Sitting at a one year low this microcap has potentially a great deal of upside according to the last figures (see AFX below)
Farsight PLC posted narrower first half losses and said it
has a strong order book for the remainder of the financial year.
For the six months to end November, the video surveillance company posted a
loss of 501,000 stg against a loss of 978,000 a year earlier on sales of 431,000
stg compared to 597,000.
It also said the first stage of a contract with Johnson Workplace Management
has been commissioned following a three month planning and mobilisation period.
Basepoint said the potential value of this contract is a minimum of 250,000
stg over the next two years in terms of consultancy and remote video monitoring.
Sales revenues from remote video monitoring operations continue to grow, the
company said.
"New client monitoring contracts are growing by between 15,000-35,000 stg
per month," it said.
It added that it has raised 750,000 stg via a secured convertible loan
facility. This will enable the company to repay its legacy debts and "provide
sufficient working capital for the company's present requirements".
It said 2004 will see a positive cash flow from operations, and a continued
improvement in trading performance.

You can see by todays action that small trades move this quickly so when news is released it is going to move unbelievably quickly.
Get a few before it moves again.

This was taken from the last set of figures received which means that forward looking they had some strong orders.

Guys
Just got some TA from a well respected poster. I hold a position in this stock.
Ted,
FAR...finally!
(Sorry guys, off topic.)
The most significant feature is the one day fall on 27/7. There was a large opening gap down, with the day starting precisely on the lower line of the year long descending channel.
The good news is the low of that day, at .73p, is way below the eventual close at .95p, forming a long wick, or shadow, on the Candlestick chart.
The next day was steady at 1p.
Was this a dead cat bounce. I don't think so. Although volumes are low I'd have expected the fall back below 1p to have happened by now...so there is some support there at the key 1p level. And the long wick may be evidence of further underlying support...I presume buyers came in strongly? (I have no fundamental knowledge of this share.)
Should 1p fail then I'm afraid .5p is on the cards.
I hope this helps

A little TA guys, looking good again today only 2 sells, I think buys with the tick up but difficult to tell especially after yesterday. They were all buys yesterday.
Ted,
Just checked on FAR...looking good.
An open on the 21 day MA saw the price gap upwards yesterday.
Above average volume helped to a close back in the middle of the downtrend channel and above the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement level.

Looking back over the trades it seems that most who bought in at the lower level have now sold out. This has meant that we have established a higher level of trading.
It could be a very good time add before the next move up.

What can one say about a share like FAR? It is a penny share and has a bad history - how can it be a buy?
Looking for value amongst penny shares tends to be a sucker's route to nowhere but, occasionally, one pops up that is worth considering. Two things must be established - has the company changed and moved away from all the things that sent it into a decline and does it now have a market?
Fundamental analysis helps and TK did a good job on that. Things have changed for FAR and prospects would seem to be looking better - the crucial thing will be markets for the product. Monitored CCTV.
Investigating this market is not easy and FAR are unlikely to reveal any information that would help their competitors - and there are a lot of these. A simple search of the yellow pages will reveal the number of competitors. Is the market big enough to mean that FAR are in with a chance given the competition? I think the answer is 'yes'. FAR is now a lean and hungry company and will be prepared to do what a 'fatter' company might not. It's all down to Darwin. The fittest survive. FAR seem to be fairly well established in monitored CCTV and if they pursue an aggressive marketing policy they could do well.
Monitored CCTV is still in its early days and that gives one hope for FAR. It is not yet a mature market and there are still opportunities that can be taken. I suspect in terms of businesses that the CCTV market will be insurance driven. If a business does not have some kind of 'security' in place then they may have to pay very high premiums or not get insurance at all. Having guards walk around the place is very expensive and inefficient. Burglars can see the guards and simply wait until they have gone. Cameras are much, much better and if the output of the cameras can be monitored then the police can be called very quickly and kept informed about the burglars and where they might be. Most people would probably think of this use first but there are many others. Our increasingly lawless and 'drug' driven society means that muggings are now commonplace - the addicts simply want cash for their next 'fix'. There will be an increasing use of monitored CCTV in all public places and it will be H24. The police like the idea because it means they only get called out when there is a need and they are very short of manpower - or woman power. All this is attractive on a cost basis - and that is very significant.
Any company with a product that is cheaper than alternatives is in with a chance. This site is worth viewing - http://www.adt.co.uk/prod_remote_cctv.htm - scroll down towards the end.
Bonney recently posted about his work environment and - in response to my query - he said
" We have three cameras monitoring our site and sensors which picks up any movement. The site across the road have four cameras and speaker so if anyone approaches they are warned. Another company installed the system but it is monitored by Farsight at Peterborough which cost about 200 a month."
200 a month is really very cheap compared to alternatives and the monitoring will be H24.
So. Is FAR a buy? If you take the view that there is a market and even an expanding market for monitored CCTV then FAR would seem to be well placed to take advantage of that position. Time will tell. The market can be very slow to forgive a share that has fallen from grace but a bit of investigation and thinking can sometimes reveal that this gets overdone and there can be real gold hidden in penny shares. FAR would seem to have only a small downside potential but massive upside potential - and they are already in the market, leaner and hungrier. On this basis I think FAR is a 'buy'.

The reason for the recent rise is due to the fact that Farsight are about to release news of a major contract win. As you have seen the market has already got wind of this news hence the subsequent rise in the offer even with sellers being predominant.I suggest that holders sit on their shares in the short term and capitalise on the forthcomming news.

Well as I said earlier there are sellers and the MMs are mopping them up. Question is why ? Is there news pending ? Are they trying to balance their books? Questios questions ! What is good is that the SP is firm indicating that the next move may well be a rise. I am sure that people have/are looking at this one and have waited. What they have seen is the SP rise and rise. The old addage goes buy into a rising trend. FAR presently has that momentum so buying is the logical thing to do.
Think about it over the weekend but i feel that we may well see 2p before long.
