akel44 - 22 Jul 2005 15:11 - 4 of 142

Zoo is also hoping that the product will allow it to make a splash in the US, where it has already collaborated with Imagination Games and FremantleMedia on a Family Feud iDVD.

The shareprice has plummeted on this stock.
All promises of this amazing technology and what have they got to show for it.
Who wants to be a Millionaire! Units sold ? other titles ?

Exactly how many people want to play a game on their DVD player?
With games consoles and PC's doing the job extremely well...please could someone at ZOO tell what they beleive their market to be.

It all sounds clever....but you need customers with money to hand over!!

Zoo Digital Close To Deal With Walt Disney Co-Sources

The deal could be substantial for Zoo Digital, which develops and markets interactive technology for the DVD industry. Founded at the height of
the dotcom boom in 1999 under the name Kazoo3D PLC, it changed
its name in 2001 following a reverse takeover.

People close to the situation said Zoo Digital would be a
supplier of applications for interactive games and provide
supplementary background material for DVDs.

"We are hearing the deal could be worth 30 cents a disk," one person said.
He said a decision on the number of disks that would carry
Zoo Digital's technology had not been determined.

Zoo Digital has been testing its software with Disney over the past year,
the person close to the company said.

A spokesman for Zoo Digital declined to comment, but noted that the
company had said during a first-half results presentation in June
that it was in talks with a Hollywood studio.
A spokeswoman for Walt Disney was not immediately available to comment.

queen1 - 11 Sep 2005 18:01 - 19 of 142

So what's that going to do for the bottom line going forward if true and, more importantly, the sp?

akel44 - 11 Sep 2005 18:42 - 20 of 142

queen1:if true? the statement, or what it contains

queen1 - 12 Sep 2005 13:08 - 21 of 142

i.e. is it signed, sealed and delivered? For Zoo to decline to comment on something potentially so positive seems rather odd.

akel44 - 12 Sep 2005 19:43 - 22 of 142

well zoo have not endorsed the rns, so i suppose it
could contain some inacuracies,

queen1 - 12 Sep 2005 19:46 - 23 of 142

Indeed. And the sp has not reacted in as positive way as it should to the news. However, as a holder I hope that it's true and the first of many.

Hi Jacob John.

Received your e-mail from a few weeks back but dint know how to contact you. The link on the e-mail didnt work.

Anyway my appologies and yes Im still in these and keeping them warm in the bottom drawer. Its a pity the markets have gone very flat on consumer products so I wouldnt get much hope for this xmas.

It appears we are in for a bad one all round. But not to worry as class will out in the long term.

ZOO OUTLINES US STRATEGY

Further to a separate statement made today, ZOOtech Ltd ('ZOOtech'), the DVD
technology division of ZOO Digital Group plc, has announced its future strategy
and outlined market opportunities in North America.

Management Focus on US Market

Given the market size of DVD production and the large relative size of
individual deals for its technology, ZOO is looking to further develop its US
business and will focus greater resources and management time in driving sales
in this area. In particular Board members Robert Deri (CFO) and Dr Stuart Green
(CTO) will be working more closely on the opportunities that the US presents. As
a result of this greater focus at a Board level, Cees Zwaard, CEO of ZOOtech
will be leaving the business. Specific activity will include deepening existing
relationships with the major organisations and working closely with customers
regarding process improvement, reduction of client in-house production budgets
and software solutions to meet client's requirements for next generation HD-DVD
and Blu-Ray. As part of this activity two members of the technical staff are
relocating to the US on long-term secondments in order to work closely on
current developments and future opportunities.

Hollywood Studio Market

Menu Regionalisation is only one of a number of applications for the DVD-EXTRA
STUDIO technology. In addition to ZOO seeking further menu regionalisation
opportunities in Hollywood, the Group is developing other DVD-EXTRA STUDIO based
products in conjunction with major entertainment corporates and Hollywood
studios. Significantly, the technology has proved to be compatible with
production systems and compliant with the DVD industry's extremely high
standards. It is anticipated that both the number of studios using the
technology, and the number of applications for the technology, will grow
considerably.

Ian Stewart, Chief Executive of ZOO Digital Group plc commented:

'Our technology is being increasingly used by a number of organisations, has
been rigorously tested and is completely proven. Its potential, both in terms of
the number of customers and applications, is huge and we are now focusing on
maximising the opportunities Hollywood and the US present and building on the
very important relationships we have worked so hard to establish.'

About Menu Regionalisation
The 'DVD-EXTRA STUDIO Regionalisation Utility' automates the creation of all
regionalised DVD's. The technology maximizes customers' time by using the
original menu as the template to automatically create different language or
regionalised versions. The regionalisation process is therefore standardised
removing error prone manual processes and improving productivity. More
importantly, each customer can leverage the assets created for one project by
storing translations and then use these translations for subsequent projects.

Translation costs are reduced as dictionaries are standardised and formatting of
menus becomes flexible based on the rules created for each regional version. The
cost reductions and labour savings are directly proportionate to the number of
languages used on a project i.e. the cost savings rise as more languages are
used.

How boring. been waiting for this news for over a year now. SP movement very disppointing to say the least. Well should moan it's at least +

andrewbertram2003 - 19 Oct 2005 11:00 - 37 of 142

Surely Zoo has a limited life...infact by the time they get their act together DVD and any media will be dead and buried.
Why....every household will have entertainment online over broadband. 8 to 24 mb services are already being provided in the UK. Most of europe are on major broadband. Mainstream in the next 5 years? Analogue TV being shut down in 2008.
ITV have just launched a trial.

As for my DVD player, I don;t use it at all now. I use my PC and Sky.
I did hear that DVD rentals are flat currently. This is the turnng point. The rental shops will all go under in the next 2 to 5 years.

So where does Zoo's product fit in the future?

I see the future....

jacobjohn7 - 19 Oct 2005 14:32 - 38 of 142

bertram... LOL. that is the funniest post i've read to date.

jacobjohn7 - 19 Oct 2005 14:34 - 39 of 142

ATTENTION WORLD: andrew bertram is not using his dvd player, this surely must symbolise the downward spiral for the format, in which idvd is currently enjoying massive growth.

andrewbertram2003 - 19 Oct 2005 19:38 - 40 of 142

Thanks Jacob. If I can bring a little sunshine to your day I will.

iDVD is Apples way of increasing its 'i' branding and is brilliant for the market today and for the next couple of years. I feel it would have a limited lifespan...perhaps 3 to 7 years.

So, tell me what you see broadband being used for in the next few years? you old dino you. :-)

jacobjohn7 - 20 Oct 2005 11:09 - 41 of 142

AB: wasnt thinking of apple. ZOO lead the way in interactive dvd (idvd), thats what i was referring to, sorry for confusing you.
I have no issue with broadband being used more.. the point is dvd players have taken over and barring seeing additional hybrid formats, i reckon the formats gonna have a strong hold and evolve with the market. PC users into the tech side will want the all in entertainment system,95% of the market are the people who are quite happy with the dvd that they bought down at tescos for 40. The traditional living room TV/DVD.... prior to this video, will take some changing. All in all dvd will be with us for quite a while.

ZOO BREAKS INTO NORTH AMERICAN MARKET WITH WALLACE & GROMIT DVD GAME AGREEMENT

- Partnership with LA-based games producer Snap TV -
- ZOO's first product to be sold in the US market-

ZOO Digital Publishing Ltd ('ZDPL'), the games publishing division of ZOO
Digital Group plc, today announces that it has partnered with Snap TV, a US DVD
games production and distribution company, to publish its interactive DVD game
Wallace & Gromit 'Curse of the Were-Rabbit'. The agreement is a landmark one for

The announcement follows the agreement announced on 21 July 2005 that ZOO, in
partnership with Aardman Animations and Universal Pictures, will release its
first non-quiz DVD game based on the Wallace & Gromit film and using DVD-EXTRA
technology across a number of territories including the UK, France, Germany,
Spain, Austria, , Australia and Japan.

Ian Stewart, Chief Executive of ZOO, said:

'The Wallace & Gromit game is a landmark product for ZOO. Not only is it the
world's first and most complex non-quiz interactive DVD game using DVD-EXTRA
technology, but also because it marks the first time that ZOO have broken into
the US market. Through the release of the game into the US we expect to agree
further licensing deals in the North American market.'

Fremantle plays cards right with game shows

A renaissance in game show titles has prompted FremantleMedia to sign a raft of deals with software and DVD developers for UK shows such Play Your Cards Right and Blankety Blank, as well as a deal with Sky for an interactive TV game.

Fremantle has licensed rights to the UKs largest digital pay-TV platform, Sky, to create an interactive TV game based on the classic show Strike It Rich. The game, currently in development, will replicate the shows format and is expected to launch on the platform towards the end of this year.

In addition, software developer DVD Pro has been granted rights to hit global formats Play Your Cards Right (UK, Eire, France, Spain and Italy) and Blankety Blank (UK and Eire) while Circle has acquired rights to classic game shows The Price Is Right (UK, Eire, France, Spain and Italy) and Blockbusters (UK and Eire). The games will be available for retail from October.
----

So the DVDExtra licensees continue to sign up DVDGame deals ie. Circle and DVD Pro Ltd : btw don't confuse DVDPro with Imagination's software DVD Game Pro - DVDPro Ltd licensed DVDExtra through Element Interactive responsible for the following games last season:

Gary Lineker's Football Challenge, The TVTimes Ultimate Soap Challenge and The Great British Pub Quiz Copyright DVD Pro Limited 2005.

Interesting reference to Sky within this article, especially with ZOOtech stating that DVDExtra was being developed for "some on-demand formats" ...

Zoo Digital Group PLC
01 February 2006

1 February 2006

ZOO DIGITAL GROUP PLC
('ZOO' or 'the Group')

STRATEGIC AND MANAGEMENT REVIEW

Further to the announcement issued on 23 January 2006, ZOO announces that it has
completed its initial strategic assessment and management review.

Strategic Review

ZOO Digital Publishing Ltd ('ZDP'), ZOO's games publishing business currently
focuses on two areas of activity:

Traditional video games publishing on platforms such as Playstation,Xbox, PC etc
The creation and publishing of interactive DVD-Video (iDVD) titles

Given the weak prospects for the traditional video games publishing market, ZDP
will significantly downscale its video games activities. In addition the Group
will undertake a number of cost saving measures in video games operations, many
of which have already been implemented.

Conversely, the interactive DVD business is demonstrating excellent potential
for growth. Sales of iDVD products in general performed well over the Christmas
period. ZDP's three products captured 25% of the iDVD market by value with 'Who
Wants To Be A Millionaire' at number two and 'Telly Addicts' at number four.
Therefore the focus of ZDP moving forward will be on iDVD activities and the
Board is considering its strategic options for ZDP as part of the overall
review.

ZOOtech, the technology division of the Group, continues to make progress with a
number of significant contracts and priority will be given to ensuring such
opportunities will deliver ongoing revenues. Given the potential growth of the
software into the US market ZOOtech is actively seeking a strategic partner to
maximise the opportunity. In addition, ZOOtech's DVD-EXTRA technology was used
to create nine of the top ten iDVD titles sold in the UK over Christmas. Dr.
Stuart Green, who pioneered the creation and application of ZOOtech's unique DVD
interactive software technology, will be responsible for leading this strategy.

Management Review

Ian Stewart has stepped down from his role as CEO and Dr. Stuart Green,
currently Chief Technical Officer, will replace him with immediate effect. Ian
Stewart will take on a role as Non Executive Director and support Stuart Green
in the completion of the strategic review and implementation of the changes
assisted by the board including the other independent Non Executive Directors.

Dr Green commented:

'Throughout our discussions with Hollywood studios and production facilities it
has become clear that ZOOtech's software can make a significant difference to
the DVD production process for both current and next generation Video Discs. I
look forward to leading this progression in my new role and thank Ian Stewart
for his continued support'.

Ian Stewart commented:

'The changes made will ensure that the Group is focused on the areas that will
deliver growth whilst positioning ZOOtech for its progression in the US. Our new
management structure and strategic aims will help us achieve this and I very
much look forward to supporting Stuart in his new role'.

Positive piece in Shares today. Led me to trawl through the announcements. Problem, as all will know, with the video division is not surprising. Encouraging that DVD progress is good; also I've long felt that the technology division was the core strength of the company. OK, caught with their pants down (in the monkey enclosure?). But the fall is overdone, surely. If they miss profitability this year then no doubt next year will be profitable with better business direction. With a t/o assumed around 15m then the cap. should be 15m min and, if growth is resumed then could be moving back towards the previous 30m figure.

I conclude that the fall is away overdone. Have put my money where my head/mouth are and bought a wee stake at 3.09p

Still shaking out so didn't get in at the bottom. Never mind, the value is there. Can't quite understand why the quote was widened so much; I think though that there was a balance of buys and sells and the MMs have been clearing substantial sell order(s). Incidentally, is there anyone out there interested in this share?

Eric

canary9 - 09 Feb 2006 18:41 - 73 of 142

Eric, been interested in this and had a small flutter, which is now down 50%.
Cash could be a problem for them in the 1st half of next year, if they did not generate cash in the 2nd half of this year. What do you think?

queen1 - 09 Feb 2006 19:24 - 74 of 142

I got in an awfully long time ago and didn't sell when I should have. That said, I echo EWR's thoughts so am sitting tight.

EWRobson - 09 Feb 2006 22:33 - 75 of 142

canary: I see an overdraft of 1.1m at 30th September. Whilst Xmas sales were disappointing I take it that they were cash flow positive. However, some restructuring, lay offs will take cash so they will probably need more. The sp may preclude raising it in the market. But I see the present sp is looking gloomily on everything. I would say they are better out of the video market now and the previous CEO was slow in the uptake and paid the price. Suspect he is very bright technically: he still believes in the company and has bought more shares. Definitely a BUY.

Eric

EWRobson - 17 Feb 2006 17:06 - 76 of 142

Good jump today to 4p based on share puchases by Stewart who recently steppeddown as CEO but who now has some 19% of the equity. The most likely reason seems to be that he knows the shares are a snip at the current price.

Christmas we know was disappointing and action has been taken to run down the video side and concentrate on DVDs and licensing. Statement said that there 'may be a loss'. But there was a loss of 2.3m so actual progress will have been made; it si just that expectations haven't been met. Turnover was up 40% at the interims so for the year figure likely to be 15m or so. A profit next year of 2m (punt but seems reasonable) would be 0.65p per share or pe of 6. Still think is an attractive growth share. I moved in because I am attracted to growth shares which have a blip (currently having super runs in ASC and AZM).

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 04/07/2006 -- ZOOtech, Inc., the interactive DVD technology pioneer, announced an agreement with Scholastic Media (SM) to use ZOOtech's DVD-EXTRA STUDIO system for SM's new interactive DVD titles, including Clifford Phonics and two games based on the popular I SPY series. Under this agreement, SM will utilize DVD-EXTRA STUDIO's proprietary technology that uses specific algorithms in innovative ways to create interactive DVDs.

"The fact that these DVD products can help children develop critical skills such as logic and problem-solving while playing in a non-linear environment is very exciting," said Alan Waldman, SVP and General Manager of Scholastic Media's Interactive Products Group. "DVD-EXTRA STUDIO helped us to bring some very compelling interactive DVD titles to the market with the kind of interactivity today's tech-savvy young people want most. It is like working with CD-ROM game play with all of the other interactivity benefits, yet on a DVD format that kids can play on their televisions."

08 October 2007:
DGP Sign On For ZOOtech Service

DGP, the Soho based Digital post production and New Media Facility, has announced the signing of an exclusive affiliation agreement with ZOOtech to offer production services based on its DVD Authoring System in the UK.
The software has already proven itself, with a number of major studios in Los Angeles embracing ZOOtechs ground-breaking solutions. These range from the automation of the DVD authoring process - previously a very labour intensive function - to the regionalisation of DVD menus and printed materials.

In developing its range of innovative software products ZOOtech has analysed the production workflow and clearly differentiated the underlying programming structure from the content itself. This has enabled ZOOtech to develop products that offer automation whilst maintaining full creative freedom for the designer and author to produce unique and strongly branded titles.

The systems introduce significant efficiencies into the production process, as well as greater flexibility to accommodate changes, whilst at the same time delivering substantial cost savings to the client.

Commenting on the new agreement, Julian Day, Managing Director of DGP said Our marketplace is changing fast. Clients are continually looking for more efficient ways to reduce costs and produce their work more effectively. By collaborating with ZOOtech, we are perfectly positioned to exploit our knowledge and experience of the international DVD market, and pass on the potential savings to our clients. In addition, we will have access to ZOOs upcoming solutions for reduced production times across other areas of our business which include DVD menu regionalisation and the adaptation of printed and promotional materials.

Gordon Doran, President of ZOOtech, added We are delighted that DGP has chosen ZOOtech as a partner in its digital media production business. Whilst we have seen a dramatic increase in interest in our software tools, we are also increasingly partnering with best-in-class service providers and working with them to develop the surrounding workflow processes that can make the tools devastatingly effective. We can now pass on our unique suite of products, together with our experience in making them work, to our new partner DGP to service the UK market on an exclusive basis.

Zootech and Scope Seven to produce Lego DVD game
Friday, 23 November 2007
Zootech, the innovative solutions company revolutionizing the video title production industry, and Scope Seven, their wholly owned Los Angeles based production company, have been hired by San Francisco-based board game company, University Games, to design and develop an interactive DVD game based around themes from the successful LEGO brand. Collaborating with LEGO and University Games, Zootech and Scope Seven are working to create an engaging game experience, combining elements of social interaction, fun, and learning. Maneuvering through a variety of LEGO worlds including LEGO City, Racing, Mars Mission, and Castle brands, the player's goal is to be the rst to reach LEGOLAND, an animated version of the popular theme park located just north of San Diego, CA. Players will advance on a game board by answering questions and completing activities on the DVD. Zootech and Scope Seven are proud to be a part of University Games' rst foray into the DVD game space.

BUY Zoo Digital at 13.5p... too cheap to be true.

Zoo: Hollywoods unlikely hero

Due in part to the global downturn, piracy and new technology, Hollywood studios are waking up to a potential horror story. DVD revenues, although still providing the industry with a sizeable $18.1 billion in 2008, were 4.8 per cent down during the year, as sales and rentals both diminished. The diagnosis for this glitzy sector is simple: it must slash costs.

Coming to the rescue is small-cap software developer ZOO Digital, which has built up a portfolio of products that have enabled the Sheffield-headquartered company to snare business with four of the Big Six major Hollywood studios Warner Bros, Paramount, Sonys Columbia, Fox, Universal and Disney.

The companys product portfolio is divided fairly equally between technology and services. While services include creative design, post-production and other consultancy activities, Zoos software is the more exciting element, with sky-high revenues to boot.

Zoos Templated Authoring System helps to automate DVD and Blu-Ray disc authoring a process that is normally very labour intensive, traditionally involving pulling together the film, soundtrack, subtitles, menu, bonus features, etc and reduces the time spent on this from over a week to one day.

Another product, the Menu Regionalization Tool, enables DVD menu items to be automatically formatted for translation into various languages. And a third software offering, the Media Adaptation Tool, speeds up the process of redesigning printed materials such as posters and DVD covers for different languages. Tellingly, one Hollywood studio customer managed to eke out a 90 per cent reduction in the time spent on these processes by employing Zoos products, and managed to save $3 million in the first year after adopting Zoos Menu Regionalization product.

In 2007, Zoo stepped up its penetration into the Hollywood studios through the acquisition of Scope Seven, one of the Los Angeles players in the DVD-authoring industry, then began replacing Scopes traditional methods with its own technology.

In the year to March, with the take-up of the new technology accelerating, group turnover doubled to 6.6 million, buoyed in part by currency movements, with revenues for video authoring increasing 212 per cent and for media adaptation by 224 per cent. Prior year losses of 1.9 million were converted into a 200,000 profit before tax, finance costs and an exceptional write-off of intangibles.

The strong performance was attributable in part to the first full-year contribution of acquisitions but mostly to the increasing traction of Zoos technology in the market. As finance director Helen Gilder explains, customers are getting more comfortable with us and are taking more products and services from us, and we are expanding more within our existing clients.

Boss Stuart Green, CEO and 20 per cent shareholder, who has been at the company since ZOO merged with AIM-listed Kazoo3D back in 2001, adds, Were fairly well consolidated with one customer, which uses software and services for around 40 per cent of its DVD business, and others are still at an early stage. What were seeing is that these studios which are big, slow-moving companies and are divided into lots of different units may start with us in one unit, but when the benefits become apparent, other units start to use us.

Now Zoo, with its foot in the door of three other big Hollywood studio players and eyeing up Bollywood as a potential market, is primed for plenty more growth this year, as its proven ability to pare costs reels in new business. The first few months of the new financial year have been good, enthuses Green. We are ahead in terms of revenues and significantly ahead in terms of profits.

Although Zoo is small and has 3.5 million of convertible loan notes outstanding all held by existing shareholders including Green, Foresight VCTs and Herald Investments it has a disruptive technology in a sector where many tens of millions of dollars are spent every year and is punching above its weight with clients who are warming to its cost-cutting abilities. Its shares offer good medium-term growth potential.

Recommendation: Buy
Ticker: ZOO
Sector: Software & Computer Services
Listing: AIM
Mid-price: 13.5p
Market cap: 2.88m

Zero Interest here, recently ~2.5 years ago!

Now 10-11p I'm guessing they are still about to break into the Big Time,
meanwhile a "massive trade" in Buys, totaling c. £35k,
- has shifted the sp 11% DYOR. That shows a very poor liquidity IMHO.

The problem with all of these gismo-sellers (hardware or software) is that Big Co's don't like to be beholden to a small-fry who knows their sales, or Marketing strategy . . . "Walls have ears" etc. so it is very difficult for Tiny-Co to become "essential" like say the likes of Kleenex(tissues), or BIC(pens)
, Dell (computers), etc - and these tend to be sold via a wholesaler, so no risk of anyone knowing what Big Co is up to.
What they need is to find a Small Co with a brilliant idea (any takers?) which becomes a Must-have (like Harry Potter books), this means they can exploit their tech
and Small Co is very happy to have the "look n' feel" of a Big-Co interactive DVD (or whatever...) er, IMHO.

Not one for me.
Cynic, BTW Mkt cap is still £3m so still not one for you, either....
