SUPERCHARGED RHETORIC ? (CPX)

Confidant - 06 Nov 2006 11:10

Small Aussie company into supercapacitors

Issued statement on 23/10 bemused at share price fall

Stock has since droopped another 15%

Basically I'm guessing institutional seller that got in on ipo needs out no buyers ----- free money for the patient --- 3-6 months if you belive the management that is

As for the business I have no idea :-)

Confidant - 07 Nov 2006 15:13 - 2 of 215

Seems like a buyer out there just how much has the seller got left

Reading around on the business and comapny fairly cutting edge . Nice award in Feb http://www.electronicstalk.com/news/caw/caw100.html

As said previously if reading between the lines -- not very difficult these guys are Australian -- of 23/10 statement, a deal in Europe on a decent scale is on the cards soon. Before 2007 for a deal and that will be ahead of schedule. c 25% mkt cap is cash so no worries there

Just waiting for the deal

Confidant - 07 Nov 2006 16:16 - 3 of 215

5% traded --- would like to say it was me :-0 -- but seller could be cleared !! ^^

HARRYCAT - 07 Nov 2006 16:35 - 4 of 215

A pretty scary chart so far! The floatation valuation was optimistic???
There has been a bit of a bounce & am going to watch this to see where it settles.
This looks like a hugely competetive market & I have tried looking for how CPX share out the profits with Polar Twin. Presumably this is on a royalties or licence basis.
The big problem they have is that they are relying on independent distributors in each country to fit or sell their super-capacitors, which means they don't have control over their sales. Maybe a better european set-up on the cards, but a bit of a risk at the moment, imo.

Confidant - 17 Nov 2006 15:01 - 5 of 215

Harrycat --- the more scary the better -- it means panic. Sure difficult to gauge final market size but look at the comment at the AGM . Share has bounced c20% from panic selling levles but only now at level where comapny issued statemnt to say it did not understand why the shares had fallen so far

A few more of the early takers seem to have baled but unless the mangement are telling porkies (they are Australians so tend to be a bit over-excitable) they seem to be well ahead of IPO expectations --- 90p to target without any contract news IMHO

Confidant - 16 Jan 2007 13:02 - 6 of 215

Director buying more although small amount and he holds a fair bit already. Still supporting sign.

Stock still at level when company issued statement that it did not understand why the share price had fallen so far

What am I missing --- to 1 ?

Pond Life - 19 Jan 2007 10:34 - 7 of 215

I've joined in today with a few. Chart looks better, recent action bodes well. Hoping for good news on the Nokia front.

Confidant - 19 Jan 2007 11:44 - 8 of 215

I don't feel so lonely now pond life

I don't have much visibility on this one, as with most of my stocks and tend to go with the rhetoric --- not always the best way I have to admit

But I think the co are close to close period --- interesting sentence - hence the buying by director looks opportunistic. they have been promising a deal and it has been a long time coming so I hope your right

Pond Life - 19 Jan 2007 12:46 - 9 of 215

Happy to keep you company. I am currently diversifying out of resource stocks - they've had a bad tumble recently and I've given back a lot of my profits. Would you like to add a chart to the header?

Confidant - 19 Jan 2007 16:07 - 10 of 215

how do i do that

Pond Life - 19 Jan 2007 16:54 - 11 of 215

Use the board's charts function to get the chart you want. Suggest that you go for a one year standard chart, tick in the 50 and 200 day EMA, and MACD and RSI boxes. Then click on the bit that says 'paste chart to thread'. This will come up with a line of code that you need to cut and paste into the header.
If you have a problem, let me know and I can start a new thread if you wish.

Confidant - 26 Jan 2007 15:17 - 12 of 215

Smiling :-) but no idea why. Anyone?

Pond Life - 26 Jan 2007 17:12 - 13 of 215

I read elsewhere that the shares are being talked up to around 2 on the basis of a single deal with a mobile phone maker. Its just talk from what I can gather and I don't attach any real lasting importance to it, but if it does move the shares a bit then I'm not complaining. For any real movement we are still waiting for Nokia to sign a deal.

Pond Life - 26 Jan 2007 17:13 - 14 of 215

By the way, like the chart!

Confidant - 29 Jan 2007 13:06 - 15 of 215

thx --- toook a couple of attempts

Happy to wait for the numbers and be patient on this one just hope the management are not the over excitable type -- leading us up the garden path

Nice update from CPX this morning - appears to have taken their stockbroker by surprise.

CAP-XX Limited
21 March 2007

CAP-XX Limited
Manufacturing partner and licensing agreements

CAP-XX, is pleased to announce that it is well advanced in partnering and
licensing negotiations with major international components manufacturers
regarding the scale-up of production to meet anticipated demand for its
supercapacitors from leading mobile phone handset makers.
Anthony Kongats, CEO of CAP-XX, commented:
'We have made good progress in advancing our relationships with mobile phone
handset manufacturers since we joined AIM, almost a year ago. Whilst we have
raised production to meet the demands of our existing customers, the level of
indicative schedules we are seeing will require a step change in manufacturing
volumes. The potential manufacturing and licensing partners with whom we are in
discussions have an established track record of meeting the demands of the
mobile handset makers.'

from Collins Stewart today .... they are brokers to CPX .... the second paragraph is the most interesting as some of what has been announced today was new news to Collins Stewart themselves ..........

"This morning CAP-XX has announced that it is well advanced in partnering and licensing negotiations with major international components manufacturers regarding the scale-up of production.

Critical Development for the Company
While many mobile device companies have recognised the excellence of the CAP-XX
supercapacitor, before it can be incorporated in a commercial product large scale manufacturing would need to be established and essentially CAP-XX today are announcing this has virtually been achieved. The potential adoption of a licensee is exciting and had not been anticipated by us. It would be entirely incremental to the story, both from a forecasts and valuation perspective, potentially bringing upfront payments and royalties.

Remaining Positive on CAP-XX
We rate the shares a buy: We believe the CAP-XX supercapacitor has considerable
commercial application, particularly in mobile devices such as mobile phones, PDAs and laptops. As far as we can see all the requisite technical, manufacturing and commercial elements are now in place to meet this demand.

The shares are currently trading at 90p giving a market capitalisation of 44m. In the year to June 2008, given adoption by a mobile phone manufacturer and the ensuing volume ramp-up, we expect the company to have sales of A$46m and EPS of 9p, equivalent to 11x earnings."

Confidant - 21 Mar 2007 11:29 - 18 of 215

A comment ahead of next weeks reults has sent the share up 2p

While comment is encouraging I think it could have been sent out to prevent disappointment that no contract with mobile co has been signed yet, so results will be fairly meaningless

Obviously the statement points to advanced discussions with component makers. This does suggest they see a mobile deal as pretty much tied up

My guess then is we might have to wait a few weeks after results for the contract to finally come into being. Then we may see some action

Confidant - 27 Mar 2007 09:56 - 19 of 215

Results had no big contract but some clarity -- speaking to 3 of large 5 mobile players.

If it delivers a big mobile contract this stock is cheap and will shoot upwards, if not it is expensive. Upside/downside risk is certainly better than 3:1 so lets hope its worth the wait

going nicely but still waiting the first big contract. Let's hope they don't disappoint

What EM said >>>>>>>

"Talking at the Cleantech Forum in San Francisco on Wednesday this week, the 39 year old entrepreneur (Elon Musk) told the assembled audience that he’d bet on supercapacitors, not batteries, to deliver an important breakthrough in electric vehicle range.

Unlike batteries, supercapacitors do not lose the ability to store charge with age. As a consequence they could potentially offer future where electric car owners are not faced with the worry of battery packs wearing out before the car does.

Supercapacitors also have a much higher power density than batteries, meaning they can provide power far more quickly than existing battery technology".

Placing at what price?
I had some spare time so I tried to work out at what price will be

I opted @ 1.75p

reasons:
company said is going to be above "last placing price" .... it was at 1p
substantial discount to the Company's current share price
is going to be 31 million shares

How I work it out:
31M shares at 1.75p = 0.542M raise
500K for the company
42K for the brokers fees to arrange the placing

For any new investors- A bit of company History

Super Cap Me -- 8 July, 2013

SECRETED away in an industrial park in Lane Cove, Sydney, a team of materials scientists and engineers coat an aluminium substrate with a special sauce of activated carbon.

Down the corridor, technicians disassemble a Kindle ebook reader, and replace its internal battery with a flat prismatic supercapacitor in a flat silver packet, allowing it to run off the power generated by a solar panel.

And soon, the same supercapacitors made by CAP-XX (pronounced with one “X”), scaled up and connected in parallel, may be found in micro-hybrid and hybrid electrical vehicles from major international automotive makers.

We talked to Pierre Mars, Vice President for Quality and Applications Engineering at CAP-XX, to find out how Australian innovation could soon make drivers’ lives a whole lot easier.

Automotive pivot
CAP-XX’s core IP was first developed by the CSIRO in the mid-to-late 90s. Anthony Kongats, who was then involved in electrolytic manufacturing at Plessey Ducon in Meadowbank, started working with CSIRO to integrate their activated carbon technology into supercapacitors.

“CSIRO was being asked to get external funding for some of their research work, as their budget was being tightened,” explained Mars.

“So Anthony funded some of that work, and got the rights to the IP for the carbon coating in return for that funding, and that was the start of what was then energy storage systems.”

Early supercapacitors from CAP-XX retained the cylindrical form factor of regular capacitors, but were much larger, and could deliver a few thousand farads of capacitance.

“The party trick was that you could charge it up, go into a meeting, whack a paper clip across and you’d melt it,” Mars said.

After raising some seed funding for the startup, CAP-XX surveyed the market to find the prime focus for its technology, and decided to start making small and slim supercapacitors in a prismatic form factor for consumer electronics such as wireless modems and LED camera flashes.

“Back in 2000…as a startup company we recognised that the automotive industry would be too slow moving for us to succeed,” Mars explained.

“It has only been in the last couple of years as global warming, reduce emissions, improved fuel economy, price of gas, all that sort of stuff, has now driven people into looking at what we would call micro-hybrid, and to hybrid solutions.”

This prompted a decision in late 2011 to enter the automotive market.

“Market acceptance has just come now. People now have a genuine need because they are being pushed on fuel economy and emissions reduction.”

Cranking it up
Micro-hybrid vehicles use the start-stop system, which automatically shuts down and restarts the engine during stops. By reducing idling time, the system helps cut fuel consumption and emissions.

However, the start-stop system places a lot of strain on the battery, and current implementations require the use of expensive heavy duty batteries such as absorbed glass material (AGM) variants in order to cater for the required load.

“Instead of starting your car three or four times a day, you are now starting it forty, fifty, hundred times a day,” Mars pointed out. “Particularly in city traffic.”

The solution is to pair up a supercapacitor system with a smaller battery, and use the supercapacitor to provide the repeated high power cranking current required to start the engine.

Since the battery no longer experiences the cranking current, it can be smaller and lighter, which, together with the light weight of supercapacitors, would provide further fuel efficiencies.

Additionally, since supercapacitors can accept extremely high currents, such a system could also be connected to regenerative braking in order to recover even more power.

“Stop-start systems started with higher end cars and are coming along in the last two or three years. So we started looking at it, and we also started getting interest in it,” Mars said.

“People were making enquiries, and we could see the opportunities, so we made some prototype large cells. We now have a low volume production line here to make those, to meet sample needs for evaluation.”

While the current coating allows an impressive power density of around 90kW per kg, to cater for the automotive systems, CAP-XX looked to alter its proprietary coated foil technology to be higher energy.

In May 2013, CAP-XX announced its GC1 EDLC supercapacitor cells which provide 1400 Farads and Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) of around 0.26 milliohms. The low ESR means it is possible to draw amperes out of the supercapacitor, and only experience a low voltage drop.

How to make supercapacitors
To make supercapacitors, create the coated electrode foil, and cut it out. The positive foil layers are joined together to construct the positive and negative terminals, then ultrasonically weld them together.

The assembly is then put into a silver pouch package, filled with electrolyte, sealed, and tested.

Since the key intellectual property for CAP-XX is in the coating of the electrodes, it manufactures its coated foils in Australia, and sends them to Malaysia for volume assembly into supercapacitors.

Its Malaysian manufacturers utilise production equipment from CAP-XX, which was shipped over along with work instructions. A data acquisition management system allows the Australian company to have oversight over the manufacturing process and test results.

In the case of the automotive supercapacitors, as they are currently being provided in sample quantities, they require small runs, which can be done in Australia.

Showing off one of the sample units, Mars said the form factor, similar to that of a large prismatic lithium-ion battery, allows for easier system designs, and is easier to pack into a smaller space compared to cylindrical cans.

“This has been made by off-the-shelf production equipment that was designed to make lithium-ion batteries,” Mars said.

“That is why we can set up a low-volume line here cost-effectively, because we can buy some of the key equipment at reasonable prices from China. That’s what makes the automotive market attractive. The capital cost to set it up is reasonable considering the potential returns.”

When asked about the potential for competitors to reverse engineer their products, Mars said the ultrasonic welding made it impossible to do so with the coated foil.

“Assembly-wise, anyone can cut it up and see how it’s put together, but making the production equipment to do it effectively is non-trivial,” he said.

“It’s quite a high barrier to entry. You have to have the right coated foil that will work with the electrolyte, the right separator…it’s a system. If you don’t get all the bits right, then you will have short life, or other problems.”

A powerful future
Much of CAP-XX’s business is in export – while there are a few small-scale design houses in Australia who buy supercapacitors, most of the volume comes from overseas.

“Often we would work with the design team, help the distributor win the design by giving application support to the customer, and then the customer will get the unit made in China or Singapore or Malaysia themselves, and we drop-ship our parts to the manufacturing location,” Mars explained.

CAP-XX is still supplying supercapacitors for electronic systems, and is working on a surface-mountable supercapacitor.

At the moment, all supercapacitors have to be mounted on a circuit board as a secondary operation in production, after the reflow process.

Standard supercapacitors cannot pass through a reflow oven, because they have liquid electrolyte absorbed into the pores of the activated carbon. The vapour pressure inside can cause the package to rupture when the unit is subjected to the temperatures (260°C) inside a reflow oven.

To make a surface mountable supercapacitor, CAP-XX will need to develop fundamentally different materials that do not exert vapour pressure.

By making a surface-mountable supercapacitor, CAP-XX hopes to make the creation of products bearing supercapacitors more cost-effective and better suited for high-volume applications.

On the automotive front, CAP-XX has already had a number of top tier suppliers sampling its supercapacitors, and is hopeful of a mass-market breakthrough within the next two to four years.

The company is also speaking to racing companies, for possible inclusion of supercapacitors in Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems (KERS), a variant of regenerative braking used by racing cars.

“When the racers go around the corner, they capture that energy, then push that energy out when they accelerate out of the corner. They get an extra one or two hundred horse power on top of what their engine gives them, in a short burst,” said Mars

The light-weight nature of supercapacitors is a point of special interest for racers looking to minimise their vehicle weight.

In the manufacturing process itself, CAP-XX continues to work on streamlining production, reducing costs by 25 to 50 percent, and improve materials utilisation and yield.

With the company also looking to explore applications in energy harvesting and wireless sensors, CAP-XX is also hoping to improve its supercapacitors’ life, allowing them to last longer in set-and-forget type applications.

CAP-XX has licensed its technology to Murata, a Japanese manufacturer, and will be looking for more licensing agreements with large players who can effectively scale up the production and distribution of the supercapacitors.

And while it is possible that CAP-XX will eventually become a pure IP company, Mars is keen to keep manufacturing its own parts, and be directly in the market, since it allows the company to engage directly with its user-customers, explore new applications, and get feedback.

Sydney, Australia – May 18, 2015 – CAP-XX (LSE:CPX), a leading developer of flat supercapacitors for burst and back-up power in space-constrained electronic devices, today launched its Thinline series of single-cell supercapacitors. The world’s thinnest at 0.6mm thick, and with prices starting at less than US$1 in large volumes, Thinline was developed to address the size, weight and cost challenges of designing thin, sometimes disposable electronic devices for the Internet of Things (IoT). Examples include wearables (medical, fitness and health monitors, smart watches, drug delivery systems), portables (active credit cards, smartphones, RFID tags), and connected electronics (smart homes and smart buildings, electronic shelf labels, wireless sensor networks).

To reduce thickness and manufacturing costs, CAP-XX increased the power and energy density in its electrode materials to deliver equivalent performance in about half the volume, and eliminated the folded edges and copper terminals that contribute to thickness in its Standard line supercapacitors. (For comparison, CAP-XX’s thinnest traditional single-cell supercapacitor is 1.10mm.)

CAP-XX supercapacitors benefit from a unique nanotechnology construction that stores electrical charge in engineered carbon electrodes on aluminium foil, to minimize resistance and maximize capacitance (see diagrams at www.cap-xx.com/products/photo-gallery). This unique electrode construction packs the highest energy and power densities possible into thin, prismatic packages.

Supercapacitors are ideal for handling peak power events, supporting batteries and energy harvesters configured to provide low-power current at maximum efficiency. This architecture allows designers to use smaller, cheaper, low-power batteries and extend their run-time and cycle life, or intermittent ambient energy sources such as solar photovoltaic. Supercapacitors are also ideal for ultra-quick device charging and wireless power transfer, and provide the backup needed for graceful shutdown and “last gasp” transmissions in mission-critical applications.

CAP-XX Thinline supercapacitors deliver all these benefits to IoT devices, supporting power requirements for wireless communication (BluetoothTM, Bluetooth SmartTM, ZigbeeTM, Z-WaveTM, AntTM, active RFID), electronic paper and OLED displays, haptic feedback, vibration alerts, GPS acquisition, and injection or inhalation systems.

The idea was born while working with a customer designing a disposable insulin pump. “We figured out how to eliminate materials and change some processes to reduce costs and thickness,” explained Anthony Kongats, CAP-XX CEO. “Thinline works with thin-film, solid-state, and other low power batteries such as coin cells/button cells, energy harvesting modules based on solar, vibration/kinetic, RF, and other ambient energy sources, as well as inductive/wireless and cable/cradle fast-charging systems.”

Reason why I am in

Supercapacitors bridge power gaps.

If the peak power required to support a function is greater than the average power required by the device, you’ve got a job for a supercapacitor. One ubiquitous example of this is radio frequency transmission. Wireless technology enables billions of consumer and industrial devices, but it can be very power hungry. Everything that connects needs bursts of power to transmit data – power that batteries and other current-limited sources like energy harvesters and USB power supplies often can’t supply, but a supercapacitor certainly can.

And if the primary power supply is subject to failure or fluctuation (like a mains plug being pulled out, a battery running out of charge, or a cloud passing by a solar panel), a supercapacitor can ride through the power gap too, acting as an on-board, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS).

And if your primary source is an energy harvester, or if you just want a battery-free, fast charging solution, a supercapacitor will function as the energy store, the power supply, and the on-board UPS.

Supercapacitors create advanced power solutions that enable the latest technologies. Discover how CAP-XX provides the power to wireless, consumer, and commercial devices.

what someone else think...........
IF it is a pennant it needs to complete and b/o in a maximum of 15 trading days, otherwise it is classed as a triangle. [according to Bulkowski]
needs to hold 3.75 line

The average b/o takes place at 85% of the length of the pennant, therefore CPX sp could b/o from tomorrow, but must do by May 27th or pattern is bust.

Today is the day for CPX to break from the Pennant pattern downside

The Pennant
The pennant forms what looks like a symmetrical triangle, where the support and resistance trendlines converge towards each other. The pennant pattern does not need to follow the same rules found in triangles, where they should test each support or resistance line several times. Also, the direction of the pennant is not as important as it is in the flag; however, the pennant is generally flat.

CAP-XX wins order under automotive MoU

CAP-XX has received a follow-on order for its automotive supercapacitor units under its memorandum of understanding with a global tier -1 auto components company.

This order was placed after encouraging results from the first test and evaluation samples of the units.

The customer has placed orders for additional evaluation units which CAP-XX will manufacture at its Lane Cove facility in Australia for delivery to the customer in the third quarter of this year. The company says it is also encouraged by initial industry feedback on its recently launched range of Thinline supercapacitors.

Chief executive Anthony Kongats said "We are delighted to have received a follow-on order for automotive supercapacitors under our Tier-1 MoU and are very encouraged by initial feedback from our customer."

CAP-XX an investment opportunity? - Posted on June 2, 2015

I’ve been interested in CAP -XX for the following reasons.

1) CAP have a patent for the worlds smallest supercapacitor. These are like mini batteries. Please see here for more information.
2) Small company that previously traded at a much higher sp. Believe they have stagnated due to cashflow issues.
3) CAP have a licence agreement with Murata who are currently buying similar type companies. Murata could potentially make a bid for CAP-XX.
4) The timing of the patent for the worlds smallest super capacitor is perfect as product is ideal for wearable technology and IoT (Internet of things). IoT being something we are going to be hearing a lot about.
5)Murata are selling components to Apple for their smart phones. This could be a route into Apple for CAP-XX.
6) It is possible that CAP-XX are currently arranging with Murata for them to mass manufacture their components under licence. The sp should rise when we get an RNS about components being manufactured or a significant announcement about an order.
7) CAP-XX have just received £1m for investment via a placing of new shares at 3.25p. You wouldn’t therefore expect the sp to fall below this level in the near future.

8) CAP-XX have recently become of interest to many private investors. The share price has therefore become more volatile. At the current low share price the opportunity exists for the sp to double in the short-term providing the opportunity to remove original capital whilst retaining an investment the business. This being a strategy I use for risky investments.

This is a speculative investment and the returns will be either significant or zero.

Time is running out to invest in CAP-XX as business is involved in road shows mid June, awareness amongst investors will therefore increase regarding the businesses potential.

The reason for investing now.

The following chart indicates that resistance is strong whilst the support line highlighted suggested that it should be possible to purchase shares at c3.45p. The support line however is getting shallower and shallower.

The sp in May has fallen by 34%. The last two candle sticks however indicate a bearish engulfing pattern suggesting the fall in the sp is about stop and a reversal happen.

Today I invested at 3.44p based on believing this is about as low as the share price will fall. Time will tell if I have made the correct decision and entered at the bottom.

Thales Avionics - Cap-xx

Thales sees sales of aircraft entertainment systems up 10 pct
Mon Jun 8, 2015 3:20pm EDT - By Alwyn Scott

MIAMI (Reuters) - Airlines will drive annual sales growth of in-flight entertainment systems by more than 10 percent for several years as they scramble to put better Internet connections on aircraft, the head of Thales' connectivity business told Reuters on Monday.

Travelers increasingly want airlines to provide connectivity on flights that matches what they have at home, Dominique Giannoni, chief executive officer of Thales' InFlyt Experience business, said in an interview at the International Air Transport Association annual meeting in Miami.

People want to watch a movie on an in-seat screen while checking email on a computer tablet and working on a laptop, he said.

"It's multitasking in the air," he said. The Thales unit provides entertainment, Wi-Fi and connectivity systems on aircraft.

The stakes are high for airlines, which can spend hundreds of millions of dollars equipping fleets and want to ensure systems are not quickly outdated.

But airlines also must compete with new systems offered by rivals, meaning they are looking at steep upgrades.

Many current systems provide only limited bandwidth and use in-seat screens that frequently freeze and need rebooting. Customers want fat bandwidth and bigger screens, Giannoni said, fueling growth for Thales, market leader Panasonic Corp and others.

"What is changing our world is the arrival of high-capacity connections on aircraft," he said, noting the growing use of satellite connections from providers such as ViaSat Inc, Iridium Communications Inc and Intelsat SA.

In five to seven years, almost all commercial aircraft will be connected, he predicted. A year ago, only half of the worldwide fleet was expected to be wired by 2020.

For Thales, whose entertainment and connectivity systems are on Boeing Co and Airbus aircraft, demand will soon drive sales above 10 percent a year from the current high single digits, Giannoni said. Industry sales also will rise to more than 10 percent. He expects Thales to gain market share.

Thales does not break out the unit's sales.

Thales is creating modular systems that allow components to be changed to offer a range of configurations and minimize concerns about obsolete technology.

Giannoni predicts premium seats will continue to have large in-seat screens, even as some airlines experiment with phasing screens out of the economy cabin and simply letting travelers use their own smart devices

Thinline receives prestigious Electron d'Or Award

CAP-XX Limite -07 July 2015

Thinline range of supercapacitors from CAP-XX receives Prestigious 'Electron d'Or 2015' Award from ElectroniqueS Magazine

CAP-XX, a world leader in supercapacitors, today announced that its Thinline supercapacitor family has been awarded an "Electron d'Or 2015" by the French magazine 'ElectroniqueS' in the Passive Component category in an awards ceremony preceded by a conference on the Internet of Things("IOT"). The winner in each category is determined by an independent jury of recognised experts in the electronics industry and is selected from products released in the year leading up to the awards.

"The prestigious Electron d'Or 2015 award is an important recognition of CAP-XX's position in providing enabling technology for the internet of things ("IOT"). Our Thinline supercapacitors address the demands of developers of wearable devices, such as medical, fitness and health monitors, smart watches, and drug delivery systems." said Anthony Kongats , CEO of CAP-XX.

"Thinline directly address the space-constrained needs of new products developed for the IOT, which made the range from CAP-XX a logical choice for the Electron d'Or 2015 in the Passive Component category," said Pascal Coutance, Editor in chief of ElectroniqueS magazine.

Market Makers Games or just one way to do trades?

During the last 7 minutes of trading the MM at bid 7.35p move out to offer 7.35p

the reason was they had to released the trades done earlier at a fixed price ( so able to report just the market close )

The trades were done during the time that though a large spread 7.35 v 7.55p, the MM was offering at 7.45 then 7.42, then 7.40 and finally 7.375 and 7.37p
the reason of lowering the price to buy was cuz they were running out of time and there was some large sales at a fixed price 7.35p.

Once the trades were done then the MM ( SING ) did moved from being at bid to being at offer 4.23pm

that is Market Makers games to get sells or buys done, Playing with level 2, PEEL does the same games in another way

Explore super capacitors market propelled by the demand from transportation and healthcare segments and slated to grow at 35% CAGR to 2020

Published on Thursday, 06 August 2015 by Rohit Sharma WhaTech Pro Trial

Super capacitors are electrochemical capacitors that are capable of holding more energy per unit volume and can bear multiple charge and discharge cycles compared to conventional batteries.

These are also called as Ultra-Capacitors and are governed by same governing principles as conventional capacitors but are incorporated with high surface areas and thinner dielectrics which decrease the distance between the electrodes that enable power supply stabilization, greater energy storage, energy regeneration and many more.

Due to these properties, the super capacitors find application in electric vehicles, cars, buses, elevators, and others where regenerative braking and short term energy storage needs to be achieved.

The super capacitors market is forecast to grow at a rate of 35.4% during the period 2015-2020. The high growth is due to the increasing adoption of super capacitors into transportation, consumer electronics and healthcare industry.

Electric vehicles and medical equipment are the key end use products which require efficient regenerative braking and short term storage of energy and are estimated to significantly escalate the market value.

The healthcare segment is the highest growing market in the period 2015-2020 owing to the escalating demands from the industry for effective power management and wearable devices. The medical wearable devices require compact and high energy storing devices and the ultra-capacitors meet the requirements and offer cheap, low power, and support batteries.

In 2015, CAP XX Co. Ltd has launched a product of 0.6mm thickness which is ideally suitable for wearable and portable devices.
With increase in the disposable and wearable medical devices, such as disposable insulin device or fitness tracking devices, the market for super capacitors is set to witness a high growth rate of 42.2% in the forecast period.

At the same time, the market growth is forecast to be aided by the transportation products. Buses, Electric Vehicles, Trams, and so on are the prime potential target for the companies to develop products.

The electric vehicle market is the promising among all of the transportation products whereas the trams, metro trains are seen as the potential segments owing to the government projects in certain regions. In China, in May 2014, 100% super capacitors powered low floor train was launched in which the ultra-capacitors provide the necessary power to the traction system.

The capacitors in this train are capable of 1 million charging cycles, that is, it possesses lifespan of around 10 years. Hence, with more such initiatives the not only transportation cost is reduces but performance also can be improved.

Thus, the market has growth prospects in the transportation and healthcare industries.

CPX - By IAN LYALL, PROACTIVE INVESTORS, FOR THIS IS MONEY -PUBLISHED: 13:59, 14 September 2015

SMALL CAP IDEAS: CAP-XX's tiny super-capacitors should be no laughing matter once the technology takes-off

The surge in the share price of technology firm CAP-XX over the past six months has been nothing short of spectacular.
Investors lucky enough to get in at March’s £2.5million fund-raising, priced at 1p a share, are sitting on a near 600 per cent paper profit. Those who exited at 8p have done even better.
However, there is an argument the current price of 7p a share is merely a staging post to a valuation way in excess of the current market cap of £19million.
Certainly, if orders materialise from 20 or so automotive companies it is working with, or the integration of its tiny super-capacitors into machine-to-machine technology takes off, then the current share price will seem laughable.
Driving forward: CAP-XX's specialism is in super-capacitors – from the wafer thin, to those large enough to help power a high performance sports car.

Driving forward: CAP-XX's specialism is in super-capacitors – from the wafer thin, to those large enough to help power a high performance sports car.
Listed on the AIM here in London, CAP-XX is an Aussie headquartered firm that is tapping into some potentially huge global markets.
Its specialism is (as mentioned earlier) super-capacitors – from the wafer thin, to those large enough to help power a high performance sports car.
In layman’s terms, super-capacitors bridge power gaps.
They store electricity very efficiently, so it is there when it is needed. Importantly, they are able to supply the current in sharp, very powerful bursts.

Chief executive Anthony Kongats says CAP-XX’s technology is ‘disruptive’ on a number of levels
Its Thinline product is the lightest, thinnest super-capacitor on the market and is ideal for electronic devices such as mobile phones, tablets and laptops where space is at a premium.

The ability to extend battery life is an added bonus that will no doubt be seized on by the consumer electronics industry.
However, the Internet of Things, where machines communicate via wireless, could be transformed by devices such as CAP-XX’s.
Its larger units, used in cars and for jump starting trucks, offer customers 'more punch for their dollar' by being smaller, but more powerful than the other products on the market.
Very little of this latent potential was apparent in the last set of results – the prelims – which were nevertheless revelatory on a number of other levels.
They showed the company’s gross margins, on sales of A$4.4million, had more than doubled to 30.6 per cent in the space of the year as CAP-XX became more efficient.
They also told us the royalties from Japan’s Murata Manufacturing, which uses the technology in a number of electronic devices, were on a sharp upward curve.
CAP-XX AT A GLANCE
AIM ticker: CPX
Value: £19million
Share price: 7.1p
Year high: 8.71p
Low: 0.75p
Notable also was the amount spent on research and development, which at A$2.6mln, was 60 per cent of revenues.
Boss Kongats makes no apologies for the amount invested back into products.
What he is selling is not another ‘me-too’ super-capacitor, but the best in class product, be that at the micro-end of the market, or larger units.
'We need to keep ahead of the competition,' he told Proactive Investors.
'If we cut back then we won’t be huge or a success. We believe there will be large growth in a number of markets we address that justifies the level of R&D
'We have to have something unique to sell.'
Neither is this a single-shot-on-goal company.

It is currently active in areas or developing products for car keys, electronic locks, smart metering and building controls.
Add to that list: smart credit cards, electronic shelf labels, medical and fitness devices and asset tracking.
Tiny product: Its Thinline product is the lightest, thinnest super-capacitor on the market and is ideal for electronic devices such as mobile phones, tablets and laptops where space is at a premium

Tiny product: Its Thinline product is the lightest, thinnest super-capacitor on the market and is ideal for electronic devices such as mobile phones, tablets and laptops where space is at a premium
Each, in and of itself, is a multi-million pound market.
'We are selling the shovels here to the gold miners,' CAP-XX boss said.
'I don’t know which application is going to take-off in the medical market for instance, but what I know is they are going to have a better product using CAP-XX.'

Among the high profile products on the market is a next-generation insulin pump that uses its super-capacitors – and provides an entre to the wider medical devices arena.
CAP-XX has a twin-track approach to commercialising its Intellectual property.

The larger opportunities in consumer electronics, mobile telephony and the automotive sector, it will joint venture or license out.
But where the market is smaller, the company will oversee the manufacturing of the product, while maintaining control of the technology at the core.
The plan ultimately is to be for advanced power what Intel is to the computer central processor – the default technology.
Currently CAP-XX’s Thinline product is under evaluation with more than 20 different companies involved in developing machines that talk to one another – part of the so-called Internet of Things.

A further twenty-odd automotive businesses are interested in the technology – some of these collaborations are close to throwing up licensing opportunities.
These and the deal with a tier-1 vehicle components maker to commercialise the truckStart product (it does as the name suggests), should tell investors the next six to 12 months will provide many more catalysts for share price growth.
'What’s held us back in the past is we have been waiting for the technology convergence to happen,' said CEO Kongats.
'We’ve had our technology ready, but others haven’t. That’s all changed and it is having a profound effect on our prospects.'

from many different places

Just a reminder of deals we know we are waiting for

1. Car Deal 1 "Truckstart" with North American Global Tier 1 Auto components Company 'initially for development of products for the North American Truck Market'

2. Car Deal 2 " a separate global Tier-1 automotive systems company has bought a number of 500F cells, in November 2014, for the development of a Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) for use in racing cars, prior to anticipated broader adoption in sports cars."

3. Car Deal 3 "Another global Tier-1 automotive components company has approached CAP-XX to licence a patent and has tabled an initial offer involving an upfront license fee, plus a sliding scale royalty on sales. This opportunity is currently in active negotiation."

4. Thales Feasibility Study - Graphene Supercapacitors ? This would be mega and make CPX a huge 'concept stock' favourite amongst Investors.

5. Thinline - Mulitple sector opportunities in Wearables, Energy Harvesting and Smart Credit Cards Just a reminder of deals we know we are waiting for

i think the product is very interesting indeed, but remain puzzled as to why CPX and GRPH have both fallen so heavily out of favour
is there a fear that the chinese will easily copy this technology, or is that just a "panic play" or similar?

The rise short term looks over, there was 3 important points that were reached yesterday

the Stochastic reached overbought, resistance was also reached and the price went over the upper Bollinger Band.
Naturally I sold 2 lots

edit
Share holders do not want to see it, but is happening all the time after a large rally.
main reasons:
1- since yesterday reached resistance @ 8.20p
2- the Slow stochastic also reached overbought
3- and at the same time Share price was over the upper Band on the Bollinger Bands ( sell signal )

KEEP AN EYE
@ 6.60p ( 6.55 - 6.65p )

and my reasons are:
Had a very large retracement since reaching intraday 8.20p
The large spread earlier is being close bit by bit and buying is happening again, and could be the signal of the large selling trades are over, MMs are asking full ask price for any buying

mentor - 23 Sep 2015 13:10 - 161 of 215

re - time to buy again?

It seems it was the right time ( I did, I could not buy them at better price not even on a T+2 ) as the share price has now gone level with yesterday's close
MMs are keeping the spread large

a couple of trades have been paying premium for the trades.

first buy for the day over 7p is now happening, so good omen for the reversal

key reversal
A one-day reversal pattern that occurs when a market makes a new low, a spike low, known as a downtrend, and then reverses to close at or near the high, known as a downtrend, of the price bar. The implication is that the market has experienced an extreme intraday sentiment change and a reversal is likely.

That bodes well for CPX with the connection with Murata .........

7 Oct'15 - TOKYO— Apple Inc. parts supplier Murata Manufacturing Co. said it would build a new, $100 million factory in Japan, defying widespread worries a slowdown in China’s economy could damp smartphone sales.

“Even if the growth rate comes down to a certain level, we see demand for components increasing,” company President Tsuneo Murata said in an interview Wednesday.

While better-known Japanese electronics giants have struggled in recent years, Murata has strengthened its market-leading position in several kinds of smartphone parts,.including tiny capacitors and radio-frequency filters. As smartphones grow more sophisticated, they need more of these parts.

Result of AGM and Chairman's AGM statement

The Board of CAP-XX announces that all resolutions put to shareholders at the Company's Annual General Meeting held earlier today were duly passed.

CAP-XX's Chairman, Pat Elliott, also provided the following update in relation to the Company's activities:

"The Board is very pleased with recent progress made with our large supercapacitors aimed at the automotive market. Our customers and potential partners have undertaken rigorous testing of our products, both in the field and in the lab, over the last several months, with excellent results. The Board looks forward to potentially providing additional updates on our automotive applications over the remainder of this quarter and the first quarter of 2016. We are also very pleased with the progress with our research and development partner Thales, and other third-party product development contracts, which is expected to continue over the coming months.

"The Board is also very encouraged by the interest shown by customers desiring small supercapacitors targeted at the various Internet of Things (IoT) markets. Murata royalties have more than doubled over the last year, and while still modest in absolute terms, we are pleased that Murata is forecasting increased small supercapacitor sales.

"As a result of our research efforts and after rigorous testing we have now increased the voltage rating of our Thinline and our single G series cells to 2.5V and 2.75V peak, and our dual cells to 5V and 5.5V peak. We believe that the effect of these significant performance improvements will be to greatly broaden our addressable markets. More importantly, this makes CAP-XX supercapacitors even more cost effective than previously. Our new Thinline range of supercapacitors has been very well received, and we have seen an increasing level of requests for product testing and prototyping in end products. As customers plan for the changes to these new parts, we expect that we will see some deferment of orders from the first half of the financial year to the second half.

"We remain very excited by the opportunities that we see for our supercapacitors in the automotive markets and the IoT and remain confident for the outcome for the year."

CAP-XX developing industry's first 3 Volt thin prismatic supercapacitors

CAP-XX (LSE:CPX), a leader in supercapacitors that deliver peak power to support or replace batteries, today announces that it has developed the industry's first 3 Volt (3V) thin, prismatic supercapacitor.

Anthony Kongats, CAP-XX's Chief Executive Officer, will cover the new 3V developments in a paper that he is presenting titled "Using thin prismatic supercapacitors to support 3V coin cell batteries", on 12th April 2018 at the IDTechEx conference in Berlin. It is anticipated that CAP-XX's 3V supercapacitors will complete production trials shortly, with samples expected to be available to customers in August 2018, and commercial production potentially commencing in Q2 2019.

Spire Health Tags launched in Apple stores globally

CAP-XX, a world leader in supercapacitors, is pleased to announce that Apple Inc. ("Apple") has selected the Spire Health Tag wearable device, which incorporates a CAP-XX Thinline supercapacitor, to be a featured health product in Apple stores globally.

CAP-XX first announced in that it had secured a contract to supply Spire, Inc. ("Spire) on 15 August 2017, its first high volume order for Thinline supercapacitors. The Health Tag was launched by Spire in November 2017, with customer dispatches commencing in Q1 2018. The directors of CAP-XX anticipate that further follow on orders from Spire will be forthcoming in the second half of the Company's current financial year.

Spire Health Tags are now available in Apple stores in the US, UK and China, and will be in further stores worldwide later this autumn.
Anthony Kongats, Chief Executive of CAP-XX said:

"We are delighted that Spire has secured this important distribution channel for its innovative internet of things (IoT) fitness and wellbeing monitoring device. The Board is encouraged by yet another example of the value CAP-XX provides to these devices and by the broader validation of the market potential for IoT devices in general."

not sure how important this is to the company, though sp is +15% this morning

CAP-XX said Monday TDK Corporation had agreed to licence a family of the company's patents on a non-exclusive basis for a range of supercapacitor sizes.

TDK, an electronic component supplier, with sales in excess of US$11bn and over 100,000 employees, would join Murata and AVX as licencees of CAP-XX's supercapacitor IP, further enhancing CAP-XX's strategy of building and licencing its IP portfolio.

The royalty rate that would be paid TDK to CAP-XX was in line with the royalty rate agreed to in other licence agreements previously announced with Murata and AVX, CAP-XX said.
