So what's that all about, oilwatch. Presumably you work for them or have a vested interest of some kind?

oilwatch - 09 Jan 2008 12:51 - 3 of 22

Harry - just a shareholder, but I hope the header is of interest. Results due in Feb and should pay a good dividend. DYOR

HARRYCAT - 09 Jan 2008 13:00 - 4 of 22

So what's with all the advertising? What with pop-ups & flashing links, the last thing we need is yet more on each BB.

oilwatch - 11 Jan 2008 02:46 - 5 of 22

Harry - the best way to research a company is to see what it's about. If you are not interested, then why complain? Not many will visit this thread, but I am sure those who take an interest will appreciate my fast track learning curve. All the above links are relevant to JIM and I have no intention of amending my thread to suit you. No offence intended or taken.

Hi Oilwatch! Good of you to start a thread. I had been meaning to start one myself as I have been in this since spring 2007, but I never got around to it (and this is probably a good thing given that its SP has dropped off since!).

However, this co seems to have a good pipeline of clients and I was quite encouraged by their share buybacks as I recall. They seem quite upbeat about the future, but it has been a while since I followed their progress closely.

I worked in global custodial banking (close to the settlements side) and so have a bit of a personal interest in the field.

Anyway, PDYOR and good luck.

PS don't mind Harry - he's just jealous of your artistic talents. :o)

Just a reminder:

"Finally the company wishes to advise that it intends to release its audited

Not too many shares about on the open market, most tightly held, so it won't take much for this to fly imo. dyor.

Also used them for all my on line trading for several years now. Very efficient, never had a problem. Would like to see them have a site similar to MoneyAm but appreciate they are too small to venture that far. They could of course buy into a competitors site re a percentage that would reflect their size. Don't know enough or carried out sufficient research to comment on them as a share bet, so won't comment on that line.

Results came out yesterday and they look pretty good to me!

Highlights:

* Final dividend +140%
* Earnings per share +114%
* Profit before income tax +96%
* Revenue +32%

Final Dividend:

The Board propose an increase in the final dividend to 6.0p (2006 2.5p) per
Ordinary 1p share to holders on the register at 8 February 2008 and payable on
14 March 2008. The ex-date for the dividend will be 6 February 2008.

By my calculations the stock, at a price of 208p to buy, is on a "Jim Slater" PEG of 0.13 or thereabouts - which is very very cheap.

The Chairman comments that the market seems to overlook Jarvis' strengths. Let's hope this changes.

Jarvis Securities plc

('Jarvis' or 'the Company')

Outsourcing Agreement with Advance Frontier Markets Fund Ltd

Advance Frontier Markets Fund (AFMF) has appointed Jarvis Investment Management
plc (Jarvis) to establish and administer an Investor Regular Savings Scheme for
investors in the Fund.

AFMF was admitted to trading on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange on
15 June 2007, having raised gross proceeds of $85m. Today it has net assets of
almost $90m.

AFMF is managed by Progressive Developing Markets Limited (PDML), a subsidiary
of Progressive Asset Management Limited which was formed in London in 1996 as
the holding company for a series of independent FSA regulated fund management
companies. PDML is dedicated to investment in global emerging and frontier
markets. It has been investing in emerging markets since 1998. PDML's total
assets under management are $900m.

The Directors of Jarvis are pleased to have been asked to administer this
additional scheme and believes this endorses its reputation as a supplier of
cost effective outsourcing services within the investment administration sector.
Further it adds to the expanding commercial fee based work and moves the Company
away from being viewed only as an execution only stockbroker

They also bought a few more shares to be held in Treasury this week, too.

I liked the last comment by the directors; hopefully the market will get the message that JIM offers a full range of services and start valuing the stock accordingly.

Jarvis Securities plc

('Jarvis' or 'the Group')
Possible Offer/Dividend payment/Trading updateJarvis confirms that it has received an unsolicited approach to acquire its only trading subsidiary, Jarvis Investment Management plc, at a valuation in excess of Jarvis's current market capitalisation. The Group is trading ahead of management expectations and in view of this and strong cashflows, the board believes that the approach does not reflect the value and prospects of the Group and has accordingly rejected it. The board is considering its options which could include consideration of a sale of Jarvis.

In light of the continuing strong performance so far in 2008, Jarvis is pleased to declare an interim dividend of 7p per Ordinary share (increased by 75% on the 4p paid for the 2007 interim) to be paid on 25 July 2008 to the holders of Ordinary Shares on the register as at 27 June 2008. The ex-dividend date is 25 June 2008. Taking into account the final dividend paid on 14th March 2008 of 6p per share, this will make the total dividend paid for the year 13p (increased by 100% on the 6.5p paid in 2007). The dividend should not be taken as giving an indication of the Group's likely earnings for the current year.

In accordance with Rule 2.10 of the City Code on Takeovers and Mergers, the Company confirms that it has 10,800,000 ordinary shares of 1p each in issue and admitted to trading on the London Stock Exchange under UK ISIN code GB00B013J330.

Dealing Disclosure Requirements:

Under the provisions of Rule 8.3 of the City Code on Takeovers and Mergers (the 'Code'), if any person is, or becomes, 'interested' (directly or indirectly) in 1% or more of any class of 'relevant securities' of the Company, all 'dealings' in any 'relevant securities' of that company (including by means of an option in respect of, or a derivative referenced to, any such 'relevant securities') must be publicly disclosed by no later than 3.30 pm (London time) on the London business day following the date of the relevant transaction. This requirement will continue until the date on which the offer becomes, or is declared, unconditional as to acceptances, lapses or is otherwise withdrawn or on which the 'offer period' otherwise ends. If two or more persons act together pursuant to an agreement or understanding, whether formal or informal, to acquire an 'interest' in 'relevant securities' of the Company, they will be deemed to be a single person for the purpose of Rule 8.3.

Under the provisions of Rule 8.1 of the Code, all 'dealings' in 'relevant securities' of the Company by the Company, or by any of its respective 'associates', must be disclosed by no later than 12.00 noon (London time) on the London business day following the date of the relevant transaction.

A disclosure table, giving details of the companies in whose 'relevant securities' 'dealings' should be disclosed, and the number of such securities in issue, can be found on the Takeover Panel's website at www.thetakeoverpanel.org.uk.

'Interests in securities' arise, in summary, when a person has long economic exposure, whether conditional or absolute, to changes in the price of securities. In particular, a person will be treated as having an 'interest' by virtue of the ownership or control of securities, or by virtue of any option in respect of, or derivative referenced to, securities.

Terms in quotation marks are defined in the Code, which can also be found on the Panel's website. If you are in any doubt as to whether or not you are required to disclose a 'dealing' under Rule 8, you should consult the Panel.
