eddie stobart?
anything derogatory to say about him stan?

Stan - 29 Apr 2016 15:00 - 1417 of 12628

Stobart? and what's he got to do with anything on here?

cynic - 29 Apr 2016 15:01 - 1418 of 12628

lorry driver you muppet!

Stan - 29 Apr 2016 15:02 - 1419 of 12628
