Motive tv the one to watch? (MTV)

beebusy - 16 Jan 2012 08:54

Been holding this for a while and while there is nothing to set the world on fire there are positive moves upwards. The sales teams are producing results marketing a product which seems to be gaining approval in many countries.Although one swallow does not mean summer is here, there is a hint of spring in the air.

gibby - 16 Jan 2012 21:12 - 2 of 92

hi bb - well the report i saw and reported on before i think about september last year did state contract wins expected q1 - i can not remember if it was 1 or 2 now and i think budget for 2012 was about 6 minimum to about 8 or 9 in total - values - no idea i am afraid but they have stated will not need to be raising anymore capital and should be self funding after last raising / dilution - we'll see & gl

Could you put the chart in the header post BB? always helpful to have a chart when assessing a Company.

beebusy - 10 Feb 2012 10:44 - 9 of 92

Stan I have only just graduated from the Sinclair spectrum ZX!!! But I am sure some switched on youngster will oblige shortly.

Stan - 10 Feb 2012 10:55 - 10 of 92

Just go to Stockwatch and click onto the little square chart icon on the far left of the Company and then follow the instructions. Basically it's a simple case of cut & pasting the address that will be in front of you.. If I can do it anyone can honestly -):

dreamcatcher - 10 Feb 2012 11:15 - 11 of 92

beebusy, below is a year and a day chart if that helps. Just a case of cutting and pasting each one into your header as only you can do this. Hope this helps.

Your the founder of the thread.

beebusy - 10 Feb 2012 13:30 - 14 of 92

Yes, I think it was the first wife who fancied a rather nasty burgundy flock. in my efforts I managed to drop a rather large dollop on her horrid little dog who promptly licked it off with great relish, the damn woman then had an attack of the vapours and insisted the brute was delivered to the vets post haste, so much for saving money, never bothered since. 90,000,000 + must have secured something at long last??

dreamcatcher - 10 Feb 2012 13:38 - 15 of 92

gibby - 13 Apr 2012 11:34 - 25 of 92

Who's Dan Riccio seen at Granite?

skyhigh - 17 Sep 2012 11:46 - 34 of 92

Better news this morning...would hope that these would start turning upwards?

hangon - 16 Oct 2012 13:27 - 35 of 92

Recent fundraising represents minimal Dilution, and sp has risen off the bottom - presumably a sigh of relief.
My understanding is that MTV enables conventional broadcasters to embrace the Internet - but I'm not entirely clear "how" they do it. Their website isn't a model of clarity, IMHO.
It would be better for MTV if they took the Broadcaster's stuff and added their own "targeted" advertising, only sharing a small % with the Broadcaster - - - but what do I know?
EDIT (18Jan2013)-Seems dilution is their thing, with (Legal) employee settlement in bucketloads of shares.
In Dec2011 this was 17pence, now a tiny % - and there is no-one avail at HQ. What are Execs doing? This was promoted by IC as The Future, but I guess Broadcasters can do it themselves far better. Oh deary.

beebusy - 19 Dec 2012 11:21 - 36 of 92

Well, one heck of a lot of sales this morning 228m on the strength of the launch of their project in the usa of tablet tv which is expected to go virral. We shall see! But in an effort not to get caught in the starting gate have increased my holdings to more suitable proportions.Bang goes Christmas!!!

beebusy - 19 Dec 2012 13:01 - 37 of 92

281m changing hands and a 15% rise so far today, mind you 1m will cost you about £400 which puts it into perspective a bit.Anything heading north these days are a welcome sight!!

hangon - 08 Feb 2013 15:01 - 38 of 92

beebusy don't you get the impression this stock only goes down? They seems to be incapable of doing Deals that the Market likes.
I hold a few from much higher (fool!) and still wonder if their technology is real . . . whilst it read as "compelling" - surely most Broadcasters have WebMasters that could do this, if they needed extra revenue, etc?
(I noted earlier-post that they seem to issue shares frequently . . . and wonder if that isn't the reason they can't make the sp stable . . . sooner or later the holders of these "extra" shares will want to get out, after a nominal "lock-in" has expired . . . . Dunno.).
I like the thought of owning a million shares, but pref in Astra Zenica...
EDIT(22Feb2013)-Ah yes reason for sp slide is they've sold £34k-worth of equity at 0.02pence - as if £34k will start things rolling. . . . . . Huh! It's not enough.
EDIT (5Mch2013)-beebusy, I kinda agree, although having bought-in on an IC "rec" I'm staring at loss, but it's close . . . Their target Mkt (Bcast) is very slow to engage new tech and this may help MTV because Bcasts will go for the safer option and that should be MTV - unless they are ruinously expensive, as it's a free channel with Revenue. I just don't think MTV will benefit too much and that's where the Bus-Model lacks VV-voom. IMHO.
EDIT(14Mch2013)-skyhigh, FWIW, shows there is Buying interest, many other tiny-caps would love.
EDIT(15March2013): Ah now I get it, the sp rose to tempt Diluting investors. RNS today DYOR they paid 00015, with Market= 0004 - but it fell 40% today... Ho Hum.

beebusy - 11 Feb 2013 08:43 - 39 of 92

I think as with most techno firms you need to be on the cutting edge,if your game drops off a fraction you are left behind. This lot are producing the odd program and talking a load of hype about their ground breaking product.Truth is if it was that ground breaking the world would be knocking at their door. The best we can hope for is a modest price rise or a take over. I have a small holding which is parked in the very little hope bay along with a lot of others!Sorry!

skyhigh - 13 Mar 2013 13:24 - 40 of 92

all looking a bit better now isn't it ?... glad I topped up @ .000145p the other day...now doubled - what price at the end of the year ?

beebusy - 13 Mar 2013 13:54 - 41 of 92

If the digi boxes sell well it should certainly boost S.P and probably more importantly bring the company into the radar of other companies looking for the same service. My holding will remain that for the next year or so to see where this goes. I would still expect an approach by one of the big groups if this venture proves a sucess.

beebusy - 16 Mar 2013 14:44 - 42 of 92

Hugh amounts changed hands with the get in and get quick boys leading the charge. All based on a small return per unit of Turkish Digiboxes. Imagine the stampede if they did something really useful in "The States". In the mean time they have subsided back into the simmering murky pool from which they emerged. I would not pawn the family silver to buy, but if a bit of beer money was lying about it would make a reasonable long shot. The price of a pint of beer at the moment would probably buy you a seat on the board!!!

gibby - 17 Mar 2013 15:00 - 43 of 92

hi bb - hope all well with you - what a funny old week here - i have heard one of the next steps is a share consolidation - the sp now is at silly levels according to the bod - remember the guy at the top has done this before making a minnow into a cash making machine and sold out quids in - and in the same industry / almost exact same commodity- gl

hangon - 19 Mar 2013 16:56 - 44 of 92

Whilst CONsolidations may tidy-up the sp it does nothing for the Mkt Cap, which remains the same. Whilst it would be nice if the sp was in pence - but even better if it got there by investors buying.
gibby can you explain the historics behind guy-at-the-top, you mentioned?

beebusy - 20 Mar 2013 10:39 - 45 of 92

Thanks Gibby, Shades of Gladstone Pacific Nickel?? I am not in deep unlike OTC!!! ouch!! As you say there seems to be the same names popping up on the boards of quite a few AIM Market Companies. My long turn aim is to sell off and get out. Her indoors tells me that we are moving house!! And I thought the barge on the Thames would keep her quiet for a while. What a deluded fool I be!! Mind you she has not seen where the money is yet, should be fun??

More good news for motive,s tablet tv today

LONDON -- Motive Television PLC, is working with Granite Broadcasting to delivery live broadcast television to tablet devices. Motive, a London-based television software and services company, announced plans to install a full-featured demonstration of its technology that delivers live broadcast television and video-on-demand to tablets and smartphones in San Francisco beginning mid 2013. This is expected to be followed by a market field test with tablet TV equipped “T-Pods” later in the year and thereafter a commercial rollout.

As the next step in development, Tablet TV LLC, a joint venture between Motive Television and Granite Broadcasting in the United States, will unveil a pilot demonstrating the full suite of the Tablet TV features, broadcast directly to tablets over the standard live ATSC digital terrestrial signal. The consumer features available on tablets will be live viewing of local broadcast stations, recording of live television with PVR functionality, datacast delivery of video-on-demand content, and integrated social media. All of this will be done in the heart of Silicon Valley at Granite’s KOFY-TV station in San Francisco.

Motive said this move represents “the completion of a major milestone as the Tablet TV team, who will have successfully ported Motive Television’s patented technology, that has been in large-scale commercial use in TV broadcasting in Europe since 2009, to tablets using the ATSC broadcast standard.”

This technological breakthrough permits tablet users to view all television broadcasts receivable from public and commercial television stations in their city and the ability to time-shift the viewing of these programs. In addition, Motive’s patented Television Anytime Anywhere software will make possible video-on-demand catch-up and additional movies and television programs directly to the fastest-growing viewing devices – iPads and Android tablets.

An application for a patent of the Tablet TV technology has been filed with the U.S. Patent Office and further patent applications will follow.

“The demonstration pilot at KOFY in San Francisco is the next step in readying Tablet Television for the U.S. market introduction,” said Leornard M. Fertig, CEO of Motive. “Tablet TV continues to move toward its launch and becoming a significant player in delivering content to the fastest growing segment of television viewing. It will permit the television industry to see Tablet TV in action, prove Tablet TV’s technical capabilities in a television broadcast environment, and make our consumer appeal apparent.”

Peter Markham, chairman of Granite Broadcasting said Granite was working on ways to reach the “exponentially growing number of tablet screens.”

Nice bit of good news today....

"Motive Television's patent application titled "Place-shifting apparatus and system" has been approved by the US patent examiner and will be granted.

The patent application was originally filed in 2006 by NXVision Ltd and was acquired by Motive Television in 2010 along with the rest of the assets of NXVision Ltd.

The patent discloses an embedded place-shifting system, which allows transfer of content from a set-top box or similar device to portable devices such as smartphones / tablets.

The patent further discloses the system as allowing the content owner visibility and control of the place-shifting system, permitting new business models and potential new revenues. "

Almost every day I see MTV sp is down 25%, or 30% yet it seems stuck at 0.001p [DYOR]. . . . . is this rats leaving a sinking ship?
I hold a few from about . . . a lot more.
Yet their RNS seem positive, with a Deal here, a Patent there, etc.

driver - 04 Jul 2013 14:47 - 50 of 92

Its money am this site cannot split the 1p M AM is saying at the moment MTV is 28.6% down. where it is only 3.6 down and could finish green as of yesterday.

driver - 04 Jul 2013 15:45 - 51 of 92

Now back to green and M AM showing 28.75% down..

hangon - 09 Jul 2013 12:10 - 52 of 92

Rganks for that, are you suggesting MAM has the wrong-price...or is their calculator wrong, er, perhaps?
I find their Graphs (under Charts), somewhat poor as they show pence it seems and have trailing zeros, so any high price gets chopped off (on my screen anyway) - and low prices appear somewhat confusing. I reality I want to know how the share is doing from a reference point (ie when I considered buying) and now - I really don't need huge precision, accuracy to 5% will do . . . yet MAM can only provide great precision (and at the same time misleading/etc.

MTV is well down,- possibly delays in that ever-elusive "income stream"
EDIT(7Aug2013)- RNS on Dublin winning three productions contracts- good news of course, but the worry is what if the star doesn't make it? The value of the TV documentary depends on the sustained popularity of cage fighting hero . . . still, MTV has little else to shout about. DYOR .

19 September 2013
Motive has continued to develop its Tablet Television opportunities on both sides of the Atlantic during September.

In the US, following completion of the prototype demo the Company and its partner, Granite Broadcasting, are holding meetings in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco with major television industry organizations. The goal is to recruit additional strategic partners to our joint venture. Following these meetings, Tablet TV LLC will work toward a planned market test in San Francisco in the first quarter 2014.

In the UK, discussions are on-going with potential partners and licensees of Motive’s technology leading toward a UK launch in early 2014.

Motive Television hooks up with Latin American heavyweight
By John Harrington January 28 2014, 8:02am

January has been a busy month for TV software pioneer Motive Television (LON:MTV) and it is keeping up the momentum with a new strategic agreement.

It has entered a joint sales arrangement with Castalia Communications, a leading independent distributor of broadcast, satellite, cable and web-based programming covering Latin America.

Castalia will market turn-key video-on-demand solutions to pay television operators and terrestrial broadcasters throughout the region combining Motive's commercially proven Content Express product with Castalia's access to content rights.

Content Express is Motive's new "one stop shop" platform, which encompasses both proven and new capabilities of Motive’s patented technology.

"Castalia is a valuable partner with a strong reputation and extensive client base in the region," said Motive's chief executive officer, Leonard Fertig.

"Our patented and fully integrated revenue enhancing technology-based solutions allow us to jointly create new business opportunities for our clients. Castalia's content and regional expertise will help us build on our success in developed and emerging markets in Europe, Africa and North America," he added.

Luis Torres-Bohl, president of Castalia, hailed Motive's technology for the way it used existing content distribution networks to provide content and value added services to viewers across multiple devices.

Content distributors can make money out of offering these new services without having to make a chunky investment in new technology or infrastructure.

"We are excited to join with Motive and offer our clients the ability to benefit from video-on-demand with this content and technology package, and look forward to working with them to enhance and grow their business models," Torres-Bohl said.

Tablets are the fastest growing media device in U.S. history and the ability to directly watch and record over-the-air HD television and receive VoD with no broadband connection creates a compelling proposition for anytime, anywhere, any device viewing."

Granite Chairman Peter Markham commented, "Tablet TV is a unique service that we envision making available to every viewer in the U.S. with a tablet and access to a local television station signal where the most popular programs on free Over the-Air (OTA) television are found. It is a broadcaster friendly offering that requires no capital investment and enhances local broadcaster's business models by extending their brand and content, leveraging their existing digital distribution network, and creating new revenue opportunities. With a compelling offering for viewers and broadcasters we look forward to our beta launch in San Francisco later this year, a technology savvy market that we believe will be very receptive to Tablet TV."

Tablet TV will be the first complete television service for the U.S. market of 140 million tablet users using the current over the air high definition (HD) ATSC broadcast television signals that will provide access to current HD broadcast television prime time TV and sports, plus on-demand movies and programs. The new television service will be marketed in cooperation with participating broadcasters in each market as it rolls out across the United States, starting with the television markets that Granite Television serves.

With patented and proprietary technology, tablet owners in every market will be able to watch and record all the programming currently broadcast over all the digital terrestrial channels and networks. Additionally, Tablet TV subscribers will be able to download a selection of video-on-demand movies and programs without the need for Internet access and, when they are connected, use integrated social networking and access anything available over the Internet.

Video viewing on tablets is rapidly increasing, with recent figures from GFK showing that 33% of Americans own a tablet and watch at least one hour of video every day on them. According to the DRG U.S. Personal Computer, Tablet, & Mobile Phone Historical Baseline and Forecast, U.S. Tablet users exceeded 140 million in 2013 with active tablets in use projected to exceed 340 million by 2017.

All wonderful stuff, no doubt, but the really interesting thing is omitted....where's the Profit?

Without a decent income stream MTV is collecting Deals that have little shareholder value . . . hence the miserable sp.
EDIT(8July2014)- Wow! Yesterday ~0.01p and plus38% today as things are "improving" - but TO is small, Losses reduced but no profits - yet. Still they seem to be active in good Partnerships, if they can stand the Long Term - therein lies the issue - do they have the Stamina?
EDIT(29Sept2014)-Oops, missed Dir Buys in July2014: about a Grand apiece - hardly says Buy. Indeed, IMHO, Dir-buying below £50k-worth says Sell. We shall have to wait and see.....
The Warrants granted to other Dirs doesn't appear to encourage them investing their own money in this business. . . . Ho-Hum.

The world of broadcasting is set for a real shake up over the next few years, and according to a detailed industry report to be issued next week Tablet Tv will account for as much as 35% of the future viewing audiences.Leading broadcasters are aware that standalone Tablet Tv could have a very significant impact on the industry as a whole, and offers unique advantages for their advertisers and content providers.

The report also states that the future of Tablet Tv will steer towards an "over the air" concept, rather than internet streamed services, yet still offer full "interactive services" for both live broadcasts and "on demand".The forecasts are that Tablet Tv will become the biggest growth area in the industry over the next five to ten years, and one industry analyst believes the market will be worth in excess of $6 billion by 2020.One company at the heart of the action in Tablet Tv is Motive Television, who are a small british company led by Leonard Fertig, known as an innovator and visionary leader who has frequently been at the leading edge of the industry. The report will be published on 19th August.

Hurrah for tablet TV but will MTV be in the running to mop up some of the gravy? For the price of a good curry you can pick up a million or so. I would think that the first step will be to knock some of the noughts off . But Hi Ho I have been in it for the long haul and its certainly that. Now and then I buy up a few more as I still believe very much that this is the future.

Tablet TV Sees Huge Opportunity Ahead Of San Francisco Launch

The once mighty Aereo has been sunk, and as a result competitor Tablet TV has a real chance to become the go-to source for over-the-air broadcast TV on the go. The project is a joint venture between Granite Broadcasting and the U.K.-based Motive Television that aims to let people watch locally broadcast television on their tablets. Originally, the project was broadly slated for a summertime beta test in the San Francisco market and a tentative autumn roll-out, but Tablet TV has zeroed in on an official launch on Black Friday (November 28) and, prior to that, beta-testing in San Francisco beginning early next month, according to coverage from the San Francisco Chronicle.

If all goes according to plan, Tablet TV will involve a portable ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee) tuner with a Wi-Fi transponder that can, via Tablet TV’s app, send over-the-air broadcast signals to Android tablets and iPads. It can also receive a datacasting stream embedded in the ATSC signal, which Tablet TV plans to use for support of a still-in-development video on-demand service. Consumers sign up and then receive a “kit” with the required app and the tuner device. Consumers won’t pay for the basic over-the-air content but, once developed, the VOD service will require payments via either subscription and/or pay-per-view methods.

Tablet TV has also come up with a name for the device behind the service: the T-Pod. It’s essentially a digital TV antenna, tuner, and digital recorder, bundled together into one handheld device. And as far as cost, the company is currently vacillating between $50 and $100.

The inclusion of the embedded signal is the difference that makes Tablet TV legitimate (and cheaply implemented), as opposed to Aereo’s alleged illegality.

On the other hand, broadcasters who decide to join forces with Tablet TV are expected to market the service on their own, in addition to making bandwidth available for the datacast-streamed VOD service. And for all of this, Tablet TV promises some coin: its broadcasters-in-arms will receive co-op marketing payments, a cut of the VOD profits, and – perhaps the central cash cow – incremental advertising revenue as the service’s audience base expands.

It’s not entirely clear at this point whether customers will be able to use Roku, Chromecast or other related tools to move content from their tablets to larger viewing devices, but we’ve reached out to Tablet TV and will update this article as we gather more information.

Updated by Alex Tretbar 8/27/2014 10:30 PM PST: This article has been updated to include Tablet TV’s announcement that the service is set to officially launch on Black Friday (November 28). Until then, the project will undergo beta testing beginning early next month in San Francisco.

30% fall today - now 001p - Market knows best???
This stock is always +-20% almost every other day - but today, this is a dire fall.
EDIT (14OCT2014) - driver, let's hope you bought wisely, but fr my perspective I wondr who will buy those shares off you?
My suspicion is that they don't have any exclusive IP or First-mover advantage - and as soon as Tablets are everywhere there will be multiple ways to access....and multiple ways to broadcast, leaving MTV with little to do, but watch. 1mil are now £100 + Charges. -&- BussyBee what thoughts, eh?
EDIT (23Oct2014)- Today down 33% to .01p -DYOR- looks like today's Issue of ~800million shares has diluted earlier Buys . . . Ooops!
EDIT(7Jan2015)- Odd D-E deal with Bergen DYOR - looks like dilution and they promise not to Short-Sell . . . .so, that's alright. Yet sp 001p that's looking rather Low after all the ??? good progress. Anyone using their Tech in the UK, yet?

Luc Tomasino, head of marketing and launch architect for TTV commented, "We want to tell people who we are, where we are, and what we are about. We are all about San Francisco but very global (SF, NY, Barcelona, London) - which in a lot of ways is what San Francisco is all about. San Francisco is one of the coolest and most international cities in the world. Where better than to take an international service and start it here."

Motive CEO Leonard M Fertig added, "Tablet TV has worked carefully over the past year to prepare for this moment. The envisioned launch in the heart of Silicon Valley and America's most independently-minded city is an exciting start to what Motive believes will be a strong and successful business both domestically and around the world. CON solidation
In Sept 2014 the MTV said there were 35763-million shares in issue DYOR
on 6 March they said 10220-million which is a CON solidation of 3.5:1
However, something makes me think it was a 5:1 CON solidation, but I cannot find an RNS setting out the proposal which resulted in the General Meeting in March 2015.

Anyone confirm this?
As usual IMHO, Co's try to avoid showing their hand to investors and potential investors in case ..... dunno.
