Lambykins's Dutch Coffee House - ADULTS ONLY (LAMB)

Spaceman - 28 Jan 2005 23:56

CLOSED - THANKS to all customers for the last few years

Socrates - 05 May 2006 23:17 - 10104 of 24230

Hi LW, you do seem to lead a busy life, too exciting for me by far. Race horses are fun but there comes a time when they just become an expense. Sad though it may seem, I think you have done the right thing. You can still follow here fortunes though.

Spacie, I'll stick to sherry trifle without sardines, thank you.

Spaceman - 05 May 2006 23:23 - 10105 of 24230

Socs, if you insist but it just wont be the same without the sardines ;-)

Socrates - 05 May 2006 23:24 - 10106 of 24230

Thank goodness for that, Spacie.

Spaceman - 05 May 2006 23:26 - 10107 of 24230

OK how about anchovies instead?

Socrates - 05 May 2006 23:39 - 10108 of 24230

NO FISH!

Socrates - 06 May 2006 00:30 - 10109 of 24230

I'll have fish for breakfast, Whitby kippers!

Spaceman - 06 May 2006 01:13 - 10110 of 24230

Socs, now they do sound nice, doubt if we can get them down here though...

Socrates - 06 May 2006 07:51 - 10111 of 24230

Spaceman
There are advantages to working for an aviation company, fresh Whitby kippers flown in before breakfast. Just don't bash the helicopter on the grass on the Coffee House lawn. I'll move it later, the helicopter that is, not the lawn.

Spaceman - 06 May 2006 09:24 - 10112 of 24230

Morning Socs, found the kippers they look nice, any special tricks for cooking them?

Maybe poach for a few mins, add a bit of butter and serve with pot of tea and some bread and butter, yummy.

Oh almost forgot, can we keep the chopper? might be useful for emergency resupplies if we run out of anything in the cafe.

Socrates - 06 May 2006 10:44 - 10113 of 24230

'Morning Spacie. I usually fry my kippers in butter, just long enough to heat them through, Poaching is fine, if you like that sort of thing, or you can try grilling for a few minutes each side..

Can't keep the chopper I'm afraid. Cost a packet to run and it's an executive model, not best suited to carting food supplies around. Best get a more utility model for that. I can always borrow one if needed.

I had a mental aberation this morning and washed the beamer, done all except the wheels, hate that job. It needed it though as most days it's parked near to a chopper landing pad and gets covered in dust. Looks like it has been on a Sahara Rally. Leave it too long and the weeds start growing on it when it rains.

Now, if you will excuse me I'm off to the kitchen to make my speciality dish, corned beef rissoles. If you ask me nicely I'll make a few of my home made fish-cakes, it's the parsley that makes them different, scrummy.

optomistic - 06 May 2006 10:47 - 10114 of 24230

Saw on tele recently that you can put the kippers in a jug of boiling water for a few mins...jugged kippers, not tried that yet, usually grill mine. Haven't been to Whitby for some while, must do a pilgrimage and collect some oak smoked :-)

Socrates - 06 May 2006 11:20 - 10115 of 24230

Opto
If you do the Whitby trip, bring a pile of kippers back for the freezer please.

Socrates - 06 May 2006 11:21 - 10116 of 24230

Must go out now, her-indoors is insisting on a trolley race.

Socrates - 06 May 2006 13:24 - 10117 of 24230

I'm back again, just like a bad penny.

Socrates - 06 May 2006 14:33 - 10118 of 24230

If you want anything, I'm out the back doing the washing and drying. Coffee room ran out of tea towels.

Socrates - 06 May 2006 17:58 - 10119 of 24230

Back again, fell asleep on a pile of warm towels. Kettle is on.

jeffmack - 06 May 2006 21:44 - 10120 of 24230

Stop talking to yourself Socco

Socrates - 07 May 2006 07:13 - 10121 of 24230

Sorry Jeff, I wasn't there. I'm afraid you were talking to yourself!

Malvern antiques fair today, just right for a little ride round some country lanes.

optomistic - 07 May 2006 10:35 - 10122 of 24230

Jeff, I'm sure that people from around the world log on just to see what Socco has to say :-)
Bit early for the Guinness, have a cup of coffee and a danish.

Spaceman - 07 May 2006 10:59 - 10123 of 24230

Morning all, nice a bright in Hastings at the moment, woke up to find a huge bumble bee in our room, I spent about 20 minutes semi awake wondering what the buzzing was !
