Cyril - I've not seen a news release re successful cementation of Sugarloaf-1. Do you have one?
The last reference was the RNS of the 11th saying the rig was on site and would commence the work scope with it expected to take up to 3 weeks.

The fracture stimulation of the Sugarloaf-1 well is presently expected to begin by mid August, subject to equipment availability.
The drilling of the Sugarloaf-2 horizontal well is presently anticiapated to commence towards the end of August."

I have been recently looking at some information of Eme and this indicates that the position for this company the share price will initially move to 1.50p. If not higher

Interesting release cyril.
If "no conclusion should be drawn" then why release that news? Also, the note regarding gas flares is quite flakey stuff. Company ramping at its best IMO and just the sort of thing that makes you cynical about these outfits.
shadow - as informative as ever with no basis. ;-))

Al i was just recalling some ref to florenscent shows in some previous report, but
can't remember which. However i feel theirs a little more substance to this news, firstly they would have to have had it ok'd by the nomad, along with
their are plans to drill a 2nd well horizontal (this is the 1st time we are
informed this well will be horizontal). So the overall picture looks positive, but not
to get carried away with it until more news is forth coming.
About to check out assie ADI and see if any info their.

Really Al of course conclusions can be drawn from the release
a) The well is NOT DRY, there is gas there
b) Bottom hole pressures are higher than expected, unless they have actually been drilling for kicks which I rather doubt.
c) Cuttings samples have fluoresced indicating the prescence of oil/condensate
Personally I cannot see how the company can be ramping if they clearly state that no conclusions can be drawn from their descriptions. I will admit the language may be a tad florid but if you are going to bother issuing an RNS their description tells ons a lot more than "there were gas shows".

John
a) Certainly something.
b) I suspected they're underbalance drilling, hence flares. It used to be common in the early 90's, but obviously we're not party to their detailed programme. You may be right, though.
c) Fluorescence means sweet FA, as you know.
It was they who said "no conclusions can be drawn". Read the release - that's why I had that in quotes, you dozy mud man!! ;-0
I'm afraid I see nothing in the release other than a bit of ramping.

For completeness:
Empyrean Energy PLC
25 July 2007
Empyrean Energy PLC
('Empyrean' or the 'Company'; Ticker: (EME))
Sugarloaf Block A, Texas USA
TCEI JV Block A # 1 well update
Empyrean has been advised by Texas Crude Energy Inc that the TCEI JV Block A
#1 well, the first well to be drilled as part of the recently announced 16
well deal, continues to drill ahead having drilled to date approximately
1500 feet of the planned 4000 feet horizontal drainhole in the Cretaceous
Carbonate.
The well has encountered encouraging gas shows in addition to fluorescence
in the cuttings. Multiple gas flares measuring between 10-40 feet have been
reported during the circulation of bottoms up accumulations as the mud
weight has had to be substantially increased.
The well is planned to be drilled 4000 feet horizontally (about 15500 feet
measured depth) after which appraisal and analysis of the hydrocarbon shows
encountered during drilling will be carried out. Although encouraging, no
conclusions should be drawn from these gas shows, fluorescence and flares
until the drilling is completed and testing operations have been conducted.
Further updates will be provided as relevant information comes to hand.
The information contained in this announcement was completed and reviewed by the
Technical Director of Empyrean Energy Plc, Mr Frank Brophy BSc (Hons) who has
over 40 years experience as a petroleum geologist.

The well operator is ConoccoP, a major oil company, they are now drilling a
horizontal, having drilled to 11500ft vertically (their is every chance they will have tested the vertical 1st)before drilling the horizontal which as we know is 1500ft of 4000ft(nice length).40ft gas flare is indicating high pressures along with the need to increase mud (substantually)weight,is most encouraging. Now lets go back to
yesterday's aussie news, fraccing is expected in mid August, hmm seems to tie in with todays news. Still not a no brainer but i feel a lot more comfortable at this
minute.

Unfortunately in these days of mass regimentation, EME are not allowed to say "looks like its going to be a real rip roaring barsteward" even if they think it.
The RNS has probably pretty much been written by the NOMAD anyway.
Heaven forbid that we be allowed to spend our money how we want, unless we get 47 health warnings first.
