Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

Yes Hils. Please don't bother replying to those that most have Squelched, as we can tell by your replies that the reason why we squelched them still applies.
You will only be dragged down to their level.

It was interesting to see that several of the protestors at the front of the mob yesterday were Socialist Worker Party followers. They were using their SWP banners on poles to hit the police. There were two distinct protests yesterday.
There was the peaceful protest around Trafalgar Square and a breakaway group who went up the Mall, turned left past Horse Guards parade, behind Number 10 and then left into Birdcage Walk to get into the north part of Parliament square. The breakaway group broke the agreed path of the protest and they were the group which caused all the violence.
There were clearly anarchists, anti-capitalists and left wing activists in that group. It is the avowed aim of the left wing protestors to bring down the government with these protests. They see it as similar to the Community charge riots. The left wing once again are bad losers and can't face the fact that Labour did not win the election. I was listening to the radio a couple of days ago and a teacher at a college who was the secretary for the NUT at the college said that the purpose of the protests was the downfall of the government.
I know from other sources that the coalition is aware of the intentions of the extreme left wing and have asked the police to consider more extreme measures in case of more serious violence. The security services are also investigating several of the activist groups.
Maybe a few people on here saw the SWP banners

PTH/Floss/Greek,
To be honest, I'm not a great fan of the squelch button. When I tried it before I felt it made the threads disjointed and new posts were still being recorded on the list totals. I'd find myself clicking on a thread because there were supposedly new posts, only to discover a load of blank posts together with replies from others referring to those blank posts.
It struck me as being worse than when the drivel was being displayed, so I only use it to squelch that MightyMicro chap nowadays.
:o)

MightyMicro actually plays a very important role in Operation Hiltops, Alders. I'd never squelch him really.
Not only is he my official Head of Photography, but he's also in charge of ski boot smuggling!

Great fight. Was right about how it would go re Khan being a tad faster than Maidana, and that as long as he kept tight he could win. The fight though did prove he has a good chin (far better than I thought).
I was very happy to see that Amir could (most of the time) keep as tight as he did to take it to the end.
Only read about it, not yet seen it, but it is being touted as the fight of the decade. And this decade has certainly had some fantastic fights.
Well done Amir.

Some are talking of a return fight. i thing that would be madness he was lucky not to have been stopped in round 10 and he took a lot of hard punches throughout the fight and his body can't take another fight like that to often.
What he want's is maybe one more fight and then Mayweather.

Hi Aldwickk,
Agreed that they both took a hammering. In fact Amir went to hospital of his own accord for a private MRI scan (very sensible to).
The thing is, because it was so close a return fight must be on the cards, but I do think he will now get a chance with Mayweather, who I think he will beat as age is on his side. Hand speed again should be enough.
But after the punishment he took I think he should at least take 6 to 9 months out of the fight ring before any further fights.
If he then beats Mayweather I think a return against Maidana would be on the cards say within 12/18 months of that fight.
If you look back to the Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank first fight, it was equally as vicious, but due to demand from the public for a return, it just had to be.
Money is all important in boxing, look how Mike (bite your ear) Tyson was allowed to get back in the ring.
The purse as ever, will be the decider.

Hard to tell as I have only read about the Khan/Maidana fight, also I don't think many punches were thrown by Williams/Higgins.
There have been some fantastic fights over the many years I have followed boxing.
One of my favorite all time hardest fights was in June 1986 when Barry McGuigan fought Stevie Cruz from Texas in what proved a grueling fifteen-round title bout under a blazing sun. I think it was way over 90 degrees for the whole fight. McGuigan held a lead halfway through, but suffered dehydration because of the extreme heat and wilted near the end, being dropped in rounds ten and fifteen. He eventually lost a close decision and his world belt, which he was never to reclaim. After the fight, McGuigan required hospitalisation because of his dehydrated state.
If you want to see 110% shear guts, if you haven't seen it, just watch it. How anyone could carry on like McGuigan did was super human.

It is strange, to me, how some are able to enjoy two others, beating one another, to unconsciousness or near to it.
(A little like supporting water boarding to me, or dog fighting.)
