Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

From today's FT:

Falkland hopes boost Desire
By Robert Orr and Neil Hume

Published: March 5 2008 02:00 | Last updated: March 5 2008 02:00

Two of the quartet of UK-listed stocks searching for oil around the Falklands closed at all-time highs yesterday.

Interest in the islands was reignited last month when Desire Petroleum signed a deal that should allow drilling to commence at some of its prospects in the region, five months after Falkland Oil & Gas struck an agreement with BHP Billiton.

Analysts pointed out that while there was evidence of oil, nobody had ever harvested commercial quantities.

Borders & Southern Petroleum and Rockhopper Exploration rose 12.6 per to 73p and 9.7 per cent to 79p respectively, both record highs. Desire rose 19.2 per cent to a 10-year peak of 79p.

Falkland Oil & Gas eased 1.9 per cent to 127p.

Rumours of fund raising circulating to finance 2008 drilling programme?

robstuff - 11 Mar 2008 11:38 - 105 of 6294

don't they have enough funds?

halifax - 11 Mar 2008 11:45 - 106 of 6294

Last accounts show cash of just under $5million hardly enough to start a drilling programme, but they are likely to try to share with others after fund raising. Perhaps like DES?

Halifax where did u here that and do u know any more?

RKH doing the rounds in the City at the moment. Their last interim results stated they would like to share the cost of hiring a drilling rig with other exploration companies as well as seeking farm in partners.

markymar - 11 Mar 2008 12:41 - 109 of 6294

u work in the city?

Had some whispers last week of meetings and that fits in well with what a heard

TheReverend - 11 Mar 2008 23:40 - 110 of 6294

I'm amazed. It just keeps on rising

Rockhopper gained 1.9 per cent to a high of 80p as Landsbanki reiterated its "buy" recommendation on the Falkland Islands exploration group. The broker said while Rockhopper was likely to need a partner or additional finance to fund its exploration programme, the prospect of drilling around the South Atlantic outcrop backed up the fundamental case for the company

Rockhopper Expl. (RKH) Market cap: 55m
INVESTMENT SUMMARY
We have suggested for a while now that the BHP Billiton farm-in to Falkland Oil & Gas and
subsequent contracting of a rig to drill a well in the Falklands would change the nature of the
game in the region. This view has been strengthened by a second player in the region, Desire
Petroleum, announcing that it has secured a farm-in agreement with a significant party.
Rockhopper, with good acreage and an active sub-surface programme, is well placed to
benefit and we expect the company to attract farm-in deals which are likely to have an
immediate impact on an already undervalued share price.
INDUSTRY OUTLOOK
Rockhopper has assembled an extensive exploration portfolio in the little-drilled waters of the
North Falkland Basin. The Basin, which stretches c.250km from North to South, fell out of
favour in 1998 when a much-hyped drilling campaign, conducted against the backdrop of
falling oil prices, failed to deliver commercial discoveries. Those wells did, however, prove the
existence of two independent hydrocarbon systems and world-class source rock.

Quite a move in he sp recently. Not huge volume (.75m today so far), but maybe we'll see some profit taking at 100p.

billfisher98 - 12 Apr 2008 17:10 - 114 of 6294

Strong momentum today along with DES and BOR. Bodes well for further possible rises.

Rockhopper Exploration plc
24 April 2008

PRESS RELEASE

24 April 2008

Rockhopper Exploration plc ('Rockhopper' or 'the Company') (AIM:RKH)

Operational Update

Rockhopper Exploration is pleased to provide the following operational update.

SPD appointed to provide drilling expertise
Appointment of farm-out specialist adviser
EIA on PL032 & PL033 commences
Geohazard assessment of possible drilling locations on PL032 & PL033
commences

The Company announces that it has appointed SPD Group Limited ('SPD') (part of
the Petrofac group) to undertake a range of well engineering services as part of
the ongoing preparations for a drilling campaign in the North Falkland Basin.
The agreement provides Rockhopper with access to a wide range of engineering and
project management services available from SPD including the provision of long
lead equipment such as wellheads and casing.

Rockhopper announces that it has simultaneously appointed Thompson Knight Global
Energy Services, a specialist adviser to oil and gas companies seeking farm-out
arrangements, to assist in its drilling farm-out campaign.

The Company has also appointed RPS Energy to undertake an Environmental Impact
Asssesment ('EIA') on licences PL032 & PL033 in preparation for drilling. The
EIA on licences PL023 & PL024 is already in progress.

Finally, Rockhopper has commissioned CGG Veritas to reprocess the short offset
3D data over licences PL032 and PL033. The Company will use this data to
evaluate potential geohazards over a number of possible drilling locations,
thereby eliminating the requirement to collect specialist hi-resolution seismic.
This reprocessing is likely to take approximately 8 weeks.

Following the reprocessing and evaluation of this data and completion of the
EIAs, the Company expects to be ready to drill 2 to 4 targets across its
acreage.

These 2 to 4 wells, when added to the 4 wells to be drilled by Desire and its
new partner (Rockhopper will also participate in a number of these wells) result
in a potential 8 well campaign in the North Falkland Basin.

These developments follow the evaluation of seismic data and the identification
of unrisked prospects that the Company's Board estimates may contain over 3.5bn
barrels of recoverable oil on the acreage licensed to Rockhopper.

Pierre Jungels, Rockhopper Exploration's Executive Chairman, commented:

'We are now moving into the final phase prior to drilling. We have identified a
number of targets in PL032 & PL033 on the 3D seismic which are of sufficiently
low risk for us to drill in addition to the Ernest prospect and we are waiting
to see what the interpretation of the new 2D over Weddell shows us.

It is a huge advantage for us to have SPD onside bringing both experience of
drilling and access to long lead items.

We believe that our acreage is of low to medium risk in the global exploration
setting with potential to find over 3.5 billion barrels of recoverable oil using
conservative parameters and that this should prove to be of considerable
interest to the industry in the current environment.

We are continuing to move forward towards our ultimate goal of drilling between
2 and 4 wells on our operated acreage, in addition to participating in other
wells in the Basin.

The 3D still looks hugely encouraging, we are moving forward on our work
programme and with the interpretation of the new 2D on Weddell to come shortly,
we feel that 2008 will prove to be an extremely exciting year for Rockhopper.'

NB: This statement has been approved by the Company's geological staff who
include David Bodecott (Exploration Director), who is a Member of Petroleum
Exploration Society of Great Britain (PESGB) and the American Association of
Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) with over 30 years of experience in petroleum
exploration and management, for the purpose of the Guidance Note for Mining, Oil
and Gas Companies issued by the London Stock Exchange in respect of AIM
companies, which outline standards of disclosure for mineral projects.
