Be a bit like Her, guess the advfn crowd are pushing this, those that chase
at the top will have big paper losses, best to wait a few days and pick them
up much cheaper, Her went to 2p intraday, now 1.4p bid and running out of
steam, just too risky to chase stocks up these kind of %'s intraday.

When the continents broke up and India left Africa and Madagascar behind and shot up towards Pakistan and China (heaven knows why they would do that )...anyway coming back to the plot....the Solomon Islands were left behind....I think that's what happened...it's like a bank robbery and they forgot the loot ...

ravey davy gravy - 14 Sep 2010 11:53 - 10 of 135

Some real gamblers in this stock, paying 12p or a penny premium when they
close up the limits, think it's TDW that is doing this, glad i'm not with them
although nobody is forcing anybody to press buy when quoted that price.

I have to say that the Solomon islands are in the pacific not in the indian ocean.....proper mix up...sorry.... anyway the story was good... mixed up with the Seychelles.....they are the other side of Papua new Guinea...did some checking and located them......sorry India nowhere near you.....

KEY POINTS

Rannes:

Wide, near surface gold intersections.

Drill hole results KAU13, 86m at 1.50g/t gold and 15.1g/t silver (1.74g/t gold equivalent) and KAU6, 40m at 1.69g/t gold and 25g/t silver (2.02g/t gold equivalent).

Drill hole KAU8, 4m at 7.04g/t gold and 10.8g/t silver (7.21g/t gold equivalent).

Drill hole HOM43, 30m at 2.4g/t gold and 33g/t silver (2.83g/t gold equivalent), including 14m at 4.5g/t gold and 54g/t silver (5.17g/t gold equivalent).

The current program is designed to increase the resources of gold and silver by close spaced drilling around areas of previous good drilling results.

Extended 25km long prospective zone from Police Camp Creek to Kockatunga.

Target of approximately 1.0Moz gold equivalent.

Fauro:

Fauro surface sampling continues and further results expected over the next few weeks

Commenting on the recent results from the Homestead and Kauffmans Prospect, Nicholas Mather, Solomon Gold Chief Executive, said: "The Company is pleased to report that following the recent stoppage of drilling associated with unseasonal rain, drilling has recommenced on the Rannes Project. The current program is designed to increase the resources of gold and silver by close spaced drilling around areas of previous good drilling results and is targeting to increase open-pit resources to about half a million ounces of gold equivalent within three-months.

All the results from Homestead and Kauffmans have been received and the best results from Homestead were from drill hole HOM43, 30m at 2.83g/t gold equivalent, including 14m at 5.17g/t gold equivalent, from a depth of 32m. The Kauffmans results are particularly encouraging in that there are several shoots that could potentially be incorporated into a single open-pit mine design; KAU13, 86m at 1.50g/t gold and 15.1g/t silver, from a depth of 2m and KAU6, 40m at 1.69g/t gold and 25g/t silver, from a depth of 26m. The highest grade result was from drill hole KAU8, 4m at 7.21g/t gold equivalent (7.04g/t gold and 10.8g/t silver), from a depth of 26m. The deposit is unclosed by drilling in almost all directions and presents substantial upside to contribute significantly to the 1.0Moz target at Rannes.

The results from the adjacent prospect, Cracklin are expected before the end of the month. Importantly, gold grades and gold:silver ratios are substantially higher at Homestead and Kauffmans; and Solomon Gold management believe that there is significant potential for extensive gold rich mineralisation at all the Rannes Prospects.

The Company and its resource and reserves consultants are currently assessing revised resources for Crunchie, with additional resources at Homestead and Kauffmans.

The Homestead and Kauffmans Prospects are part of a cluster of gold-silver prospects, that are within 5km of Crunchie, and offer the opportunity to consolidate the group of prospects into an economic project with a central processing plant." he added.

The Rannes Project currently comprises three areas of interest; Central Rannes, Police Camp Creek/Brother and Cooper (see Figure 1 in the Appendix to this announcement in the 'Latest News' section on the website, www.solomongold.com). The current drilling program is designed to increase the resources of gold and silver by close spaced drilling around areas of previous good drilling results. The strategy is to increase the total open-pit resources to about one million ounces of gold equivalent (The gold equivalent is based on a gold to silver ratio of 1 to 64, utilising the average gold and silver price for 2010 year to date.) in the next three-months.

The more accessible prospects, following unseasonal rain, at Homestead, Kauffmans, and Cracklin, part of Rannes Central, have recently been drilled and the assay results from the drilling at Homestead and Kauffmans have been received. The results from adjacent prospect, Cracklin are expected before the end of the month. The drill rig is currently at Crunchie engaged in extending the 200,000oz gold equivalent Inferred Resource. Drilling at the Brother prospect is scheduled to start by month-end, with assay results due mid to late November. A further drilling campaign will then commence at Homestead and Kauffmans following a review of the assay results received.

Figure 1 and 2 in the Appendix to this announcement in the 'Latest News' section on the website, www.solomongold.com shows a plan and section of the results of the Homestead drilling. Table 1 in the Appendix shows the assay results from the Homestead drilling. The best results were from drill hole HOM43, 30m at 2.83g/t gold equivalent (2.4g/t gold and 33g/t silver), including 14m at 5.17g/t gold equivalent (4.5g/t gold and 54g/t silver).

Figure 3 and 4 in the Appendix to this announcement in the 'Latest News' section on the website, www.solomongold.com shows a plan and section of the results of the Kauffmans drilling. Table 2 in the Appendix shows the assay results from the Kauffmans drilling. Excellent results have come from the Kauffmans zone with intersections to 86m at 1.50g/t gold and 15.1g/t silver in KAU13, and 40m at 1.69g/t gold and 25g/t silver in KAU6. The best results were from drill hole KAU8, 4m at 7.21g/t gold equivalent (7.04g/t gold and 10.8g/t silver). The Kauffmans results are particularly encouraging in that there are several shoots that can be incorporated into a single open pit. At this time the deposit is unclosed by drilling in all directions. Additionally the results at Homestead and Kauffmans signify significant depth potential for higher gold grades and gold:silver ratios.

The presence of anomalous molybdenum in several intersections suggests a deeper porphyry style source for the gold mineralisation.

The Homestead and Kauffmans drilling pattern for this campaign was varied from the previous north south pattern to north-westerly. This change was designed to prove the south-easterly dip to the main body of mineralisation, and has confirmed that the majority of intersections are close to true widths. Hole HOM11 (see Table 1 in the Appendix) passed underneath the base of the deposit.

The Homestead and adjacent Kauffmans Prospects are part of a cluster of gold-silver prospects that are within 5km of Crunchie, and offer the opportunity to consolidate the group of prospects into an economic project with a proposed central processing plant. They also offer the opportunity to augment the resources at Rannes with mineralogically similar and shallow depth ore. The prospects lie along similarly oriented structures dipping through dirty limestones, shales and tuffs at approximately 45 degrees to the southeast. The Shilo prospect lies about 800m southeast of Kauffmans and appears to be very similar, but has yet to be tested by first pass drilling. Shilo is a priority target in the current program.

Solomon Gold independent consultants are currently modelling results to determine resource calculations for Crunchie, Homestead and Kauffmans. Cracklin results will be assessed when received. Additional resources are to be outlined at Cracklin, Brother, and the deeper extensions of Crunchie.

The Company has recently defined the Kockatunga silver prospect, 8km north-north-east of Crunchie. Kockatunga is interpreted to represent a surface silver rich expression of an extension to the Rannes Central Group of prospects, extending the prospective zone from Police Camp Creek, 25km along the eastern margin of the Bowen Basin in a Carlin style mineral environment.

Fauro Update

At the Company's Fauro Project in the Solomon Islands, work continues with rock chip sampling and mapping ongoing. The next set of results is expected to be available in the next few weeks. Sampling and mapping will also commence shortly on the Northern Fauro prospects, previously identified from high bulk stream sediment samples taken in the area. Analysis of the results from the Ballyorlo Prospect have identified an area 600m by 300m of plus 0.1g/t gold soil samples between two magnetic highs, one 400m by 500m and the other 700m by 300m. The magnetic anomalies are interpreted to represent porphyry systems from which surface molybdenum anomalies have been sourced. The zone of gold anomalism is interpreted as lying in the upper levels of a mineralised system above the porphyries.

The Company is currently sourcing a drilling contractor to complete a 9,900m diamond drilling campaign, commencing before the end of the year. As well as further modelling of the magnetic data to establish the dimensions, and particularly depth of the anomalies with three-dimensional modelling, an IP survey (Induced polarisation: a geophysical technique capable of directly detecting scattered primary sulphide mineralisation) is also planned over selected targets on the Fauro Island.

Qualified Person

Information in this report relating to the exploration results is based on data reviewed by Mr Nicholas Mather (B.Sc. Hons Geol.), the Chief Executive Officer of the Company. Mr Mather is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy who has in excess of 25 years experience in mineral exploration and is a Qualified Person under the AIM Rules. Mr Mather consents to the inclusion of the information in the form and context in which it appears.

News of more finds, sp on the move up no one watching? Will see how it goes tomorrow.,.

Shares in sector minnow SolGold (LON:SOLG) were up more than 65% after it announced encouraging results from Cascabel gold-copper project in Ecuador.

The company said recent stream sediment, rockchip, and channel sampling, together with geological mapping, has identified three areas of outcropping porphyry gold-copper mineralisation. Two main areas have been identified at Quebrada Moran and Quebrada Alpala. These areas are 1.5 kilometres apart and are interpreted to represent portions of a single large porphyry gold-copper system.

Elsewhere the big winners in the mining sector were the those with exposure to the platinum mines near Rustenburg in South Africa's North West Province.

Shares in Aquarius Platinum (LON:AQP) were up more than 10% and Lonmin (LON:LMI) nearly 5% after South African police, supported by military personnel, launch a crack-down on strikers and protestors at the weekend.

As a result Aquarius resumed mining operations at the Kroondal platinum mine. The company temporarily suspended mining operations on Friday (14 September) to ensure the safety and security of employees and assets given the rising tensions and protests within the regional workforce and communities.

The company commended the South African government and police services for their intervention and support.

Faring less well was Thor Mining (LON:THR) which fell by nearly a quarter despite announcing an 'encouraging' extension at its Spring Hill gold project in Australia.

Commenting, Mr Mick Billing, Executive Chairman of Thor Mining, said, SThis is an encouraging extension to the known mineralisation at Spring Hill. While we do not have all the assays from the program and therefore cannot speculate on any possible resource extensions, it is encouraging to confirm the extensions to the mineralised system.⬝

The company also indicated that its expenditure at Spring Hill has exceeded the amount required for it to exercise its option to increase its equity to 51%, and notice has been provided to joint venture partner Western Desert Resources which has commenced a verification review of that expenditure.

Strong Porphyry Copper Gold Assays

Over 845 Metres in Hole 5 at

Alpala Prospect, Cascabel Project

The Board of SolGold (AIM code: SOLG) is pleased to report that drill hole CSD-13-005 at the Alpala prospect within the Cascabel Project at the Company's copper-gold porphyry exploration project in northern Ecuador (refer Figure 1), has returned strong porphyry copper gold results over 845 metres of the hole to date. The results indicate discovery of a large high grade copper gold porphyry system.

Highlights:

Ø Large scale, high grade porphyry system discovered.

Ø Drill hole CSD-13-005 was temporarily suspended on 20th of December 2013 at 869.68m in strong copper and gold mineralisation open at depth pending delivery of additional drilling equipment.

Ø Final assay results from sample batches 1 and 2 of drill hole CSD-13-005 have returned the following copper-gold intersections:

· 845.68m @ 0.39% Cu & 0.24 g/t Au (from 24m to end of hole).

· Higher grade intervals including:

· 154m @ 0.43% Cu, 0.25 g/t Au (from 244m to 398m);

· 211.68m @ 0.69% Cu, 0.51 g/t Au (from 658m to end of hole);

· Last 91.68m returned 0.90% Cu, 0.79 g/t Au (from 778m to end of hole).

Ø Copper and gold grades increasing with depth.

Ø Strong correlation between magnetite, magnetic response and copper mineralisation in CSD-13-005 confirms significance of 4km2 Alpala magnetic complex.

Ø Drill hole CSD-13-005 expected to resume drilling during the last week of January with targeted depth of 1500 metres.

SolGold CEO and Managing Director, Mr Alan Martin said: "The results from Hole 5 are the most exciting results from our Stage 1 drill program which commenced in early September last year. The presence of 5-10% magnetite in altered porphyry with strong copper and gold mineralisation indicates that over 4km2 of high order magnetic signatures at Alpala are high grade copper gold porphyry targets. The 1 billion tonne target we originally set fits easily into this system.

SolGold raises $41.23m via share placing

SolGold has announced that the Company has raised $41.23m via the placing of 78,889,080 new ordinary shares at 41p each.

The total includes a placement of $40m to Newcrest International, a subsidiary of Newcrest Mining, an existing 10% shareholder of SolGold. The new investment is estimated to take their shareholding position in SolGold to 14.54%.

In addition, $1.23m has been placed with Ecuadorian investors further endorsing the Cascabel Project and SolGold's pan-Ecuadorian copper-gold porphyry exploration strategy.

As part of securing this placement, SolGold has agreed to a revision to the subscription agreement with Newcrest Mining to include an anti-dilutionary right to participate in any new equity raisings for 12 months at a level of 14.54%. After this 12 month term, the terms of the original subscription agreement with Newcrest dated 30 August 2016 continue, providing Newcrest with anti-dilutionary rights at a 10% level until 30 August 2019.

The agreement also provides that Newcrest agrees to support certain transactions including change of control transactions in SolGold which are recommended by the Board, supported by an independent evaluation, and by not less than 60% of the Company in acceptances or at a General Meeting of shareholders.

The Company said the funds raised will be used for the continued exploration of the Cascabel Project, general working capital and SolGold's pan Ecuadorean exploration strategy.

Commenting on the agreement, SolGold's CEO Mr Nick Mather said:

"The arrangement with Newcrest, particularly in the area of technical liaison over the past 6 months since their original investment into SolGold, has been pleasingly smooth and the SolGold Board and management are encouraged by this further endorsement of the technical merits & management's commitment to the Cascabel project, SolGold's exploration strategy across Ecuador and SolGold's interests generally.

SolGold Boosts Budget to Explore for Copper, Gold All Over Ecuador
By REUTERS JUNE 16, 2017, 1:03 pm.

LONDON — Copper and gold explorer SolGold on Friday said it was raising $41.2 million (32.25 million pounds), on top of more than $30 million announced in October, as it widens its search for resources in Ecuador after already finding one world class asset.

Ecuador has been increasing its profile as a country open to foreign mining and has shifted its resource focus from oil and gas as its reserves dwindle and oil prices stagnate, analysts say.

The world's biggest miner BHP rated SolGold's mineral exploration prospects sufficiently highly to seek a deal but SolGold rebuffed it in favour of an agreement with Australian gold miner Newcrest Mining.

According to a share placement announced on Friday, Newcrest will pay a further $40 million to increase the size of its stake to 14.54 percent as part of a placing to raise a total of $41.2 million.

That adds to last October's agreement that Newcrest would spend $22.86 million buying new shares equivalent to 10 percent of SolGold, while private investment firm Maxit got 4.43 percent of the company for $10.1 million.

CEO Nick Mather said the new placement at a 15.5 percent premium to Thursday's closing price and a discount to SolGold's peak share price of 46.75 pence in May this year was a vote of confidence.

Mather said Ecuador was underexplored, especially compared with Chile, the world's biggest copper producer, where miners have been complaining about dwindling ore quality and rising costs.

.Abundant reserves of gold found in association with copper add to the appeal of mining in a more northerly country.

"The great thing about the North Andean copper belt is it gets increasingly gold-rich," Mather said.

"The copper miners will say the gold will pay for the cost of producing copper and the gold miners will look at it vice versa."

SolGold's flagship project in Ecuador is named Cascabel and exploration so far implies it is a major new high-grade copper and gold find to rival some of the largest existing mines, such as Grasberg in Indonesia, controlled by Freeport McMoran Inc, and Oyu Tolgoi in Mongolia, controlled by Rio Tinto.

With a market capitalisation of more than 500 million pounds ($639 million) on AIM, London's market for growing companies, SolGold is seeking to move to a standard listing on the London Stock Exchange.

Daily Mail gets in on the action...this is big news. Investors will be digesting the impact over the weekend. Next week could see a sharp rise in the sp? imo

Cascabel Exploration Update
Ground Magnetics Survey Results and Future Survey Plans

The Board of SolGold (AIM code: SOLG) is pleased to provide an update on the results of the recently completed ground magnetics survey and plans for future geophysics work at Cascabel, the Company's copper-gold porphyry project in Ecuador.

HIGHLIGHTS:
Ø Ground magnetic survey results over Cascabel tenement reveal exciting targets.

Ø Exceptionally high-quality product produced from 650km of total field data acquired at line spacing of 50m.

Ø The ground magnetic data have been processed using several different filtering tools to enhance gradients over a range of wavelengths / depths and improve the detection of structures (e.g., faults and fracture zones) and intrusions.

Ø Ongoing 3D modelling of the magnetic data will enable the direct detection and delineation of magnetite distribution. Initial results are expected soon.

Ø The planned Spartan-Orion hybrid induced polarisation survey will enable the direct detection and modelling of sulphides in 3D to in excess of 3km. This survey can be combined with existing drill-hole logs to construct improved 3D constrained geographical models.

Ø The increased sensitivity of the Spartan-Orion hybrid survey will allow for the production of improved structural and geological rock-type and mineralisation maps.

SolGold plc - Cascabel Exploration Update
Drill Hole 23R Assays Results Reveal - Strong High Grade Zone at Alpala

The Board of SolGold (AIM code: SOLG) is pleased to provide an update on the assay results from Hole 23R at Cascabel, the Company's copper-gold porphyry project in Ecuador.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Ø Hole 23R (Rig 1) assay results:
- 1030m @ 1.16 % copper equivalent (0.59 % Cu, 0.90 g/t Au) from 490m;
- 770m @ 1.44 % copper equivalent (0.71 % Cu, 1.16 g/t Au) from 540m;
- 474m @ 1.88 % copper equivalent (0.89 % Cu, 1.57 g/t Au) from 830m;
- 216m @ 3.08 % copper equivalent (1.29 % Cu, 2.84 g/t Au) from 970m.

Ø Hole 23R intersections noted as one of the most outstanding drilling results in copper and gold exploration history (Ref Table 1: Cautionary Notice), totalling 1195 metre-percent copper equivalent.

Ø Mineralisation occurs in a strongly veined quartz diorite intrusive phase, believed to represent the causative mineralised porphyry at Alpala.

Ø Strong mineralised veining cuts the drill core axis at a high angle (Figure 2) indicating strong potential for lateral extensions.

Ø Current drill holes 23R-D1 (Rig 1), 24-D1 (Rig 3), 26 (Rig 4), and 27 (Rig 2) are in progress with all holes intersecting increasingly mineralised diorite porphyry.

Ø Hole 23R-D1 is testing the mineralisation in Hole 23R (this report) to the north-east, and at depth.

http://www.rns-pdf.londonstockexchange.com/rns/5377J_-2017-6-29.pdf

Commenting on the results, SolGold CEO Nicholas Mather said:
"The results from Hole 23R, the veining at a high angle to the core axis, and the results from Hole 20R to the north strongly suggest extension to Alpala to the north-east. We believe that the core exhibits some strong similarities to the high grade zones at Oyu Tolgoi.

The Alpala high grade zone is getting both richer and larger, and presents increasingly realistic potential opportunities for relatively early and low capital cost, high grade underground mining development."
