Finland-focused Karelian Diamond Resources has been granted the first two of four exploration claim reservations in the Kuuusamo region by TUKES, the Finnish mining authority.

The decision to apply for the reservations was based on analysis of airborne geophysics together with till sampling and integration of data made available to Karelian under its agreement with Rio Tinto Mining and Exploration.

In both areas, kimberlitic indicator minerals were recovered in till samples and further studies, including microprobe analysis, showed the presence of diamondiferous kimberlitic indicator minerals.

Kuusamo is located in the north-east of Finland just south of the Arctic Circle and is bordered to the east by Russia.

A claim reservation gives exclusive rights to apply for exploration claims within the reservation area.

Chairman Professor Richard Conroy said: "We are delighted to have been granted these claim reservations in an area of Finland which we believe to be highly prospective for diamonds. Following the recent successful fundraising, the company will now proceed with its exploration programme in the area"

I've been in since the 2nd share placement just above 2.50p.....

This is a reminder to why there was a huge spike in volume trade and price during early Dec 2013 and ever since. I have strong belief that they are about to discuss a potential mine at Seitaperä first.


Karelian Diamond Resources' (LON:KDR) shares soared after shareholders were told the company believed it would find a major diamond-rich volcanic pipe in Finland.

Chairman Professor Richard Conroy told the annual general meeting that the company had made significant progress in its diamond exploration programme.

He said: "During the last 18 months the company has made a number of positive discoveries in Finland that lead us to believe that there is a very strong possibility of successfully achieving our aim of discovering a major diamondiferous pipe.

"Recent drilling of further potentially diamond bearing mantle xenolith at Seitaperä was subsequently confirmed as diamondiferous by the recovery of microdiamonds. Two of the micro-diamonds were greater than 60% broken, indicating the possibility of larger stone sizes. At your Company's exploration target Riihivaara we have discovered G9 and G10 diamondiferous indicator minerals, whilst the positive results at Kuusamo have led to new claim applications being made.

"The data made available to Karelian under its agreement with Rio Tinto Mining and Exploration is continuing to be evaluated and indeed, combined with airborne geophysics, led to the decision to apply for claim reservations in the Kuusamo area. Yes, The story is compelling but does hinge on finding the " major diamondiferous pipe"... we'll see how it goes. GL

am in at 1.5p, then traded so now just have a free float. nothing earth shattering just 10k shares but as they are free it is a win/win situation for me.

News are expected, yesterday's hold after the previous drop down to 3.025p was an important point, on the candlestick pattern as it became bullish.
got some at 3.20p

If we get another spike I will seriously consider exiting. Will have to be news flow, that is out of the ordinary, to stay in.

On the move today, so got some more at 2.85p, large buyers soon after 9 am and the MMs put a large spread than lately. Yesterday was the turning point after reaching support and double bottom.

Sold the two lots at 3.35p and 3.40p

reason - went too fast up and was at top of Bollinger BAND, a good point to take profits.

A late movement apart from the up and down of the last few days once did find the bottom for the last 4 days

Had a check earlier but it was a marked up with not much buying and some selling also

late on the day had to pay 2.60p, as the size offering was small

raised £725,000, before expenses, through a placing ("the Placing") of

The Placing Shares were placed with retail investors by Hume Capital Securities

The Directors' participation is a related party transaction under the AIM

After being on the floor for some time after the placing ( nothing unsual ) today ther is live on the shares with volume over the normal since yesterday

there was profit taking but buyers are back at the moment
