The "Con"servative Party, What are they good for? (this was the Thread Title but looks like it was to long to print up).
Well they primarily exist to support the extremes of big business and Off-Shore Tax Dodgers, using various methods to get elected, for example Divide and Conquer and playing to the less intelligent of the population through the Gutter Press etc.
Here's the latest wind-up rant from their leader Cameron.

So a rant is anyone who disagrees with you - OK.
Not wanting to come over as an arch tory, because I'm not, but is it really fair that those of us who work and pay tax should finance perfectly able bodied people to do nothing?
If you have responsibilites you should accept them and deal with them, simple as that.

Nothing to do with agreeing or not, a rant is a rant, also if you ask a question do have the patience to wait for a reply instead of answering it yourself.
"Not wanting to come over as an arch tory, because I'm not, but is it really fair that those of us who work and pay tax should finance perfectly able bodied people to do nothing?"
No of course not and no won is saying that. Suggest you read it again.
"If you have responsibilities you should accept them and deal with them, simple as that."
Again not a case of "responsibilities" or not, more a case of helping people deal with mental illnesses in most of those cases/figures listed.

Stan, in your usual pompous manner, you have already dictated the direction in which you wish any debate to proceed; I refer to the 'con' in your opening statement. Your mind is already cast in stone and any discussion futile. For what it's worth (probably not very much) I find it hard to believe anyone in their right mind would trust the Labour party in any form of government. But, deep seated prejudices dictate voting patterns on the whole rather than any rational thought process; and of course which party individuals believe will give them the most for nothing.

Harry,
In general, I think there are a small number of real scroungers.
Also, there are a number of able bodied individuals, who are probably better paid to be unemployed due to their inherent characteristics.
I think if there is genuine abuse, fraud, or false claims, then the culprits should be brought to book. You can stop the payments and in certain cases fine those with assets.
But punishment by imprisonment etc. would cost the state and probably be less than useful.
Although, I don't think that a just a slap on the wrists and repayment of false claims is sufficient in some cases.
However, I think the tory leadership shows questionable morality, when you consider, that Cameron and Osborne made, in the opinion of many, "false" expense claims, repaid them, and then were elected by the tories party to be their leaders, with possibility of being Prime minister and chancellor.
This points to the public at large, that tory governing morality is, "what you can get away with", and they are influenced by this philosophy, which they then use it to justify their own criminal actions.
Corrupt leadership, leads to corruption of society and the state.
=========
In addition, more than balancing the "social security" fraudsters, are the various forms of "tax dodgers and continuing "expense" claimants such as (MPs, etc.,) who cheat the overall general public.
----------------
I would like to see the latter group chased more successfully and prosecuted etc..
--------------------------------------------------------------------
However, while considering the cost to the public of the above, those who are shrieking at the moment about EU rules, regulations and payments, could considered the effect on their private purses by the devaluation of the pound sterling against the euro since July of last year. They may reconsider the stewardship of the British economy and reconsider the PR of the two spivs Dave and Georgie boy.

Stan - How can a statement of fact be a rant? Labour not to put to fine a point on it 'Cocked Up', (Again). As you well know history has a habit of repeating itself, eventually the Conservative Party will sort out the economy. Then once again will become complacent lose the confidence of the electorate and lose a General Election to Labour. And so it goes, on and on. I personally have no confidence in any politician, or for that matter any particular party, sad I know. :O)

I see Aids, the leading light of intelligentsia has written,
Read to-day Clegg and Cameron split again,
Cameron protecting his private privileges and chiefdom while Clegg is looking for votes.
Interesting how many peerages he has given the nation over the last 12mths.
Were they gifted for services render?
Is Cameron still believing in his Andy and Murdock.

Stan - I sense a deep seated anger, are you sleeping OK? How's your bowels?
CC - absolutely correct, Labour are not to be trusted in any way. As has been well documented they spent far more than their income, an obvious recipe for disaster, and encouraged a benefits society. Give someone money to do nothing and they will most likely do nothing.
Fred - can't read your posts mate, they're unintelligible.

H6,
Thank you for your well argued response. If you have trouble understanding my postings and those of others, you can get a second hand dictionary quite cheaply. It may help you a little.
But, I can see you have the necessary acumen to be fodder for the tory old boy and blue rinse brigade.
Mind Cameron is showing his true colours and Libyan leadership from behind.
I am told that the grandees are trying to get rid of him.
(Knifed in the back ar such an early age. What a shame!)
I am interested to see the next bye election results.
Can you measure the demise of the Liberal party and the coalition in days or weeks.
Mind a bit of bashing of the of the socially incompetent will divert attention from the underlying economy should bolster C and Dave positions.
What a leadership, but right for its motley crew.

There is a new virus about and it is catching fast. You start with a urge, then it takes over. If caught early the symptoms can be stopped in their tracks. God help you if you do not seek treatment. It becomes untreatable. You go round the twist just thinking about the conservatives 24/7. Please visit the doctor if any of the above signs appear.

Dreams,
I don't have tory nightmares and sleep well.
But, I do have a sense of amusement, which is often provoked by the contortions of this present coalition government under the auspices of Cameron, Clegg, Osborne, Aschroft and Murdock.
Perhaps, you need a sedative
