LONDON (AFX) - Shares in Avingtrans, once a textiles minnow and now a specialist supplier of niche engineering components, advanced 5-3/4 pence to 115-3/4 after the Investors Chronicle told readers that the company's rating of eight times 2006's earnings pays scant regard to its prospects.

Agreed Hustler a lot of mileage in this one.
I reckon they are likely to be doing at least 15p eps at the moment, so trading on a single figure multiple which is ludicrous considering the growth.

Been waiting to get in on these for a few months.Just did.Moving averages look good and the small punters have started buying. As we have until the Sept results to keep the sp rising,I can see quite a nice upside from here,as long as nothing horrible happens, either to the company or in the outside world!Any clues as to what a new high could be?Agree, ridiculously undervalued.

Welcome to a small but growing band of followers Ethel.
Cannot foresee anything horrible happening as far as the company is concerned, the recent trading statement has underpinned my confidence there.
I was looking for eps come results of 15p but that was before the trading statement, being conservative I'll stick with it though. The sort of growth being experienced here should not attract a p/e of under 15 let alone under 10 so I can see a serious re-rating at some time in the future. Short term lets see if it goes and stays above 1.50, long term 2.00 upwards is entirely feasible.
What I like about AVG is they seem to operate in niche areas where they do not encounter much competition, a definite plus point when looking to invest in a company imo.
All the best to holders.

Too hot to sleep tonight, just fished out the Observer article in case anyone needs convincing !
"The Treasury takes in nearly 200m in fines thanks to speeding offences recorded by roadside cameras.
Speed cameras are just one of the reasons why sales and profits at AIM-tiddler
Avingtrans are accelerating. Last May the Nottingham engineering firm bought
Crown UK, based at Portishead Bristol for 1.56m. Around the time of the takeover, Crowns founder John Peet, died at the age of 75. He was so popular that staff bought a 9ft high wreath in the shape of a speed camera. It was a fitting tribute. Crown, which makes the posts and housing for speed cameras, has been a very profitable business.
Avingtrans' six month figures published last week show that Crown has a transformational effect. Turnover has lept 300% on the same time last year to 7.9m, with pre-tax profits up 347% to 559,000.
While the market for speeed cameras in the UK is diminishing, overseas markets are set to grow and Avingtrans appears well placed to take advantage of this. It has recently won an accreditation from Network Rail to develop trackside signalling posts.
As if this was not enough, Avingtrans has another significant business component. Last October it bought Stainless Metalcraft for 8.1m. SMC makes components for MRI scanners. The company believes that SMC technology will be increasingly sought after worldwide. It all adds up to Avingtrans being a company worth watching very closely."
I thank you and goodnight

I am worrying that 140p is a resistance level that might not be easily breached. We are seeing 1998 prices here. The chart looks horribly jagged after years of steady decline followed by steady recovery since 2003.
The sp moves quite a lot on small buying.Should I sell now for no profit and buy lower....or could I hope to see 180p before results in Sept?

Hi ethel
You appear to be worried, agree a bit volitile
on small volumes but come Sept i feel it will
be a lot higher, when results come through. This
is a small one on Aim remember and the market
needs confidence. The results should confirm this
if you believe the consensus as i do.

I am,Capa!!!Here's one that I have managed to hang onto, but it is'nt doing my blood pressure any good.I would like to see the sp go to 155p this time.Do you think that's a sensible short term target?
Then I think the price will drop until results in Sept.I can't see the market roaring along thro the summer break, especially as we are beginning to see a lot of profit warnings and hints, across all sectors, that the next lot of results are going to be on or below expectations.
I have no idea what the market expectations for AVG are. Also,I am wary of promises that results will be above average....as has happened before, when the reults are out they fail to impress...So,I would like to sell up this week and return later!
LOL,Ethel

Cannot see why 1.55 should not be attained in the run up to results Ethel it equates to a p/e of only a little over 10 if eps is 15p. Personally I suspect eps should come in at more than 15p, the last trading statement indicates this.

All this progress with the sp seems to be the result of small investor activity. The chart does point to a possible breakout,Hustler.

Well, missed selling at 1.50 because the neighbours popped in.Missed 7p by the time I sold. So,half a decent profit lost for a cup of tea.
Having been very staid for so long,AVG suddenly became frighteningly volatile.A sudden self-off by three small investors sent the sp down incredibly quickly.Knowing the chart,I should have been aware that in the context of the last two years,PRV's chart has become very erratic and zig-zaggy.The projections for this company show a massive increase in earnings so I suppose that we are seeing the birth of a completely different chart for AVG.
Can't wait to see what the results will be.
LOL to all those who braved the "tree shake",if that's what it was.Interesting to see how vulnerable the sp was to the terrible news. There was also profit taking for those who have been in from the beginning.(is it spelt with three or two n's?)

Full-year profit warning from Avingtrans
MoneyAM
Avingtrans warned its results for the year to May 31st will fall short of expectations as some of its units have not achieved the sales it expected.
The engineering and technology group said its unit Stainless Metalcraft Ltd has experienced a reduction in order uptake from one of its key medical customers during the second half, which it expects to continue into the year to May 31st, 2008.
The company, however, expressed confidence of making progress in the year to May 31, 2008, saying its order book remains at record levels.
The group also said it has identified a number of new business opportunities and specifically, the strengthening of the aerospace division continues with its unit Sigma Precision Components Ltd opening its facility in April.

18 December 2007
AVINGTRANS plc
Trading Update
Following the conclusion of the first half ended 30 November 2007 it is now
clear that the Board's earlier optimism for the full year to 31 May 2008 has
faltered. The state of the Group's orderbook earlier in the year underpinned the
Board's confidence that the Group's overall result for the year would be
sufficient to offset the disappointing performance within the aerospace division
which we have previously reported. The current state of the orderbook no longer
provides such underpinning. As a result the Directors expect that, whilst
profitable at the pre-tax level on a Group-wide basis, the Group's overall
performance for the full year to 31 May 2008 will fall significantly short of
our expectations.
With the help of an encouraging performance in the industrial division during
the first half of the financial year the Directors also expect to report a
pre-tax profit at the interim stage, albeit at a level which also falls short of
our previous expectation. On a more encouraging note, the Directors are
optimistic of an improved half on half performance during the remainder of the
current financial year on the back of a number of interesting opportunities
which are currently under consideration. The Directors expect to announce the
first half results in February 2008.
The problems within the aerospace division have already been highlighted to the
market. These relate to contractual terms on certain important supply contracts
at B&D yielding negative margins during the first half of the year on a material
part of the division's business. In recent weeks prices have been renegotiated
with the customer concerned. Whilst material improvements on future deliveries
have been achieved, no retrospective support has been agreed to. As a result the
aerospace division was loss making in the first half of the year. This contract
will end during the current financial year.
Board changes
After 5 years with the Group Steven Lawrence, Managing Director has decided to
leave the company by the end of May 2008. The Board is actively seeking a
replacement and has identified a potential candidate. Once negotiations are
completed a further announcement will be made.

Avingtrans wins £5m aerospace contract
Avingtrans (AIM:AVG), which designs, manufactures and supplies critical components, modules and associated services to the aerospace, energy and medical sectors, has announced that Sigma Components, part of its aerospace division, has signed a contract worth £5m of revenue over five years to supply fabricated assemblies to Sonaca for the Airbus, Bombardier and Embraer programmes.
The five-year contract with Sonaca in Belgium was signed during the Paris Air Show and will be managed from the company's Farnborough site. The contract will see Sigma becoming the sole supplier to Sonaca for critical assemblies in the anti-icing systems of several programmes.
Mark Johnson, managing director of Sigma Components, said: "This contract is great news for the Farnborough business that we acquired in 2012 and reflects well on the team that have earned the trust of Sonaca to award us this contract.
"Sigma has been very active at the Paris Air Show this week, opening up new opportunities and building on the Sigma brand and the new technologies we have been developing."

StockMarketWire.com
Avingtrans said Tuesday it had acquired Tecmag for a total of $0.24m net of debt boosting the companys ability to produce magnetic resonance imaging and nuclear magnetic resonance systems.
Tecmag, based in Houston, Texas, designed, manufactured, tested and installed instrumentation, including full consoles, system upgrades, and solid-state probes, mainly for magnetic resonance imaging and nuclear magnetic resonance systems, Avingtrans said.
The acquisition would integrate Tecmag's expertise in consoles and spectrometers with that of Scientific Magnetics, acquired by the Avingtans in February last year, in the area of superconducting magnets and cryogenics.
The combination of these two businesses would allow Avingtrans and its partners to produce complete magnetic resonance imaging and nuclear magnetic resonance systems.

Component supplier Avingtrans booked a deeper annual loss as rising revenue was more than offset by costs associated with its acquisition of electric motor and pump producer Hayward Tyler.
Pre-tax losses for the year through May amounted to £4.5m, compared to a loss of £285k on-year.
Revenue more than tripled £78.9m. On an organic basis, which stripped out the acquisition, revenue rose 11%.
Operating loss increased to £3.8m, mainly due to the significant Hayward Tyler exceptional costs for the acquisition, 'right-sizing and restructuring' and the 'amortisation of intangibles from business combinations'.
'With an eye on eventual exits, we have restructured the Group into two separate energy divisions and an incubator medical division,' chairman Roger McDowell said.
'A highlight of FY2018 was the speedy and successful integration of the substantial Hayward Tyler Group acquisition.'
'The new energy divisional structures and management teams have become effective quickly and their focus is clearly on growth, to build two formidable and valuable divisions.'
'The nascent medical division made slower progress, though we have galvanised our strategic path by partnering on service with MR Resources.'
