Scott Wilson Group plc

AGM Statement and Interim Management Statement

At today's Annual General Meeting of Scott Wilson Group plc ('Scott Wilson' or 'the Group'), the international design and engineering consultancy for the built and natural environments, the Chairman, Geoff French, will make the following statement:

'Our diversity, both geographically and across market sectors, continues to serve us well during this time of reduced certainty. Demand in some sectors, especially road and rail both in the UK and internationally, has remained very strong and a number of major projects have been secured. Elsewhere, especially in areas related to private commercial development, conditions remain depressed with little sign of improvement in the short term.

In recent weeks the Group has won several engineering design packages on London's Crossrail project - Paddington Station, Farringdon Station, Pudding Mill Lane Portal and the Bulk Power Supply Design in addition to the extensive remodelling associated with the On Network Works for Network Rail. These commissions and a significant share of the planned South Island MTR Line in Hong Kong, can be attributed to the combination of our existing skills and those of Benaim, the metro and light rail specialist acquired last year. These rail projects require substantial input from staff in all sectors including from Buildings & Infrastructure which has been badly impacted by the economic situation in the UK. The Europe & Africa Region has been successful in winning significant road and rail projects in Poland, Serbia and Mozambique. As a result of these wins and many others both in the UK and across our expanding international operations, our order book once again stands at record levels and the pipeline of opportunities is consistent with our internal targets.

In light of these opportunities and our continuing projects, the Board remains confident of achieving Group performance in line with its expectations in the current financial year.

Internally the Group has transitioned to a new market facing management structure based on five core business sectors: Strategic Consultancy, Railways, Buildings & Infrastructure, Environment & Natural Resources and Roads. This new structure provides enhanced management clarity and makes Scott Wilson even more client focused bringing further efficiencies to the delivery of our services.

Scott Wilson will announce its interim results for the 26 weeks ending 1st November 2009 on 15th December 2009.'

Dil - 07 Sep 2009 10:06 - 32 of 163

Broken the quid mark can it hold ?

Dailos ... saw the movement in MIRA (the new YOO) , wouldn't touch it with a bargepole.

Dailos - 07 Sep 2009 15:35 - 33 of 163

Never heard of them Dai , where do you dig all that crap up from ??? :-)

Finished above a quid today folks , first time since Feb.

Fred1new - 08 Sep 2009 17:24 - 35 of 163

Bound to be down to-morrow. Look at the volumes after the bell! SELL.

Dil - 08 Sep 2009 18:51 - 36 of 163

lol yeah , and if you believe all you read Fred it went up on 8k buys against 93k of sells .

Your begining to sound like tabby :-)

marni - 08 Sep 2009 21:07 - 37 of 163

is it not ex-divi tomorrow........so sp should drop a few % at least

Dil - 08 Sep 2009 21:43 - 38 of 163

I'll lower my price target a couple of pence to take account of it :-)

tabasco - 09 Sep 2009 08:35 - 39 of 163

I would lower a couple more?

Dil - 09 Sep 2009 08:43 - 40 of 163

Why ?

Well in profit , stop loss in place , let the winners run.

tabasco - 09 Sep 2009 08:55 - 41 of 163

Stop loss trigger at more than 5%that dont sound like a Mondeo driver?

marni - 09 Sep 2009 08:55 - 42 of 163

u must have a shedload on it if u r well in profit........many shares are multi baggers this year with some 10 baggers already like ciu......this share is a plodder but ok to have in portfolio and check it once in a while

Dil - 09 Sep 2009 09:07 - 43 of 163

tabby , stop losses of sub 5% are ok for trading , swg / isg and a couple of others I hold in my sipp are hardly likely to be shares people trade as liquidity is low.

marni , had a few ciu but joined the train a little late and I'm now out. % wise I am well in profit on these having bought at a little under 60p and added more at 62p and 83p , you do the maths. I'm not looking for the one big hit unlike some.

marni - 09 Sep 2009 10:11 - 44 of 163

i dont look for huge hits but i've got about 20 stocks of which 2 have went up 7 times this year alone......i was just pointing out that this seems more f a share that will rise gradually.....not having a go or anything and it pays a decent divi

Dil - 09 Sep 2009 10:19 - 45 of 163

That dig was for someone else marni , the plonker who filled his boots all the way down to suspension on meldex.

tabasco - 09 Sep 2009 10:52 - 46 of 163

Dilin that case 2008 should have been an horrendous year for meit wasnt!in fact I would class it as good considering capitulation going on all around.this year has been tremendousI think you should pick and choose those you call a plonkerI think a castle springs to mind?I have always given you credit when you have impressedtry being a Gentleman.

Dil - 09 Sep 2009 10:55 - 47 of 163

I'll take your word for it.

How many scln's you bought ?

Dil - 11 Sep 2009 09:25 - 48 of 163

Scott Wilson part of consortium awarded Mersey tidal energy project

Scott Wilson Group plc ("Scott Wilson" or "the Group"), the international design
and engineering consultancy for the built and natural environments, is pleased
to announce that it is part of a consortium appointed by Peel Energy to
investigate the possibility of harnessing the Tidal energy in the Mersey
Estuary.

The Mersey has one of the largest tidal ranges in the UK and has the potential
to make a significant contribution to the Government's target to secure 15% of
UK energy from renewable sources by 2020. An initial feasibility study,
part-funded by the Northwest Regional Development Agency, will identify a single
preferred tidal power scheme that stands the greatest chance of delivering the
maximum affordable energy from the tidal resources in the Mersey Estuary. The
team will then go on to prepare a planning application for the preferred scheme.

The contract is worth up to GBP5 million over two years to the consortium.

The Scott Wilson Consortium includes 1st tier partners; Electricity de France
(EDF) and Drivers Jonas LLP and several Northwest based SME's.

Hugh Blackwood, Group Chief Executive, comments: "We are delighted to have been
selected for this pioneering project to design a sustainable method of power
generation and help secure a renewable source of energy from the Mersey River.
Our inclusion in this consortium demonstrates the growing diversity of our
expertise and ability to operate in niche, highly specialist areas of the
market."

kimoldfield - 09 Oct 2009 13:03 - 59 of 163

JDG looks interesting Dil, may be a little illiquid possibly due to the small amount of shares in issue? Or have I got the wrong one? Chart certainly looks inviting! Progress is good.

Dil - 09 Oct 2009 13:20 - 60 of 163

Yep doesn't seem to be much liquidity Kim so be careful but it works both ways , first target 240p.

SWG could make 130p today if it carries on like this , oh joy :-)

Dil - 09 Oct 2009 13:23 - 61 of 163

... and just for skinny the volume is there to confirm the action.

Brewins;

Scott Wilson is a leading global multi-disciplinary consultant which we believe is being fundamentally undervalued by the market. In our view the April 2010 P/E of 6.5x in no way reflects the quality/industry standing of the business, its diversity (better illustrated by the new reporting structure), exposure to the emerging markets infrastructure investment boom, and a market position which we believe would be very attractive to overseas predators. Following recent contract awards which have taken order book visibility to above historical levels, we increase our 12m target price to 207p (Dec 10 EV/EBITA 7.9x, PER ex pensions 11.7x) from 125p and add Scott Wilson to our Conviction Buy list.

Dil - 09 Oct 2009 20:21 - 73 of 163

A trading statement is due on 29/10/09

kimoldfield - 09 Oct 2009 20:26 - 74 of 163

Dil - 09 Oct 2009 20:36 - 75 of 163

Very good week Kim ... Brewin are making me look a bit of a cheapskate but in fairness their target is a 12 month one while mine is by xmas :-)

kimoldfield - 09 Oct 2009 20:51 - 76 of 163

Well, xmas is almost here, just back from Chester and looking around the shops you'd think it was next week! I'm sure xmas only lasted 3 weeks when I was a young lad!!

SCOTT WILSON PRE-CLOSE STATEMENT

Scott Wilson Group plc ("Scott Wilson" or "the Group"), the international design
and engineering consultancy for the built and natural environments, today issues
a pre-close statement prior to the announcement of the Group's Interim Results
for the 26 weeks ending 1 November 2009, due to be announced on 15 December
2009.

The Group's proven ability to provide integrated services globally continues to
see Scott Wilson achieve significant success across a broad range of major
opportunities. In addition, we are benefiting from our new management structure
in maximising the Group's involvement in the higher growth market sectors
identified in our business plan. This is demonstrated by a number of recently
reported project wins including major design packages for Crossrail, the Hong
Kong MTR, the Mersey Tidal Barrage Study and more recently the GBP8 million Odra
River Basin Flood Study in Poland. There have also been notable successes in
securing major road and rail work in Serbia, Mozambique and India.

During the first half of the year the financial performance of our Joint
Ventures has been better than initially foreseen. This largely reflects the
Group's prudent approach to profit recognition and, although final settlements
are yet to be agreed, the Group's share of the profits from the Joint Ventures
at the half year is now expected to be at least GBP2m. As a result, the Board
anticipates reporting interim results ahead of current market expectations.

skinny - 29 Oct 2009 16:40 - 92 of 163

Dil - I took a spread bet on them earlier - all be it nowhere near as large as my original holding - strong close in the auction ! :-)

ellio - 29 Oct 2009 17:14 - 93 of 163

If they come-in with 10p, it may be higher for the first 6months and with the future potential you could be looking at 25p forecast, = solid 250p, plenty to go at from here, 200p looks definatle possibility short-term, or at least to test it.

Dil - 13 Nov 2009 08:06 - 94 of 163

AVN breaking out skinny ... now don't say I didn't tell you :-)

ACHL worth a look too but the chart doesn't take account of a 10:1 stock split a couple of weeks ago.

Dil - 13 Nov 2009 10:44 - 97 of 163

... and I still hold SWG :-)

skinny - 13 Nov 2009 11:01 - 98 of 163

Dil - 16 Nov 2009 18:59 - 106 of 163

Who cares as long as it stays up there for a few years Fred.

jkd - 16 Nov 2009 19:26 - 107 of 163

off topic i know, but avn, just took a look at the chart and the break out.very quick and first impression is, where is the volume?
please do be careful
regards
jkd

Dil - 16 Nov 2009 20:23 - 108 of 163

On plus I think jkd but a valid point , doesn't seem to take much to move them one way or the other.

Dil - 16 Nov 2009 20:31 - 109 of 163

64,103 on plus 15,667 on lse not sure what the average volume is.

jkd - 16 Nov 2009 21:15 - 110 of 163

Dil thanks for that.
i was looking at MAM chart and volume. are they different? i dont know. do you?
surely total volume traded should be shown. irrespective of market or exchange shouldnt it? otherwise we could end up with conflicting evidence and views.
just eyeballing the volume on the Mam chart seems to be circa 1600 highlghted by x 10 so volume appears to be circa 16000, which is pretty close to the 15667 figure that you mention above for lse.
anyway its maybe something MAM might like to confirm or clarify.PI"s might also take note and be aware of.seems to be an anomaly, but only for those that require and need to consider volume and it's effect and relationship to price movement.
regards
and good luck
jkd

Dil - 16 Nov 2009 22:03 - 111 of 163

They are different , you need to add the two together. I believe that moneyam are working on including plus volume in their data which is from the lse.

I did a quick calculation and todays 80k total volume is well above average I think.

Dil - 17 Nov 2009 13:58 - 112 of 163

AVN , tenner by xmas :-)

Dil - 18 Nov 2009 07:59 - 113 of 163

PE of 5.5 at the moment, this means that they are very very undervalued and should be more like 200p at PE10, most of these serivice orgs because of good long term steady business are enjoying hogher multiples I thought! Either way got to be a solid hold, am I missing something?

Dil - 15 Dec 2009 23:54 - 123 of 163

Still in as stop loss not been hit but struggling to understand the change in the pension fund situation.

Also , don't like companies with recurring "exceptional" items ... close below 104p and I'm out.

kimoldfield - 16 Dec 2009 09:01 - 124 of 163

I'm still trying to adjust to this statement:- "Adjusted operating profit is operating profit adjusted for recurring adjustments, together with redundancy costs and an exceptional contract loss."
;o)

ellio - 16 Dec 2009 09:18 - 125 of 163

Well even with all that in mind, fundamentally they are on a pe of 5, this seems cheep, very cheep. This looks like a sqeeze post results, but I could be wrong.

Dil - 16 Dec 2009 23:38 - 126 of 163

Still in ... just.

cielo - 17 Dec 2009 22:58 - 127 of 163

When assessing a fall like we have had over the last few days you have to say to yourself 'has anything changed?' The answer in this case is affirmative.

Anyone should have sold long time ago as the downtrend took shape, second bounce moving below 120p

Scott Wilson awarded Project Management Commission for High Speed Rail Project
in Saudi Arabia

Scott Wilson Group plc ("Scott Wilson" or "the Group"), the international design
and engineering consultancy for the built and natural environments, is very
pleased to announce that Saudi Railways Organisation (SRO) has awarded the Group
the contract to provide project management support to the new Haramain High
Speed Rail Project.

The contract to Scott Wilson is valued at GBP14.5 million over the next five
years. Scott Wilson will provide technical, specialist engineering and programme
management support services to the SRO, both at its headquarters in Dammam and
around the construction and commissioning sites.

This is the first high speed rail programme in the Middle East and is a 320 kph
railway linking the cities of Makkah, Jeddah, the new King Abdullah Economic
City and Medina, as well as the International Airport in Jeddah. The 440km line
will not only provide fast and safe transport for pilgrims to the Holy Cities,
but serve as a highly effective public transport link between fast growing and
economically active commercial centres.

Hugh Blackwood, Group Chief Executive, comments, "Saudi Arabia is a rapid growth
area with continuing investment in key infrastructure. Scott Wilson is delighted
to be involved in such a high profile rail project which provides a further
opportunity to apply our growing global rail credentials."

Avanti Communications Group plc

Launch schedule confirmation

Avanti Communications Group plc (AIM: AVN), the broadband satellite operator, is pleased to announce that Arianespace and its subcontractors have confirmed today that the Soyuz launch for HYLAS 1 remains on target for launch by September 2010.

The fully assembled HYLAS 1 satellite is now in thermal vaccum, making final preparations for shipment to the launch site with no change to the prior schedule

Dil - 16 Apr 2010 10:11 - 137 of 163

I'm wondering if I should sell half into the frenzy before lift off or go sh*t or bust on a successful launch (odds are heavily in favour of one).
